I desperately need to find quality CBs though and I'm looking if I can sell Rojo or Jones next summer, whoever gets an offer first is out but I guess I would prefer to keep Rojo since he is left footed, I'm like LvG in that regard. Tuanzebe looks like a decent talent in the reserves but still some way off before I would trust him in the PL so I can only pray for Smalling and Rojo not to get injured atm.

I bought Eric Dier in one of my saves and he was an absolute monster, as a bonus you can also move him to DM if you want a destroyer later in the game.

Too old unfortunately. Can't get him to be home grown anymore so not an option. I restricted myself a bit and players that I buy need to be able to become home grown players for me and I also chose only to buy players with Spanish, German, English, Italian and French nationalities. So basically I need someone from those 5 countries who who isn't older than 18.

The first season of my shake up with Man Utd ended spectacularly. Got Barca in the CL semis, and decided to play on the counter and hope to not be outclassed. Indeed we weren't as Dele Alli took it upon himself to nab a brace and an assist in a 3-1 smashing. Went on to loose the 2nd leg, 2-1, for a 4-2 agg win, Man City took out Real Madrid(in the Chelsea-est way possible). Then we tore them to pieces in the final to complete a quadruple, having taken out Liverpool in the Fa Cup, and Arsenal in the COC.

Interestingly, I retrained Rooney to play as a CM, and it's breathed new life into his career for both club and country. Key component for Man Utd, and averaged a 8.9 rating in the Euros(made the dream team too), though England list the final to Germany on penos after a 0-0 game.

Had a monstrous youth intake, looks like 6+ will be Premiership players, and a few of them can be key at that, including a much lauded "potentially best of his generation" goalkeeper and a CM that could conceivably replace Rooney in a few years, currently loaned out Will Hughes is earmarked as next in line for that slot though, him and Lewis Cook who is currently Rooneys backup.

On to the summer, and the transfer window was quite busy, but moreso for the academy. Four of the first team squad leave, two arrive, and two promotions leave us bang on with 16 Englishmen, 1 Irishman, and 5 Europeans(2 French, 2 Portuguese and 1 Dutch). I could loose up to 4 more Englishmen for British and Irish, but there's no one available, and probably no useful upgrades unless Bale becomes an option.

These are the key transfers.

Berardi wanted his wages multiplied, within one season, so off he goes, Rashford was promoted in his place.

Why the feck do the board at Milan consider the European Super Cup as important? Won the Champions League and Italian cup and I've apparently underachieved overall because I came second in the league and lost in the European Super Cup - they were devastated we lost

It always is, everywhere I've managed, for some reason. The Club World Cup too.

Madness. I'd be chucking out the U-18's in the CWC if I had my way.

Anyway, knew this was going to happen after the commentary text said "surely its just a consolation..."

Thankfully, Mario doesn't play for that nonsense.

Champions League final, Messi's last game as a professional.

Balotelli might have regressed to the point he wouldn't make many Serie B teams, but he scored 18 goals for me as a back up striker. Constantly scoring in the big games. What a guy.

Shoutout to the one guy who is always on my bench, never getting a minute of playing time and doesnt complain. What a trooper.

So, I have this guy:

cEYAAdq.png

I've been playing him in midfield as a deep-lying playmaker, and he's doing really well (10 goals and 8 assists in 26 league games this season, average rating of 7.97). I wonder if there might be a better way to use him. My team is set-up like this:

GK
FB (auto) Central Defender (defend) Central Defender (defend) FB (auto)
DLP (Support) BWM (Support)
Inside Foward (Support) Attacking Midfielder (Attack) Inside Forward (Support)
Advanced Forward (Attack)
And I feel like he could do a job in almost all of those positions (minus central defender and goalkeeper). He's actually done fine as a BWM for me before. I like that he's so versatile, but I'd like to settle on a position for him to specialise in, but I have no idea what.

With that pace and acceleration put him on the wing as an attacking mid and see how he does. If he doesn't perform move him back to central midfield.

It's OK guys, he very politely solved my problem by getting injured.

I'll try him inside left when he gets back though. Cheers.

I've started a new Utd save. It's basically a tribute to Louis van Gaal and the total football approach. The idea is to have as much possession as humanly possible and give the players absolutely zero creative freedom. My tactics are control, structured, no risky passes, short passing, don't cross, don't roam, etc.

To achieve this I want a team comprised of only midfielders with at least 16 in passing. Obviously that's hard to do so I decided to give myself a £500m transfer budget to do it.

Here's my team:

GNpBzZQ.jpg

If I don't average at least 70% possession I'll consider this a failure. I'm not really bothered about winning games or scoring goals.

I'm trying to get rid of basically anyone who isn't a midfielder but it's really hard to. I sold Ashley Young for £1,000.

Wish me luck.

This is bullshit, only won one pre season game and it was the only one I had less possession than the other team in. D'feck?

This is great

First game of the season went well, players are obviously adjusting to the system so to have more possession than Spurs at WHL was a great achievement. I congratulated them all on their performance at the end but weirdly they didn't react very well.

Goal came from a set piece too

I have something like that

Hit some good form though recently, after some proper Van Gaal results.

Decided to start a game with United and nick a few ideas from @Earthquake. Mainly the idea of having a core English team with little foreigners and imposing a rule on myself which means I cant sign any player over the age of 21, preferably 18. I was going to say all english players but I decided if I want a foreign youngster I would have to get rid of an existing non-English player in my squad.

So...

Starting with my system, I've always been a lover of 4-1-2-3 but after looking at some other versions of it I decided to try a version with inside forwards so it looks like this:

vz8ImiH.png

Next is my signings, Shamelessly copied some of the signings too as the just made sense

CGMHV0c.png

Some no brainers here, Alli and Stones who I couldnt resist and went straight in with offers which got accepted and I brought them in. Andy King was brought in as a backup midfielder who can play multiple positions and is not a bad footballer, for 4 Mil it just made sense. Maguire and Cook I liked the look of from Earthquake's game so I got them too. Moussa Dembele I wanted as I like the look of him and Rodrigo was brought in as a backup for either the wing or the striker positions. Berahino wasnt planned but he went on the transfer list and I got him as backup to Martial as I'd just sold Rooney.

Also got Butland coming in next year as I plan to sell off De Gea. Looking for a good British RB ATM and considered Dier but theyre just asking too much money £100M+ so will have to look elsewhere but I'll do some scouting over the rest of the season. Edit: Considering Chambers and also a young guy (Emmanuel) from Ipswich

efKeRb5.png

I went straight in and sold off a few of the players I didn't really intend to use or fancy as I wanted to build a British midfield. Herrera, Fellaini, Blind, Rojo, Rooney and Mata were the biggest names to go, freeing up loads of room in wages which was nice. I'm not counting Adnan and Pereira as foreign as I'd consider them homegrown but with them included my non british players are.

Played 12 games so far and the team has been so solid. 5 goals conceded in 12 games! Very pleased with the Barca result, they were without Messi but I totally contained them and turned out to be an easy win really.

I am literally doing the same thing right now.

Let me now how the 4-1-2-3 works for you cause I am struggling to decide on a lineup. Though with Rashford and Wilson on 5* potential I think having two strikers may be the way forward.

Just done this, actually rested Smalling and Shaw too

Smashing work there! Keep on Dier, after a few months they'll accept 40-50m and you may not find a finer fullback. That said, Jones is a fine fullback, though a wee bit slow for the role. I find Chambers is better at CB. Cook is basically going to be incredible, broke his leg for me, dropped a touch of pace, but is coming along immensely anyway. It's a real shame Gribbin doesn't make the FMT cut, as he'd have been all up in these kind of saves.

I am settling with 4-2-3-1 for now. I am also in the process of signing the Stones and Alli. The obvious choices. Might have a crack at Dier as well. See if I can get more luck.

Sold Blind for the same price as you but the fee will probably rise to £30 million. Easy money there. I want Butland but I just can't bring myself to sell De Gea so he will be a survivor of the exodus for now.

fecking Reece Oxford flat out rejected me cause he would rather stay at West Ham :(

I am planning on raiding the u18s of other Premier League clubs though and see what I can find.

Yeah real shame there's no Gribbin. Could've used him for sure.

Took a punt on a few youngsters from the championship, English of course.

Ryan Nyambe, 17 y/o RB from Blackburn for 1 Mil. Potential to be a solid backup RB, rated

Joe Rankin-Costello, 16 y/o CM from Blackburn too. Slightly more at 1.6 Mil but he's got good physical stats for his age IMO, excluding strength, rated at 4*

Also somehow messed up the Butland deal so he's not coming in next year

Didnt even bother offereing him a deal as I knew he wouldnt be interested FS

@Berbaclass

How on earth did you get so much for Herrera? The best I can manage is a £9 million bid from Everton

Plus I could only manage £22 million for Mata.

And on top of that I cannot get a Dele Alli bid accepted for shit. I am getting near the £60 million mark now. Not as good a start for me!

Just offered them all out as soon as I started. Thought it was a good price myself

Alli I just bid 40 Mil and they accepted straight away which surprised me too!

I must have been to hesitant. I might have to concede on Alli. £60 million has now been rejected.

My scouts are going to go on strike at this rate.

I went on scouting and set the nationality to English and age to at most 21. Demanded the entire list gets scouted

Doing alright. Still unbeaten since the first game, played about 17 now. Too many draws in the league though!

Considering stones at RB. Had him there on my PSV save last year and he was fantastic TBF, would mean:

Stones-Jones-Smalling-Shaw

Like the look of that TBH!

I found with Spurs, they'd accept a reasonable bid for any one of Kane, Alli, or Dier, but after that wouldn't want to sell the other two. So I got Kane in the first summer, Dier in the winter, and Alli next summer.

Negotiating right now for Dier, they want 60, I've offered 50 (30 up top and the 20 in installments)

Meanwhile I have had to give up on the Spurs players and blew most of my budget on Grealish and Ward-Prowse. Them cnuts better end up as world beaters

I suppose it will be more interesting when comparing to yours and Earthquakes games having different players.

Nearing the end of my first season in my youth save I have to say as good as the first half of the season was I'm in total collapse mode at the minute.

My 12 point lead is down to 3 points in the league. Got beaten by Southampton in the FA-Cup semi-final and now lost my CL semi-final 1-5 against Real Madrid. Tried to adept my tactics a bit but nothing I do seems to work. Hardly generate any chances and concede with pretty much every attack. Kinda crazy considering that the same team before only conceded 7 and scored 76 goals in 24 league games. Last 9 league games were 5 goals scored and 6 conceded. Not winning a single league game during that time.

Hope I can turn this around and not get a Moyes like negative record of losing the league after a 12 point lead.

Ohh FFS!

Had my bid and contract for Dier accepted but didnt have the cash, was short by two fecking million. Had to back out.

Went straight back in with a deal I could afford, got accepted, and he's now not interested now cause I backed out of the deal :mad:
