Gaming Fortnite .

Tried playing this but once you've died like 3 times it feels very samey. How come it's lasted so long? Because it's free? Genuinely interested as I just couldn't get into it and found the building controls clunky.

I haven’t played much (casual during season 3) but I bought the battle pass yesterday and I’ve sunk 10 hours in since, I feel like I’m actually starting to get better as well.

The Battle Royal mode is amazing with the map changes and story fair play to Epic games they’ve done a great job.

They give you weekly challenges to complete to get you stars which are used towards the rewards for that season, each season lasts 10 weeks and then at the end theres usually a big change in the map/story but the maps evolving in real time throughout the season anyway. All that while being free (apart from getting the battlepass, which you can get enough points to pay for it through in game currency anyway just by playing).

First time i tried it was around october last year I think and like you didnt get into it. Was fun but nothing to go back to. Its that they keep adding so many things and they give you the progression challenges to keep going back and everything is sort of just discover and play how you want. Basically loads of fun and stuff to do if you want to just feck around solo or with a squad, but also if you want to play seriously.

I'm playing this on the switch far more than I ever did on the PS4. Can't stop picking it up!

For the first time in a while, they've made some changes to the game that really make it balanced and fun to play. Double shotguns are gone and even one shotgun isnt a requirement. The new sandy part of the map is what PUBG should have done with Miramar. And the ATVs are simply brilliant. Quite fun to drive around but not stupidly OP like using a hop rock. And when you consider this game is still free, its really good from Epic.

They also seem to have added mushrooms you can eat across the map that extend your health/armor, or were they always there? :nervous:

Can anyone give me tips on how not to die in this game? Without doubt one of the toughest games I have ever played to survive

Even when I end up not going to the popular towns I still end up meeting people who end up seeing me for a split second and killing me

Was there in season 4. Apples for life and mushrooms for shield.

I personally keep stay near edge of storm eye circle and make late runs just before the collapse. Timing is everything. Crouch and run. Hide in bushes and always stay in cover.

I'm not a good player anyway but won my first game yesterday.

Difficult to win games without learning how to fight. Your best route to a victory is to land at Risk Reels, Junk Junction, Haunted Hills or Flush Factory. Loot up, make sure you're full shield with some spares. Get 999 wood, have a sniper and slowly make your way into the circle. Stay away from the center and dont run into named locations.

Sometimes Id jump into a solo and hide in a bush whilst being AFK. I would do it right in the center of the map and I would come back and still be alive. I wouldnt recommend this tactic without materials, weapons and meds as the average player will shoot at a bush when theres few people remaining.

Watch a youtube video or a pro player, learn how to build, find out which guns suit your play style. Always have 999 wood, dont use the pump shotgun, carry nades or sticks as they can be used without compromising your position. Hope this helps.

If you go on challenges you have every week and what challenges you need to do. Some give 5 stars, some 10. Think starting this season they made half the challenges available if you dont get the battle pass, but for most of the rewards you need a battle pass and you only get some random awards without the battle pass. So basically you pay for the battle pass once with 950 VBucks that you probably have to buy, and then you collect vbucks during the season with the rewards which you can use for any future season vbucks (or items/emotes/whatever).

You have to buy the battle pass first to get gold tier rewards (if you hit R1 from lobby to battle pass you see the rewards). Then you can do weekly challenges and the dailies you can do anyway. The left side is daily challenges so you probably didnt have that challenge when you killed someone with a pistol.

R1 if youre on a ps4 (not sure what you are). But sometimes it fecks up and doesnt register maybe? Not sure. You should get it if you had the challenge, and eliminated someone with that weapon (not just downed them). Also if you quit midgame it doesnt count, you have to get killed before you leave game

Ah. Might be some teething issues then in that case, but at the top you have your lobby tab and then the tab next to it is battlepass and the tab after that is challenges I think. I'd assume you just tap on them instead of using the bumpers to change tabs.

Can anyone explain the new storm systwm for circles 7,8,9? How should I move with the storm?

The circle slowly shrinks and moves towards the new location. So all you have to do is stay inside it.

I have 800 V-bucks but the new battle pass costs 950 V-bucks. But to get those 150 V-Bucks it looks like I need to buy 1000 V-Bucks. Is there any way around it? It seems a waste to buy 1000 when I only need 150.

Every now and then they give a cheaper 600 vbucks option but also you can grind through it without the battle pass until you get the normal vbucks rewards (think you can get like 300 vbucks through the free rewards).

Check the battle pass, some levels in the free version give free v bucks.

Yeah will have to reach level 34 to get 200 V-bucks. Don't know how long that's going to take me!

It's worth it just buying the first lot of Vbucks so you can unlock the battle pass, then from that point you can technically play the game for free as long as you save 950 V every season.

On the right hand side of where it says "lobby" is the > symbol, next to that one is the battle pass area. Click that and it'll ask you to buy the battle pass.

Do that and you unlock the challenges.

You not bought the starter packs?

What game mode were you playing when you did this?

Yeah will do that mate. I can use the extra V-bucks for next season.

Yep for the amount I play with friends it's worth me paying 15 quid as it's a free game, I've more than had my money's worth.

Since then you get like 1200+ free v bucks per season, so it's easily enough to unlock a few dances / skins every season

I still don’t know who I should be shooting, how do you tell the difference between a team mate and an enemy?
