Gaming Football Manager 2016

Assyriska are supposed to only have players of Syrian origin, including those with Syrian second nationality. Is that the case in-game? I was planning on fixing that in the editor if not. There was an article about them in The Blizzard as well, which is a tri-monthly pay-what-you-want (digital only, hard copy cost £) publication about football.

Winning the CL with Stabaek is quite an achievement! Must've taken a while.

Also remembered Bröndby, in Denmark. Cool shirts, just to be a lot better than currently. They were the United's 5-0, 6-2 punching bag in the treble season UCL group stage. Somehow managed to get three points through drawing with Bayern München, and Barcelona, helping United get through.
No, sadly not the case in game, their star striker was Argentinian(and a quick google tells me he does indeed play for them), would have made them much more interesting to play as if it were. Their regens seemed to often, but not always, have 2nd nationalities, Syria, Iraq, Turkey and some others I can't remember.

There are some other clubs with rules like that that haven't been implemented in FM, sadly.

Yeah, you're right. Seems there are a 2-3 other non-Assyrian players as well. Must not be enforcing the rules as strictly as Bilbao in real-life, but if the regens had Syria, Iraq, and Turkish second nationalities, then that would be right. That's pretty neat. I know FC Korea in Japan gets all Korean players as well, and the Liechtensteiner teams, who all play in Switzerland, gets Liechtensteiner players. I'm not sure whether or not they can qualify for the Champions League though.

Vaduz can't get a CL place, I have no idea about any of the others.

Young Lions in Singapore should be U-23's only and only players potentially eligible for Singapore, but I think it isn't, and there's an English team well below playable called FC Romania, that should be all Romanians.

There's also an odd, but unlikely to come up bug, where Bilbao's feeders, Barakaldo, who should also be Baque only, but aren't, can sign players from anywhere. These players can be then called up to Bilbao, where they instantly become Basque.

Hoping that will be fixed in the upcoming patch, because I was planning on trying to work my way up to Bilbao in my long-term save. I've been wanting to do the basque-only thing for a while. It would be slightly irksome if you were to have a player you knew weren't basque in the team. Would probably end up selling. Don't Bilbao have too few affiliated clubs in this version though? I've noticed a bunch of teams losing a lot of affiliations from last year. There are even some smaller Spanish teams that aren't connected to their B team. There's a bunch of those instances in Mexico.

If Vaduz can't get CL, then it's unlikely that the other Liechtensteiner teams can.

I doubt it'll be fixed, IIRC it's been that way for years. Also, I've been mistaken, I said Barakaldo, but I of course meant their C team, Baskonia. They have 14 affiliates, including the B and C team, not too sure how many they used to have, but the ones I remember from 14 and 15 are there, Sestao River, Portugale, Barakaldo.

Has anybody played the iPhone/iPad version of this? Is it any good or is it just a poor mans substitute?

I have the android version of 14, I don't know if it's changed much, but it's a handy timekiller. The mini-challenges are decent for short flights, bus and train rides, that kind of thing.

Some of the old time players prefer it to the main games, reckon it's closer to 01/02 or whatever.

Cool, cheers dude!

Does anybody play the Drafts here ? I thought that might be fun. Building your team with a budget and playing against each other

Save has started to become a lot of fun, after Assyriska and Siofok, I finished up my time as Jamaica manager winning the Caribbean Cup in 2019. Floated about jobless for a few months, applying for anything that seemed interesting.

Blackburn! Managerless, 2 games of the season left and they had just confirmed survival in the Championship(I applied with 6 games left when they were still in the mix for relegation). So, barely survived, old squad, financial issues. A nice challenge, any upsides? Jordan Rhodes at 29 is still there and despite not having the best academy, they have a few well rated youths, possible that they're real prospects.

So, I finished the two games, Wigan and a real, real fun hammering of Coventry, a club who had rejected my advances, back at the end of the 2017/2018 season, and coincidentally, 1 month before I was hired by Blackburn. The extra-extra sauce on it was that beating them confirmed there relegation.

2m or so to spend, and a rebuild was on, cleared out most old guys(had to bring in two 31 year olds, though), cut down the wages massively, managed to shave 5 years off the average age. Younger, stronger, and with the finances tidied up, predicted to finish 23rd....

Well, I'd say we'll avoid 23rd. 5 games in, 5 wins, 16 scored and 1 conceded.

Also, Jordan Rhodes, jesus christ... I know it's the Championship, and early season, but he's scoring 2 a game....... Never managed him in a FM before, guy is ridiculous.

Newly promoted to the Premier League and 11th after a couple of months (pretty decent I think you'll agree) yet half of my squad are kicking off because I'm apparently underachieving. fecking game.

...and now I'm up to 9th in December yet half of my squad are submitting transfer requests because I'm "underachieving". Bullshit.

Which club? You too at Blackburn ?

Nah, Palace. Took the job when they got relegated. Got them back up, the club's expectations are simply to avoid relegation but all the players are kicking off. It's ridiculous really, because I was 9th when they all proper started kicking off so it's effected morale and as a result I'm not without a win in 6.

That's messed up. 9th is absolutely fine for a newly promoted club.

Second season in Milan, sold half the team. Brought in Balotelli, Felliani, Giminez, Ivanovic, Carrilo, Kranevitter and just for the lols Balotelli's shit brother. Who is kicking off and complaining that I didn't pick him in the CL squad. He claims he is better than most of the players in the squad. He has a CA of 44..

Still on FM2015.

Five seasons in and we've won 4 leagues and 2 CLs. Richest club in the world at £1.3bn. Stadium being upgraded to 70,000 capacity (New White Hart Lane). Kane, Lukaku, Ward Prowse, Balanta, Barroso, Romero are all beasts. Walker and Ben Davies are my secret weapons.

Narrow 4-3-3 and narrow 4-1-2-1-2 with FBs overlapping seem to be mega formations.

Also Chelsea built a new ground and have called it: Lampard Stadium!

Got Burton Albion promoted to the PL. Board have decided to expand the stadium. I was looking at the transfer listed players and saw someone called Anthony Martial for £10 million  Only made 4 league starts all season. United actually finished 5th, appointed Giggs as an interim and have now appointed Jose as their new manager:lol: Rojo, Carrick, Bastian and Young are also in the reserves transfer listed. I hope I get a decent budget and i'm going to sign Wilson on a perm and make a cheeky bid for Martial

I felt a bit like LVG in my 2nd season.

Gave CBJ 20 games in the season (He's complete wank btw) and even Joel Perrera got a few games after De Gea got injured. Won the FA cup and the league but lost the CL final to MAdrid after a Ronaldo double.

To anyone who has played with United: Is it normal that the Merchandising income is complete garbage?
Got 14M in the first season and now 18M in my second season, despite selling way over a million shirts. I'm guessing it's because Adidas get a major part of the sales, pretty annoying tbh.

Guardiola keeping the trophy laden habit going. 3rd consecutive league and CL title for Utd. 2 with me and now 1 with him

Has anyone tried playing kind of like the Chairman?

I'm thinking of starting as a club in the conference but not managing them, just using the editor to give them funds, sack/hire managers, expand the stadium, etc... to see how that goes and try and get them to the Prem.

Has anyone else ever made loads of progress on football manager for the game to crash and progress to be lost?

I got put off football manager when this one time I played about half a season in one burst, brought through loads of youth, had made excellent strides, won some tough matches and then the game went and froze on me. I remember how pissed off it made me and I've rarely played it since.

Yep. Normally, I just play the pirated version of the game, but one year, I bought the original (FM 2014) and made loads of progress. Built one of the greatest teams I had ever managed on any FM iteration and during a routine Save, the damn thing crashed. When I tried loading the same save again, it showed that the file was corrupted. :(. I was so pissed off, I didn't touch FM for over a year.

Feck, I save before matches, after matches, hell, I'd save during the matches if I could, have had similar happen before, won't take chances now.

Same. Lost a save due to the laptop chasing during save which corrupted the file. Maintain 2 rolling saves now.

Yeah I save after each game all the time.

My Milan team have De Bruyne and Martial in the side as we venture into the third season. Two third place finishes in a row have got me CL football. Martial isn't really clicking at the moment. Balotelli is banging in goals though.

Lamela keeps getting back strains and after the latest one it said he's considering retirement because of it. He's 25 I think. Do players retire young because of constant injuries on FM?

He's a great bargain, only cost £2.5m and he has 14 goals and 8 assists.

I had a Bilbao save in 2014 where a 19 year old striker, who was highly rated, broke his leg and promptly retired saying he didn't think he'd ever have his confidence restored.

Who to buy? July 2017. My team is:
DDG
Danilo- Smalling - Laporte -Shaw
Pogba - Thiago Alcantara
D. Costa - Mata or Götze - Memphis or Hazard
Martial

Smalling cannot be upgraded. He had a hell of a season and Varane is ungettable. Costa won POTY so no right winger needed. I guess maybe a striker (couldn't get Neymar or Lewa) or a more defensively minded CM to give Thiago some competition.

Money is definitely not a problem. I had Messi lined up but he decided to renew his contract with Barca instead

Tielemans, Gabigol (For your forward to rotate with), Verrati, Marquinhos ?
