Gaming Football Manager 2016

The AI transfers need an upgrade. Barca are so poor in the market for instance. Just letting the squad go to shit.

I bought Neymar for a huge deal. 50mil or so + Memphis but they sold Memphis to Arsenal a year later and have now got Ayoze Perez in. Wtf.

Who to buy? July 2017. My team is:
DDG
Danilo- Smalling - Laporte -Shaw
Pogba - Thiago Alcantara
D. Costa - Mata or Götze - Memphis or Hazard
Martial

Smalling cannot be upgraded. He had a hell of a season and Varane is ungettable. Costa won POTY so no right winger needed. I guess maybe a striker (couldn't get Neymar or Lewa) or a more defensively minded CM to give Thiago some competition.

Money is definitely not a problem. I had Messi lined up but he decided to renew his contract with Barca instead

Get a proper defensive CM. Thiago proabably has shity defensive stats and Pogba has offensive PPMs and is wasted as a defender anyway.

Yes. The squad management AI is utterly pathetic and it's ruining any kind of long term fun for me. Because no matter how bad your starting position is the AI teams just keep making their squads worse and worse, while as a human you can easily pick up the best talents/new gens or those quality players the ai lets go of on the cheap every year because they basically didn't play them at all because another guy is 5% stronger.

I just sabotaged Monaco's deal for bazoer. I had bought him when I was at Utd and developed him into an absolute beast and the feckers accepted a 20mil bid for him. I matched, offerered an insane contract so that he turned down Monaco and then cancelled the transfer. Not right but feck it. They sold Embolo for 15mil odd the season before, daft.

Yep. Barcelona are shocking in the long run.

The AI is still a complete disaster.

September 2017, I got Götze for free and Hazard for 37,5m to United . Already have players like Pogba, Verratti, Laporte, Danilo, Douglas Costa. Aiming for the treble.

You have to admire QPR's wishful thinking. I noticed Memphis was wanted by some clubs in the third season, had a look and the clubs were. Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern and QPR. QPR are sitting dead last in the premier league after narrowly avoiding relegation the year before. Something tells me that he wouldn't want to go there.

I dunno how, considering how badly it cheats by knowing the ratings of players, everytime I try to buy a young player no-one has bid for, the AI clubs say 50mil as asking price, yet sell same player to AI club a week later for 7.

Well time passing may mean that the player cried because of rejected offers and the club caved in and lowered their demands from prohibitively high (as another way of saying he's not for sale) to a fair price and afaik most news screens only show you what a club offered to pay upfront and ignore all the extra clauses, like payments over time.

That being said I tried to sign Emoblo a couple of days ago, because I got the message that some other club was interested in him. The negotiations window was showing me some offer in the region of like €15m from the competing club, but Basel wouldn't even give me a counter offer when I bid like €30-40m straight up. That's the first time I've noticed it to such an extend though.

I'll never complain about Barca. They signed Blind and Schneiderlin off me for silly money.

Went to buy Kane, they wanted £61m + bonuses making the deal work nearly £80m, offered them £30m and took most bonuses away and they accepted.

Wanted a new CB but failed to buy Stones (despite offering £20m more and a better contract than Arsenal, who ended up getting him) and Laporte. Though Rojo has been solid so far so not actually too bothered.

The game still feels a little too easy with top clubs, but I'm only a few games into the season so should probably hold off on that, and did lose to Southampton already.

Blind is odd, crap attributes, but consistently great performances, always see Madrid, Barca or Bayern buy him if he doesn't stay at United forever.
Crap attributes? His decision making id insane. So is his attribute that we in Norway call 'understanding of the game' which I have no idea what is called in english. Anyway, his mental attributes are insane, and combined with his defensive technical attributes makes him a very good player.

He has good, very good even mental attributes, nothing even getting close to "insane" though, along with average defensive attributes, average physical attributes(barring crap speed), his technical attributes are a mixed bag, mostly meh but a few of the key ones are good, and his vision isn't very good for a playmaker.

In all my years playing FM, I've never done the journeyman save where I start up as unemployed without any coaching badges or experience. I'll give myself 10-15 years without any offers until I start over, loaded more or less all the countries in the original database though only the main divisions.

Wish me luck!

First update:

Started off badly, as two of the first available clubs in Asia literally laughed at me.

Canada U23 did offer me a job though, might as well accept it and build up some experience.
Edit: It's quite hard to assemble a team due to the national first team has already taken all decent, semi-decent and even shite player available.

He's perfect for regista.

Tip for anyone managing a top10 club in one of the big leagues who need a cheap backup CB or a starting CB if you're not a top club;

Kyriakos Papadopoulos. What a player. He might not have the highest current ability so his scouting report will not be very good but ignore that. Look at his stats. Pair him with an intelligent CB who can cover behind him. He's almost Vidic ffs. He's starting ahead of Laporte in my team.

Update #2:

I've now been rejected for about 40+ jobs, and Canada U23 is yet to play a game!

Good luck.

How many red cards so far?

Alright. Soon to start qualifying for the Olympics, which I guess is the only games I'm ever going to get as the Canadian U23 manager. Every single decent player has been taken to the senior squad, and the few decent ones I've gotten my hands on are out with injuries.

70 jobs rejected as well, I just need one lucky break to get my badges and shit. Come on, FM Universe!

Ah, poor Panama U23 suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of the mighty Maple Leafs.

Edit: Now Cuba suffered the same faith, losing 6-1 to the mighty Northerners.

Next up is the US of A, and I would imagine the true test of this team.

A nation was proud today as minnows Canada held USA to a decent 0-0. We won the qualifying group, and are now facing Mexico in the semis. I'm not quite sure how this works, but I reckon only the winner qualifies for the Olympics?

The Mexican suffered a 3-1 defeat, and once again we face USA. Now in the final, with a place in the Olympics at stake! Can they do the unthinkable?

42mins since the last edit. How many times are you going to replay the final. Let it go :D

My best CB got a red after 10 mins, and we lost 2-0 in the final. Terrible decision, but this is the time we dust our self off and go again......

Ah, that sucks. Job search again.

Yup :(

Being the ambitious manager that I am, I had to resign from my Canada-duty to get my tan on as the manager of the Zambian national team. I was getting payed this time, which means that I can earn some training badges (right?)

On the bright side, I'm now important enough to get to vote in the Ballon d'Or, which I did. These beauties got my well deserved vote:

5 points: Otamendi
3 points: Robin van Persie (sub at Fener..)
1 point: Mats Hummels

About time Otamendi got his well deserved golden ball.

Only 84 days until my first game in charge, and I just discovered the "apply for all"-button in the job center, only after half a season. Now to add some lower leagues, as my 10% rep is not enough to get any sort of job. Need to work some miracles with this Zambia-team.

Wouldn't it be much easier to just go on holiday, with apply for all jobs, and return from holiday when offered a job active?

Where's the fun in that? I want them to look me directly in my eyes (or my inbox) when they reject me, rather than hanging around the pool.

I also need to prepare my team for the WC qualifiers.

This Zambia-team is really getting on my tits. The lack of work rate, motivation and the amount of times the team is uninterested / switched off / having terrible attitude is simply terrifying. Despite being dead last in the qualifying group, they show no effort and somehow are complacent when we're trailing by 3 goals by half time.

These motherfeckers are in for a rough ride if they dont show some effort!

I'm literally about to feck up this entire national team, simply because I now hate them. Both in FM in and in real life, just because of this game.

I'm about to get my first win. I'm at home to Kenya, who are now down to 9 men after getting two players sent off (one after 5 mins..). All my players suddenly stops giving a flying feck, and they equalise in the 93rd minute. Vs 9 men.

I hate them. Literally.

Team meeting after the National duty finishes. We're dead last in our group, not winning a single match.

I tell them that we're in danger of not qualifying and that we need to do better. ALL of the players reacts poorly, saying I expect too much of them.

I'm just going to quit this shambles of a national team.
