Gaming Football Manager 2016

I felt like doing something different (for me) and I read a story about RB Leipzig trying to sign Embolo and Oxford and for some reason that inspired me to start a save on FM with them.

I didn't know nothing about them but loaded it up to see that they have a quality young squad for their league.

I'm not sure what tactics I am going to play but they have some decent looking defensive midfielders, including Sami Khedira's little brother.

I think this could be a fun save.

So I started a career with Derby and won the Championship in my first season. First season in the Prem I had a few cracking away results against the big teams and basically rode the wave for a bit before realising I could actually do a Leicester and ended up winning the Prem first time of asking.

It's a bit shit in terms of the response from the game though isn't it. Obviously the board are in love with me and there was a few things saying it was unexpected and a fan favourite saying he can't believe it, but it doesn't make you feel the grandness something like that would entail. I want a parade, articles linking me with big jobs left right and centre, player comments, other manager comments, etc...

Still playing FM2015 (with updated squads) and I'm currently playing with Dortmund. It's been 4 seasons in game, first 2 I just built my squad so I could compete against Bayern, finished second in the cup and league the first two seasons. In the third I won the treble after beating City in the CL final on overtime and running away with the league. 4th season was disappointing however, I managed to win the league quite easily, but lost on penalties in the cup semi and crashed out against frecking Everton on away goals after absolutely destroying them at home, I just couldn't score. I've signed Januzaj, a Vietto who for some reason couldn't get games at Man Utd, but he's absolutely destroying teams for me, Tevez, Jovic, Saul (new for the upcoming season), Modric, Rodriguez (left back) and a few others.

I've had some really fun games as well with a new tactic I made which is extremely offensive. I only play it at home, usually against weaker teams. I played Hoffenheim who were above me in the table after 9 or 10 games and it was 8-0 at half time. I also played my reserves in the CL against Zenit and that game ended 7-7, beating my old record of goals scored in CL (which was 12-1). I got offered the Bayern job right now but opted against it, as well as declining France and England. I don't really know where to go with this save now, I will try to win the CL again or at least do a lot better considering how I went out last season. But if I do win it I have no idea what to do.

So, is it just hard-coded in to the game for Manchester City to bid on and unsettle at least 5 of your players every season?

I'm finding it hard to believe they really want to buy Assombalonga from my Bristol Rovers side, or a 35 year old Wes Morgan who can barely run., but now my squad is unsettled. fecking berties.

For me it's PSG, regardless of save, their shortlist is my squads...

PSG for me too, they've bought half of my players.

Just started an updated game on this tonight with Zlatan at Utd etc and they're so annoying. Bidding for Herrera and Schneiderlin but it's offers that aren't even half their value. Both unsettled and playing like crap. Then they bid £38.5m for Januzaj on August 31st.

Lost our final game in the end, for Benfica to pip us and Porto(they drew with Sporting on the day) to the title. Their 6th in a row.

We're coming back stronger though, with more money and CL football we've attracted a better breed of big club castoffs.
Need to check this team out. Looks like fun! Not "discrediting" you for your hard work ;)

PSG for me too except they end up buying Blind for £30m, Januzaj for £37.5m, Valencia for £15m, Jones for £35m and Rojo for £20m, before they seem content with the number of players they've signed from me and I'm just a bit richer.

Victory is way too understated in the game altogether.

Think I've moaned about similar before, when Lukaku overtook Charlton's goalscoring record for United. Just a simple message saying "Lukaku has scored a lot of goals. Well done him."

Think you should get a much more exciting thing, and it should happen with other players in other teams - Harry Kane scored 300+ Premier League goals in my save, and I only knew about it because I checked his profile. They should make a huge deal out of something like that.

Premier League scheduling is crap in this game. Surely it isn't tough to make sure United don't play Liverpool or Chelsea first game of every season? I usually have to restart a few times just to get a 'normal' first game.

In my game in 2019, Arsenal have become far and away the most powerful club in the world. Head and shoulders above the rest in the rich list, and they have a ridiculous squad now. This is their best 11:

Messi
Hazard ------------ Sanchez

Pogba Ozil
Verratti

Alaba Koscielny Varane Bellerin

Cech
How on earth did that happen?

Cech must be rubbish by then? Other than that, sheer insanity.

I hadn't thought of Cech's age actually. Just had a look at him, he still looks fairly decent. He's also retiring at the end of the season. They've got that Aussie lad from Valencia as well, Matthew Ryan. He always progresses nicely in this game. I think Ryan might actually be first choice, though they've both played around the same amount of games.

They've got even more firepower on the bench and even outside the matchday squad. Because feck defending, right?

Douglas Costa can't even get on the bench. The FM universe is a dark, twisted fantasy.

In my games, 100% of the times, Arsenal go on a downward spiral. In one of my saves, they are in relegation zone with a pretty decent side and Mancini as manager

Bet Wenger's not in charge though

You're right. Luis Enrique.

Don't know where they got all the money from though, as they've gazumped Barca, Madrid, Bayern and United as the big earners and most valuable.

Maybe they were just waiting for Wenger to piss off before wielding the company cheque book.

The United youth players in this game are excellent.

Was forced to CBJ as back up and he was a vbit shit in his first season but now he's nutmegging defenders, dribbling past them and delivering Beckham-esque crosses.

Had to play Joe Riley after a huge injury crisis at RB and he was so good that I offered him a new contract and he's now my RB backup to Darmian. Kayne Diedrick-Roberts scored a hatrick on debut and I didn't even know the guy existed. McNair is very good as backup across multiple positions as well. This is aside from Wilson and Januzaj being worldies.

Going to sell a few of the first teamers and bring back TFM, Periera, Williams, Gribbin and see how it goes net season. Loving it!

If you get lucky with the random guys, TFM can be a bit of a monster, Gribbin one of the best players in the game(on either wing, CM or AM), he's a must buy for me since they nerfed Crowley at the Arse. Ilias Moutha-Sebtaoui can be good enough to replace De Gea in time.

Varela is weirdly immense despite not having great potential. Had one season where he picked up 28 assists for me playing as Bradford, albeit in weaker competition, 12 in the Championship and 14 in the Europa.

Been playing as Derby and although Cyrus Christie isn't that highly rated he's been brilliant for me. I love players like that. Think he's the only player I haven't replaced since the start of the game.

2nd season just finished and I'm gonna cull Zlatan I think. He's scoring shed loads but his physical stats are dropping off quickly. Want to go with an asymmetric 4-1-4-1 because I've not really given it a go before. Been training Pogba as an AM especially.

---------------------Martial------------
Memphis - Pogba----------Rashford
---------------------Sanches---------
----------Schweini-----------------
Shaw---Blind---Smalling---Bellerin
--------------Dave--------------------

And now City have put a £48m bid in for Griezmann. I don't want them to have him.

In my Roma save, I decided to pump money into Dundee to make the save more interesting, added a new manager and signed some players before retiring so an AI manager can take over. Lets see what the likes of Bernard, Rondon, Mangala, Micah Richards, James McCarthy, Thauvain, Correa, Trapp and Welbeck can do in the SPL.. They have a CL playoff as well so hopefully they will become a European force.

Started a save with United, plan on being a bit sensible overall, but I had an interesting first window. Well, interesting that I brought players in despite the first window's budget being turned off.

They all have nice and cheap purchase options.

How did it go?
Ended up as a 1-1 draw with Southampton, guess I can't complain, TFM is already becoming quite the player, probably move him to the first team next season.

The Barca game was a 0-0 draw, which was disappointing as we somehow outplayed them, more shots, shots on target, possession, and clear cut chances.

End of second season with Newcastle. Finished a respectable 5th.

Worth breaking bank for John Stones? He's still at Everton and interested.

How big is the game now? Not got too much space on a 2011 MacBook Pro. How likely am I to run into performance issues?

Is TFM good in midfield in the game?

P.s Had to reject a mouth watering 64m for Herrera from PSG because it was on deadline day in Jan. feckers wouldn't agree to a summer move.

He can be, varies from save to save, in this save he's looking like developing into a real handy ball winner.

No chance of replacing Herrera that day? Cracking sum, but still, he's excellent anyway.

I just had Rooney ask to leave as he needed a new challenge, go on lad, I'll hold the door....

Yes, he's quite good. I was planning to sell him in the summer anyway (and bring back Gribbin from loan to be Mata's back up). Pretty much play twice every week now so couldn't risk letting him go and didn't want to gamble on Gribbin midway through.

Sold Rooney for 18m in my save. He was actually quite good but I wanted Wilson to get a go (who's sopred 25 goals in the season so far!)

Season's cracking along nicely, top of the table, still in the Fa Cup and in the quarters of the CL, City knocked me out of the League Cup, sadly.

January was a little bit tasty....

Youth intake had 4 players that look like they could make it at the club.

TFM well on the way to becoming a beast. Plays well for the first team as is, tidy wee ball winner.

Next season's budget confirmed, next season confirmed to be mental.

Still have enough money to pick up a cracking holding mid to back up/replace Schneiderlin, but he's brilliant as a pure CM(D). Maybe Kante or Bender....
