"The fault in our stars"
Although, they do vary also on club reputation. They vary also depending on how much gametime a player is getting. If its not enough he will be downgraded and will be upgraded as he gets minutes on pitch

This is the player in question.

He got downgraded this current season (i.e. not the season I got promoted) and mid-season, so it wasn't like there were new players coming in to downgrade him.

I think the theory that the game randomly decides 'lol feck you' is better than there being any logic to it.

Its possible that the player was a borderline case for a particular star rating and your club's reputation increased

It also depends if you've brought someone else in. If you've brought in someone else in his position who might be better, the star rating might change due to be bar being raised.

Nope, this happened over-night midseason.

Was it the same scout that gave both reports?

I'm going by the Assistant Managers reports (20/20 JPA/JPP) one day 5 star potential, the next 3 and a half. I mean the rep could explain it if we happened to win a game that bumped our rep up past a threshold, but then I'd expect players to get downgraded across the board if that was the case.

Scouts rated him 5 star potential when I signed him (but I was a Div 2 side then) and all coaches did when I checked until the day they all decided that they didn't.

Check and see if the scouts ratings have decreased. It tends to happen on some saves.

Aaah, don't be surprised by that. It happens all the time. Usually when a player's form has been really good or really bad, the AM's report tends to fluctuate to reflect his importance to the team. It usually just appears suddenly overnight.

Well yeah I know, its just frustrating and stupid.

My point is more that it shouldn't, either progressively downgrade, or be more honest in the first place. Don't just have it so overnight all the coaches opinions change.

And more to the point, if this is now correct and he is 3 1/2 star current and potential, that in itself is something a bit stupid. PA should definitely increase if its matched by CA at 20 years old.

I never pay much attention to the star system anyways. You can get to know more from the Pro's and Cons. For example does it say that your player is playing at close to full potential ?

Started a save with Bradford City, on full mode so I'd have to deal with squad rules, ffp and such. All well and good, except I set my experience as Sunday league footballer so none of my squad respect me.

Board want a top half finish, but I brought in a lot of loans and a few freebies, and we're looking at a promotion battle, maybe....

After a 1-0 win where we played shit against Port Vale, I gave them a bollocking, and Razak threw a tanty. Chucked him in the reserves and replaced him with Ledson. I'm not paying a penny for any of the loaness wages, which is nice.

Clubs facilities aren't great, and the youth recruitment is junk, so I'd like to spend time developing the club, rather than splashing on star players, this could be a slow burn save if I stall in the Championship.

I'm in season 21/22 and flying with Leeds (top of Prem after 12 games, losing 1 and winning 11 and top of CL group) but my finances are shocking. I'm currently £53 million in the red and the projected balance at the end of the 23/24 season is minus £294 million :nervous: What do I do?!

Pretty sick season with United just now. Went through the season unbeaten (W30 D8) and Depay ended the season with an average rating of 8.31

Edit: My 3rd season at United, and probably an unparalelled season compared to any of my other saves in FM16 (or even FM14/15 for that matter).

The septuple was complete with a 5-0 win against Leeds in the FA Cup final, and a 5-0 win against Man City in the Champions League final. Undefeated in all competitions with an average squad age of 22.9. Not really sure where to take it from here.

This has been one of the craziest season I've seen in FM.

Wazza with an extra time winner in the CL final over Gary Neville's Valencia....

My own season...

The amazing thing here, is Burnley actually made it to the FA Cup final too, a shame they lost to Spuds.

I added these two in January, and they had a massive impact, both could easily play in the Prem... Diego Rubio & Louis Reed

I said I'd play it slow and carefully, but I'm in a fairly unique situation, the board gave me 5m(admittedly not massive money even for the Championship), and the fact I have European football in my first Championship season means I have an opportunity to pick up a few better players than I should have.... Though it'll most still be cheap poached players from other small sides and not wanteds from big clubs. They do expect mid table Championship off the bat so I do need to be stronger. If I can scrape a group stage berth in the Europa I'd make some great money for the club too.

Very interesting summer coming up....

One of my coaches got pissed at me when I tried to ask him to stay when Blackpool offered him the manager position. Obviously I would never get in his way if he wanted to test his managerial skills, so I gracefully stepped aside to let him join the club.

I then proceeded to make an offer for every single one of his players, unsettled the entire team and the bitch is relegated and been fired. Best of luck to ya, you traitor.

No hard feelings though. xoxo

Just finishing up the second season, this team has been truly mental, only gone and got into the Europa League final.

It's like every single team has come expecting a walkover, then we bombard their goal.....

EDIT: My striker broke Falco's 17 goal record with 19.

That reminds me, my assistant manager went off to manage Aston Villa. The second he got sacked, I booted out the guy that replaced him and hired him straight back. I feel like the guy that I've got rid of is destined to take over at City or Liverpool now.

Also, I'm sure I saw someone talk about how the icons/legends are broken. I've got De Gea at 32 playing for United still, he's won everything possible, and he's not on any of the "favoured personnel" lists :wenger:

Reminds me of a time I went to OT with a few guys, we got front row seats right behind the goal. One of the lads took a pic of De Gea, and we heard from some louts a few rows back who were drunkenly shouting at each other(to call it talking would be unrealistic), "what the feck's he taking a pic of him for, he's just a feckin' goalie!"

This was back in Sir Alex's last season though, when we didn't need De Gea to save our arses every week, wonder if he feels the same now.......

Just to back the point up, as I'm able to look at my game now.

De Gea has 398 league appearances for United since signing. For me he's made 267 league appearances, and kept 118 clean sheets. Looking at Wikipedia's list of keepers that have 100 or more clean sheets, his record is better than Schmeichel's when you look at the average (0.44 for De Gea against 0.42 for Schmeichel - although Schmeichel's would be City and Villa too)

But what fabled players are ahead of De Gea? There's Martin Gil (regen with 41 league appearances), Christian Pulisic (46 league appearances), Timothy Fosu-Mensah (168 league appearances, mainly operating as a squad player), Callum Gribbin (124 league appearances, the majority off the bench), and Epi Werleman (regen with 34 league appearances). This is just looking at "favoured personnel," never mind the icons and legends. None of them are bad players, but it's like Schweinsteiger being considered more of a United legend than Keane or something.

David's average rating isn't fantastic (6.96 in the league overall), but I'm actually annoyed about this (way more than I should be, tbf).

Wow puts Fergie's reaction to Kidd leaving in perspective.

Made a save after the newest update a while ago using United (usually my long term United save). Leicester finished 2nd (behind me as United though), Arsenal/City/Spurs were all within like 2 points of each other, 6 points behind leicester, Chelsea down in 10th... Impressively accurate update. Apart from Southampton and Stoke getting relegated, but more with regards to Leicester actually being good.

Also somehow Fenerbache won the champions league, beating Barca in the quarters, me as United in the semi's and City in the final. No idea how the feck that happened.

Welp.. 16th of February and I've already racked up 100 goals in the league

Edit: Make that 102 :D

Edit 2: At this rate, both Martial and Dybala will break Andy Coles 34 PL goals in a season

Summer window after my first season... Brought in Kane for 60m, Griezmann for 60m, Dier for 27m and Kimmich for 17m. Got rid of Carrick, Young, Rojo, Valdes, Varela, Darmian, Schneiderlin, Mata, Schweinsteiger, Ibrahimovic, Valencia, Lingard, Rooney and Herrera for a combined 150m... Summer clearout indeed
Had Pjanic, Stones and Reus from my first season so line up like:

De Gea
Dier Stones Smalling Shaw
Pjanic Blind
Reus Griezmann Martial
Kane
Mostly want to use youth players as the bench so I have Johnstone, Fosu Mensah, Phil Jones, CBJ, Kimmich, Pereira, Januzaj, Memphis, Rashford, Wilson as my squad players. Could probably use a tiny bit more depth at the back or in defensive mid. But I want to develop TFM and Kimmich for that so I probably won't buy anyone. FM with United is only fun if you focus on youth.

Phil Jones is hilariously good in this. Him and Smalling are keeping Laporte on bench for me. Darmian picks up atleast 3 redcards per season. Front four of Memphis, Martial, Adnan and Lukaku is just

In my game I beat Liverpool 5 - 0 away at Anfield early on in the season and they've never recovered. They sacked Klopp midway through the season and they currently sit 19th, 5 points from safety with 8 games to go. I've pretty much got the title wrapped up so I'm more invested in the idea of them going down than I am my own team at the minute.

I'm still at FM15, but I bought back Ronaldo (surprise, surprise @FC Ronaldo) in 2017 for 30m GBP and now in 2020 at the age of almost 35 he is still the favorite to win the Ballon d'Or

Glad to see FM15 still gets things right.

I've won everything four seasons in a row, I got 11 players into the team of the season and I'm currently 2 seasons unbeaten in the league  I got way too many players, looking to offload anyone less than great. The press links me to Neymar, which is laughable since I got every position covered atleast three times over. I obviously have to place a bid, it gets accepted and now I own a brand new Neymar.

I never learn in this bloody game.
