Gaming Football Manager 2016

Frustrated as hell with my Sheffield Wednesday save right now. Won the championship in my first season(which was unexpected) only added Lingard and McNair plus some bench players but was happy with my squad. Now after 8 games I'm bottom of the league with 1 win which was opening day again Arsenal.

My last game i jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Everton. Score at the end of the game was 8-3 to them. Could have put my fust through the fecking computer screen.

I remember in 15 I had a United save. Playing Chelsea in the league cup semi, I won 1-0 at their place. Went 3-1 up by halftime at home. 4-1 on aggregate, pretty safe.

They proceeded to score 4 times in the last 20 minutes,including 3 in the last 10, before I scored in injury time to make it 5-4, 5 all on aggregate.

I then needed a goal desperately in extra time, having taken off quite a few attackers in my desperate attempt to stop them scoring at the end of normal time. I was hoofing it up to Smalling by the end, when di Maria scored an offside goal in the 119th minute to put me through.

It was such a weird game, whenever the game screwed me over since then I thought back to that match. My entire attack and most of midfield were given 8s or 9s for the goals and assists I racked up, but my defenders...:nono:
 
Installed this and starting the United save. Thinking off selling Young, Valencia and Rooney. Any suggestions as to who to buy?

I second Kane. Got me 46 goals in both of my first two seasons at Spurs manager - in the first season he scored 35(!) in the league.
 
My journeyman save has been put on hold, as I joined a top 5 league-team :(

Starting the all England-save as well, as I always do one in every FM. Wanted to start with Tottenham though..

How on earth did you guys manage to buy Alli and Kane though? Got by bids for £160m rejected for both of them..

Edit: Had to bid £450m before the accepted..

Romagnoli Turns into one of the best center backs pretty quickly. Good partnership with smalling too. Young you could probably keep around for the start, hes quite useful.

For up top.... Kane is your best option, but memphis on the left with martial up top is really good too. They upgraded mahrez so you can try getting him for chalet, or just throw 60m at reus or griezmann depending on which you like more.
 
So not a great start. Got Monaco in the CL qualifying round. Martial, Mata, Morgan and Carrick got injured in the first two weeks. Did auto-select in my CL squad selection thing which meant that the game registered 6 of my goalkeepers in the 25 man squad(bear in mind I'm playing 16.2 which means Valdes, Vanja Milkinovic is still in the game). Starting with Gribbin and Wilson in the first leg, thankfully it's at home as both of my new signings Jese and Tielemans are both ineligible.

In my Bayern Munich save I won 3-1 at home in the 1st leg of the Champions League QF against United. Totally dominated them and it would have been 4 had Vidal decided not to pass it to DDG from the penalty spot. Went back to OT and went a goal up inside 10 and then United scored 6 :eek: I did not have any other shot on target during the game.

Struggling to win the CL in this version. Got beat 1-0 in the final by atletico Madrid last season and it was a deflected goal during extra time and in my 1st season Juventus steamrolled me 4-0 in the home leg. On all 3 occasions I went through the group stage unbeaten :lol:
 
Not really getting anywhere now with my Leeds save and just sold arguably my two best players to City (Embolo and Kimmich). I've got a job offer from Arsenal, should I stick or twist?

Awww :(, I don't even have the game and your journeyman updates were the most entertaining thing about this thread! Would have convinced me to buy it and try it out if I had a laptop that could handle more than 6-7 leagues at once.
 
My Milan save is moving pretty slowly now. PC can't seem to handle it.

Oh well, might start a new save with Villarreal and start with less leagues (bloody had 15 in my Milan save) but I'm not sure if I forgive them after FM14 where I turned them into the greatest club of all time, only for them to name their new stadium after fecking Pellegrini.
 
I won the Europa League with Gothenburg. A month later, I'm entering the first qualifying round of the Europa League again. Why am I not in the Champions League? I promised all my players we'd get there, or I'd let them leave.

They're going to be pissed as feck when I tell them I need another year.
 
Start of the transfer window for my third season and I have made the heartbreaking decision to sell Martial, Depay, De Gea and Januzaj. Pretty much all my best players and all my last remaining foreign players in my first team.

I am determined to start my third season with an all British squad!
 
I cant decide if I want to go with an all youth-squad, or an all English-one. So I'm kind of inbetween right now. Soon to finish my first season, and I've bought these:

Del Piero (for 3 months before he retired :drool:)

Jonny (literally the best RB i've ever bought in this game :drool:)

Enjoying the mix between youngsters and an English core though, after promoting Gribbin, Rashford, TFS, Ro'shaun and Josh Harrop which have gained 100 caps in the league all together (and I'm only in march). Average age is right above 22, with the likes of Carrick and Bastian still with the team. Kind of fun.

Started a save with Man Utd, took over in Dec when the team were 9th but through to the 2nd round of the CL against PSG. Signed Laporte and a few youngsters in the January transfer window, and kept all the players. Managed to get 4th on the last game of the season, with Bournemouth finishing 3rd and Chelsea missing out on the CL. Went out the CL to PSG.

Signed Saul Niguez on a free from Atletico, Barkley for 40m, Breel Embolo for 12m. Valencia wanted a new challenge so let him go then got rid of Valdes, Romero, Young, Fellaini and Rooney (on loan to Everton). Promoted youth into the first team with Varela, CBJ, Januzaj and Lingard.

Managed to win the league, again on the last day of the season, lost in Semi Final of the FA Cup to Chelsea in ET, in quaters of CL had Madrid, lost 2-0 at the Bernabeu and managed to win 3-0 at OT to set up a tie against Milan, got a 1-1 draw away and considering how good we are at OT, I thought it would be a walk over but lost 2-0 somehow.

Didn't really want to sign anyone in the summer as had loads of youngsters developing that had previously bought and loanees coming back, but had 147m to spend so met Pogba's release clause at 88m and brought him back. Promoted Rashford and Wilson to bolster my strikeforce as was light at times last season, they had both done well on loan at Premiership clubs, had too many CM's now with Pogba, Barkley, Saul, Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Schneiderlin and Blind, so got rid of Blind as had adequate depth at LB now with Shaw/CBJ and CB (Smalling and Laporte with Rojo and Jones as back-up). Brought Pereira into the first team as well, who's started off well. Loaned out TFM again but he will feature next season when Schweinsteiger goes and Gribbin will come into the team when Mata goes, he's 31 now so probably got another season left.

Got a few good regens who have come through the United Academy so there isn't really a need to buy anyone anymore. My youngsters & loanees include Lincoln, Thiago Maia, Rafik Zekhmini, TFM, Callum Gribbin, Tyrell Warren.

So Team is

GK: De Gea, Illias Moutha Sebtaoui (been at United Academy from a young age)

RB: Guillermo Varela/ Matteo Darmian/ Tyrell Warren (United product)
CB: Smalling, Laporte, Jones, Rojo
LB: Shaw, CBJ

DM: Schneiderlin/ Schweinsteiger
CM: Barkley, Pogba, Saul, Herrera

RM: Mata, Januzaj
LM: Depay, Lingard, Peirera

CF: Martial, Embolo, Wilson, Rashford.

So 11 youth products in and around the first team so quite happy with that, hopefully win the CL this year around.

- Joined GAP Connors Quay because they were the only team who'd take me on. Finished 2nd and qualified for the Euro Cup
- Won the Gold Cup with Jamaica, massively boosting my rep
- Left Connors Quay after getting thumped by an Estonian team
- Joined Barnet in League 2

So I'm now Barnet manager doing fairly well. I then get this email in my inbox:

Going into my second season with my youth save this weekend. Real just made me a 50M € for Schneiderlin and I have to accept according to my own rules. I hope Cook will be ready to step up for a starting place. He did quite well last season.

Managed to get three really good newgen youngsters in. 2 Spanish midfielders (16&17) and 1 Italien CB (16). Still scouting the market but so far no younglings anymore that stand out in my eyes.
 
Anyone else played the start your own club mode? Have just started my own club in league 2. Hoping to reach the PL within five years.
 
Jumped ship from my Gothenburg save. Gone to bottom of the league PSV. Cocu got sacked and everyone is pissed and wants to leave. They have about 12 injuries and haven't won a single game so far this season. It's gonna be grim.
 
I think my game has cocked up a bit. I raided Gothenburg for one of my best young players and brought him to PSV with me. Transfer went through, paid a couple of mill for him. He's registered in my league and Europa League squad. He's made a few appearances, scored goals, the lot. Then as I was about to play a Europa League fixture, this particular player was unavailable because he was playing for Gothenburg in another fixture that day(??). When I look at Gothenburgs squad, there he is. But when I click on his name, it brings up that he's a PSV player, but he's still playing games for Gothenburg as well.

So, it looks like we're sharing him, even though I'm paying his wages. Those crafty little shits.
 
I'm starting to feel like LvG here. I have a good record against the big teams, the occasional loss occurs but more often then not I win the big matches. Yet against the small teams I dominate like crazy and despite having 10-15 shots on target against them I barely can scrap a goal. Everyone of their GKs seems to have the game of their lives against me. It already cost me last seasons title and I'm affraid this season won't be much better if I can't get a grip on these games. The problem is if I attack they will hit me on the counter, if I go to a more standard and slow build up they will probably score from a standard and my chance conversion is just fecking bad.

Just to compare I won against City with 4-2 while having just 6 of 9 shots on target. Then the next game I play Ajax 10 of 23 shots on target 0-0 was the end result and stuff like this seems to keep repeating itself over and over again.

Against the big teams my finishing is mostly dead on but against the small teams it feels like me team can't hit a barn door with a banjo. :mad:
 
FMUpdates have released their English lower league (EEE) database now. With fully functioning FA Vase qualification, team cup histories and what not. Will be another version in not too long with some minor fixes, but it looks pretty sweet. There a ton of cups there too, including the regional Manchester Senior Cup.

Sooo in the middle of the season Rooney thinks he has achieved enough with the club and wants to leave. Good he can feck of, isn't even a starter anyways. Hoping I can get some good money for this 31 year old crook.

In other news, Schweinsteiger was home sick and wanted to leave for a month, gave him his wish and hope I won't come to regret it. But this way his backup will get some long needed first team experience under his belt.

Edit: fecking Arsenal made a £ 10M but I wasn't going to sell him to a rival from my own league, so I asked for £ 25M and they canceled their bid. Now Rooney is angry with me that I didn't accept what he thought was a reasonable bid. The fecker is going to the reserves if he is trying to act up over it.
