Gaming Football Manager 2015

So I'm 3-1 up away at Stamford Bridge and then come away losing 5-3. Fair enough. That can happen. However, the last 4 of Chelsea's goals were exactly the same. And when I say exactly, I mean exactly. They were all scored by Schurrle attacking the near post from corners. What is Shurrle's heading stat I hear you ask? 6. feck off.

That's just the game fecking you over. Schurle always scores against me too, whether I win or lose.

Skins directory?

As in "Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2015/skins"

Yep, that's where I put them, but they don't appear in the dropdown menu in the interface preferences when I load up the game.

Do the Steam skins appear in the Steam folder or in your documents? Manually installed skins go where @Earthquake said, wouldn't be surprised if the Steam ones get installed somewhere else. If you're putting the manual install ones in the Steam folder then that's why it's not working for you.

The Steam installed ones appear in My Documents as well, as an .FMF file, so I can't even open the directory up and add the Icon sidebar to it.

A very minor gripe, but it's doing my head in.

Just had a run of games were I played City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Everton in the cup inside a month!

Pens are a cruel, cruel way to go out of a World Cup. :(

My USA team had a group of Togo, Spain and Italy. Beat Togo 8-0, Spain scored a last minute equaliser and drew with Italy to scrape through that ridiculously hard group only to draw Brazil! Was battered for 120 minutes only to miss the first two pens and lose 4-2. I didn't actually lose a game.

As I only got this 2 days ago I'm having my customary first go with United. Falcao is awesome but I don't really wanna spunk 45mil on him. What are my chances of letting him return to Monaco and then start negotiations from scratch? Anyone had any sucess with that?

Also, I'm trialling 352 with limited sucess at the moment. At first I had it set up like:

ST(P) ST(DLF/S)
AM(AP/A)
LM(DW/S) CM(RP/S) CM(DLP/D) RM(DW/S)
CB(D) CB(D) CB(D)
GK

I was scoring goals for fun but also letting them in at the other end like no tomorrow so I sacrificed by AM for a DM and set up like this:

ST(P) ST(DLF/S)
LM(DW/S) CM(RP/S) CM(AP/A) RM(DW/S)
DM(DLP/D)
CB(D) CB(D) CB(D)
GK

This is working an absolute treat. Still scoring a nice amount of goals and not conceeding many at all. This should make me happy, however I like buying AMs and this system doesn't really allow that unless I convert them to be able to play in midfield. Any suggestions how I can make the first formation I posted work? Just writing it down makes me think I could possibly change it to something like:

ST(P) ST(DLF/S)
AM(AP/A)
LM(DW/S) CM(D) CM(DLP/S) RM(DW/S)
CB(D) CB(D) CB(D)
GK

So FM gurus of the Caf... thoughts?

Instead of playing the two CMs next to each other, play one exclusively in the middle and one behind him as a CDM. Sure it looks ugly as feck but it works.

Aye but that messes with the aesthetics of the formation... :)

Drop the wide mids for wingbacks, or retrain your AM's as CM's.

ST---ST
AM
CM-----CM
WB------------------WB
CB---CB---CB

Or

ST---ST

WM----CM-----AM----WM
DM
CB---CB---CB

You could also try a 1 striker system that would basically be 3-5-2

ST
AM
WM---CM------CM---WM
DM
CB---CB---CB
GK
Offsetting the AM and ST slots if you want, which can be effective.

ST------

This last one, with a DLF or False 9, and a Shadow Striker, might try that myself if I get a chance.

@Carl: One thing I've found to be pretty effective for a three man defence is to have them set to Stopper, Cover, Stopper. The middle CB covers while the other two press, which seems to work pretty well. I usually have them as Ball-Playing Defenders too, not sure if that makes much of a difference to the defending side of things though. Worth a try anyway!

Thanks for the effort but no thanks.

I've already found a way of making a back 3 effective in the 2nd formation I posted. What I'm after is a way of making the first one I posted work.

Dropping the wide midfielders back to wingbacks was my first idea too but found it didn't make any difference really.

Hmmm will give the settings a whirl. Still think it's more to do with not enough protection from CM though really.

Yeah probably. Maybe two DLPs, one D one S? Depends on the players you have though I guess.

A variety. Carrick, Fellaini, Blind, Herrera and Kovacic.

Reckon I'll try Blind as a CM/D and then Herrera or Kovacic as a DLP/S and see how that goes.

I've never tried 2 DLPs together. Would that work? For some reason I tend to avoid having 2 players on the same settings. I've absolutely no idea why.

Probably worth varying it depending on who you're playing then, Carrick/Blind as two DLPs against stronger opposition, then swap one out for Herrera/Kovacic and have them as RP or AP against weaker oppo. Good to have that kind of flexibility imo :)

I base a lot of my formations on two DLPs, in a midfield three with one player given a more attacking role it works a treat. I rarely give them identical settings, but the only difference is that one is set to defend and one to support. My current formation is a 4-4-2 diamond with two RP in midfield and two CF up front, the sub-roles give it enough variety to win consistently ;)

Cheers man. I won't be varying it though to be honest. 1 DLP and 1 RP is what I had originally and whilst I was scoring by the bucket load I also had it in me to concede 5 away at Newcastle and 4 away at Burnley etc.

Will definitely give the 2 DLP a go though. Anything so I can keep my trio of 3 forwards...

Lol fair enough, definitely not good enough in that case :p

Haha know how you feel, I'm always tempted to switch to a one-striker formation, but just can't bring myself to do it

Bayern are on to their 3rd manager of the season, and two of them are Villas Boas.

Pep got sacked, as Bayern are currently 5th and doing a bit crap. Villas Boas got the job, got sacked after 2 months, and rehired again on the same day.

Fair enough. Your problem I'd imagine is you have no one purely sitting and protecting your back 3. The DLP(D) on the CM slot still doesn't protect behind enough, IMO.

I'd try a pairing of DLP(s) and CM(d). The DLP will help defensively a touch more than the RP, and still support the attack, and the CM(d) will screen the defence better and help the DLP dictate tempo.

I'm surprised you're finding no difference with the wingbacks and defensive wingers though, the DW's should press high and the wingbacks should quickly track back to defend when off the ball.

I guess when you're looking for a manager, you can't let a chance like AVB slip, even if you did just sack him.....

I've seen Man Utd do similar to this with Rooney, let his contract run down, then once he's a free agent, instantly sign him back on a much cheaper deal.

Actually I did that with the legend that is TC23. He was demanding something stupid like 100k a week, so I decided he could feck off. That meant I needed a new backup CM, though I didn't want someone really good since I had a couple of youngsters I expected to step up a season or so later. Simple solution was to sign him back on about 15k a week the day after he left the club

 Brilliant.

I play this Man Utd-save right now, and my sole purpose of the save is to make Anderson into the player we all hope he could be! Put him on a heavy training regime to increase his stamina, and he hated every second of it

Edit; Feck, just noticed that I put Fergie as responsible for bringing in first team players.. He just signed up Harry Kane for about 80% of my budget, and now I currently got these strikers in the team;

Rooney
RvP
Falcao
Dybala
Barbosa
Wilson
Kane

I might have a rotation problem ....

I see they've not stopped the problems with players wages at AI sides. Rulli became a free agent and for some reason only me and Notts Forest were interested (despite him being the 2nd/3rd best GK in the game. He wants silly money from me, £140k p/w, £8m signing on fee, £26k appearance fee, £15k clean sheet bonus etc and doesn't want to negotiate for anything less. I can't afford that so I reluctantly withdraw.

He then signs for Forest on... A plain £50k p/w, nearly 25% of what he wanted off of me  why? Irritating as anything.

Won the lot with Madrid, just hammered PSG in the CL final!.

Here are the results for the competition finals....

UEFA Super Cup - Won 3-0 Vs. Sevilla
SuperCopa Final - Won 7-4 Vs. Atletico (over 2 legs)
FIFA World Club Cup - Won 3-1 Vs. Cruz Azul
Copa Del Rey - Won 3-2 Vs. Atletico
Champions League Final - Won 1-5 Vs. PSG

Most competitions were pretty straight forward in all honesty. Won the league ahead of Barcelona, both on 99 points but me with a much superior goal difference over them. Scored 152 whilst conceding just 32.

Ronaldo was the obvious outstanding performer but they were several other strong shows such as Rodriguez, Bale, Isco, Coentrao etc. Posted the game stats and goal/assists of the squad below:

Transfer wise I have so far sold no-one an loaned out some dross, a few will leave permanently before the next season. Signed Odegaard and Barbosa at the start of the season, followed by Bartra from Barcelona after suffering a lot of defensive injuries. Also got Balanta and Bakkali arriving, but the most exciting arrival is snapping up Atletico's Oliver for a bargain £12.75 million.

Just won the Capital One Cup semi final with a routine 11-8 aggregate win over Newcastle.

Players are complaining that I've sold Blackett and Henriquez even though I've brought in Hummels and Falcao.

Shaw-----Miranda-----Hummels-----Rafael
------------------De Gea

Valdes

Balanta
Blind

Isn't exactly a week team, is it?

It's for exactly this reason why I'm playing this version on classic.

Decent, but very underrated. Blind too.

Yeh I think both Hererra and Blind are rated 3 stars by my assistant (Danny Blind :))

So neither are World beaters but both decent. Blind is a solid 7/10 performer for me as a DLP.

United have just loaned out Juan Mata. To OGC Nice. :wenger:

Van Gaal seems to have them playing a 4-4-2 diamond, with Di Maria as the defensive midfielder

Rooney and RVP never get a game. He's got Falcao and Alcacer up top, Januzaj in the hole. Kovacic and Pogba infront of Di Maria.

Louis does what he wants. Just like in real life.

As I only got this 2 days ago I'm having my customary first go with United. Falcao is awesome but I don't really wanna spunk 45mil on him. What are my chances of letting him return to Monaco and then start negotiations from scratch? Anyone had any sucess with that?
I was in the same boat, didn't want to spend that much on him so I decided to try get him on loan for another season and Monaco actually accepted. I actually got him on loan for a 3rd season too but he broke his leg 2 games in so I had to terminate it.
