Gaming Football Manager 2015

Finally starting on United in my game after getting bored of Southampton after 2 seasons of non-existent support from the board. Anyone have any tips on how to set up the team? I always go 4-2-3-1 but I'm tempted to try something different this time round like a diamond. Not sure how I'd fit everyone into it though.

Is this a massive upgrade on 14 or not? Can't really be bothered with it if it's just a transfer update with a couple of tweaks here and there.

So after 23 games I'm sitting top of the table with 7 points ahead of Chelsea but they are on 24 games already.

Since I had no transfer window at the start I used the january transfer window to bring in some talents.

In:
Brandt
Odegaard
Tielemans
Zivkovic
Neves
Gaudino
Scuffet

All will be home-grown by 2017 and are all at least 4 star talents.

I also know I'm going to miss RvP when he leaves after next season. He is an absolute monster right now leading the scoring charts with 33 goals after 23 PL games right now and wasn't even a day injured this season. Quite the opposite from FM14 where I never got him to play good football and he was always injured.

Oh and Chelsea want all my players for some reason. They are interested in Valencia, RvP, Carrick and Smalling. While I set myself the rules that I have to let non-home grown players go if a good offer comes in I'm reluctant to sell to a rival for the league title as I'm afraid that this will come back to bite me in the ass considering that former players of mine always seem to score against my teams in FM.

Playing a West Brom save. All I've signed has been Gaston Gil Romero and Jesus Vallejo. I don't fully understand my Premiership results. I get good results against the good teams, and struggle against the teams around me. Need to fix that.

Brown Ideye is a complete waste of space. At the start of the season he tore a calf muscle, came back for a few games then broke his foot. His two goals in five league starts isn't bad, but it doesn't help when he isn't there. Berahino is doing alright with 9 in 18 starts, but other than him I've only got Samaras, who's very realistically complete shit.

I have no transfer budget in January, and nobody seems to want to buy the players that I'm offering out. I mean, I can actually see the "WNT" thing next to their name which means they are wanted, but when I offer them there's nothing. I wonder if I should try offering them as trade to the teams that do want them, assuming they have players I might want?

The highlight of the season is us being in the semi-finals of the League Cup. 3-0 vs. Port Vale, 3-0 vs. Birmingham, 1-0 vs. Villa, and 2-1 vs. Leicester to get us there. After a 1-1 draw at home to Watford, we need to win the second leg (it usually helps) to get to the final and play Swansea (who just beat Chelsea).

Edit: I started this post so I could share my formation, and what do I go and forget?

Foster (GK-D)
Gamboa (FB-Au) Dawson (CD - D) Lescott (CD - D) Pocognoli (FB - Au)
Yacob (A-D) Mulumbu (BWM - S)
Gil Romero (RPM - S)
Blanco (W - A) Brunt (APM-S)
Berahino (AF - A)

8 CCCs against Burnley against their 1 and I lose 4-3. They had 4 shots on goal and 1 CCC.

I used def. set pieces as match prep as advised and concede 3 goals from set pieces the fourth was an own goal by Jones.

Also Wilson and Carrick are injured now as well. I'm running out of strikers.

Yeah... no fecking clue.

I surely can't keep this up.

Just been offered the Holland, Spanish and English jobs.

Took the Spanish job.

Bayern have just taken Welbeck off me for 42.5million so in the market for a replacement. I currently have Barbosa and Jovic as my strikers, need a ready made replacement as Jovic is still a year or 2 off his development. Signed Gotze to replace Cazorla, I wanted Januzaj but United wanted over 100million for him.

Think I'll do one more year as Arsenal manager and see what's available, I've won everything with the Arse.

In my last 3 games I've had a total of 50 shots compared to 10 against me...naturally I've lost all 3 and not scored 1 goal.:wenger:

I must've clicked something different at the start of my new Ajax save as 18 year old Scholes and Beckham have just rocked up in Uniteds first team.

You can go with everything, just make sure you set the instruction and roles balanced out

I always go for 442, because you get to employ 2 of every position (and after 2-3 season, the fun starts : aka developing youth), 442 gives me the most balance player type so it maximise the area which i find most entertaining.

Going 4231 means you have 1 striker slot, and you might miss out the fun of finding and blooding 4 strikers (assuming you have backup for each position)

I go 442 flat, 2 fb, 1stoper cb, 1 cover cb, 1 Advance playmaker, 1 BBM, 2 wide midfielder on attack, a poacher and a complete forward. Instruction set on retain posession and shorter passing, close down, higher tempo and i don't change formation , simply changing the instruction according to situations

My starting wingback just broke his foot, before I take on some of the best teams in the league.

I managed to find a free agent who should, in fact be better than him, French though, so hurts the work towards more English players.

Have you downloaded historic player profiles from Steam Workshop? You can get pretty much all the old legends there.

I just realised, I have the next Jack Wilshere in my reserves.

Young English CM/AM who's technically gifted, rubbish in the air, and pinched from Luton Town.

Hopefully he isn't also made of glass and styrofoam.

Fascinating. I've never ever played a 4-4-2 on FM. Might try it with the wide midfielders :) How do they work out the WMs? Do they tuck into the centre to support play or act like wingers?

Depends on player instructions, it's a very customizable role. You cam make them pretty much deeper Inside Forwards, if you fancy.

3 games, and this lad cracks his ribs. 7 weeks, feck.

EDIT: Leading the league, 2 points over West Ham, with them up next.

It's basically right/left winger, just under a different name. Most wingers tends to be accomplished in WM role. It's the striker / AM RL combo that's not a winger.

Make sure you set the defending set piece to have one of your CB staying back.

After 2-3 season you'd practically be relying mostly on wonderkids all the way, all of my game I never bought anyone over 19 anymore, I go fishing everytime the regen spawns (there's atime in feb or jan where you get youth influx, it's pretty much where regen kicks in), make sure your scouting is well covered and you'll be finding five star wonderkids every year. You can safe before the regen day but that'll be cheating.

Januzaj, Patrick Roberts, Gerson, Di Maria are your best bet on a new save.

You can also train out new role (which is pretty easy, took about three quarter of a season for them to become competent in the new role)

They never set anything alight after they leave United. And is most of my games the powerhouse will become a wreckage in 3-4 season. City never go better than 4th all the time. I guess the FM developer is a United fans :P

In my save Liverpool is damn strong, they won the league (urgh....) luckily the computer never sustain anything beyond 2 years, and they'll collapse all the time like clockwork

PSG decided to bid £0.5m under Romero's release clause, so I stalled their offer until I got him to sign a new contract with a £46m release. Hah!

Just out of curiosity, do you play Adnan at WM too? I'd reckon he'd be better as IF further front.

I usually counter with 200m, and they feck off..., though that close to release it would have been a danger that they activate it.
I did that originally but then they came back with the extra £0.5m to have the last laugh. Luckily, I suppose, my game crashed (which I've been having a lot of problems with recently if you know how to fix it) and so I learned from my mistakes and just stalled the offer.

Well and truly baffled. Baffled.

9 minutes in, my last remaining first team RWB, on loan from Burnley, bombs upfield, and cracks one right in the top corner. 10 minutes later my star striker gets a second yellow, for diving. Defence mode, at about 75 minutes, my other starting striker is injured, so I swap him with a CM. Scrape the win.

5 points clear, 9 clear of the playoffs, after 22 games. Predicted to finish 23rd, with most of the squad that were predicted to finish 24th in League One last year.

This legitimately shouldn't be possible.

I really hate how exaggerated the ME can be. I'm in lower leagues and watching my own teams play is so painful to watch in build up, how quick the opposition are to get the ball back, play to a shape, and then counter with precision and incision. I mean teams who are no better in quality on the attack play instant football. Bang! Tackle. Bang! Pass Bang! Cross Bang! Header Bang! Goal.

It's always those stupid highlights which start halfway through an attack which ends up in a goal for them. Infuriates me.

At the very start of the third season. Wilson is out on loan, Götze got injured during pre-season and Isco, Vietto, Romero, di Maria, Gil Romero and Barbosa are playing the Olympics, which means that they're unavailable until the third PL game. They also come back "jaded and in need of rest".

In the Community Shield game against Chelsea Rooney and Shaw manage to get injured, leaving me with Angelo Henriquez as the only striker in the squad, apart from the U18 players. Then Januzaj gets injured in the first league game (against Liverpool) and Depay picks up an injury in training. I start the second league game against QPR with Henriquez as a striker and Rashford as an AM, due to the complete lack of options upfront.

Ended up panic buying Berardi (after unsettling Agüero to the point where he has abysmal morale :D ) but haven't accepted the deal yet, as some players are returning from injury. The question then becomes: Is Berardi worth the £35 million pound fee I have to splash to get him? Sold a 32-year-old RvP and lost a sulky Chicharito on a free transfer before the season after they got 40 goals each last season, so my only proper strikers now are Vietto and Rooney, but I have Wilson, Zivkovic and Barbosa out on loan.

Worth noting that I'm not entirely sure whether Wilson or Barbosa will ever be good enough, while Rooney hasn't really lit it up when he's started up top. Zivkovic is looking great, though, but he's stuck on loan until the end of the season as part of the transfer deal.

I'd go for Berardi, but he was a favourite of mine on 14.

Worst comes to worst, you can sell someone later, or use Berardi on the wing, he can be an absolute top class wideman too.

Celtic save going fairly well, although nothing unspectacular as of yet. Finished 4th in my CL group...Sporting were group leaders, Man City in second, Madrid in 3rd (mind boggling, I know).

Domestically it's been a usual SPL kind of season, 23 games played, 60 points, 14 clear of 2nd place Inverness.

Hoping to get some talented youth products in when the regens pop up..in the mean time, I poached some young players to hold me over, while getting rid of other non Scottish players.

Moved on Van Dijk to Inter, and am bringing in John Souttar from Dundee. 19 y/o Scottish defender, highly rated for my team.

the others are foreign youths that I hope to build up and sell on for a big profit once I get the Scottish youth to come through. Pavel Savitskiy, with 6 goals in 5 games, and a hat trick on his debut. Yann-Arik De Lanley, who has been a bit crap so far..will try and move him on in the summer probably. Kirstoffer Ajer who was on loan back at his old club, will give him a couple of seasons and hopefully move him to one of the Big European Clubs.

And lastly, David Trezeguet came in for one final swansong with Celtic. Using him sparingly since he's 37, but he's bagged 3 goals in 5 appearances. Useful since Leigh Griffights is being a bit of a cnut and not showing up for training.

Not a bad idea, short term money factory, to help build the team up with the Scottish core.

Starting to notice all the lads that rejected me at the start of the season are now showing up interested in my scout lists, now that I'm well on my way to PL football. Ya'll can go feck yourselves. Big teams are starting to eyeball Toney.... eep.

Just depends if I take the first offer that comes, or wait for a while to see if they grow more. Ideally, once I get a good enough youngster, I want to blood them and get rid of the non-scottish players ASAP...although the way they've been playing so far...that's gonna be hard

You shouldn't sign them now..the bastards. Or sign them and throw them in the reserves.

I'd be quite happy to leave the youngster on the bench, blood them by giving them the last 15-20 minutes of every match, and they'll grow lovely.

Nah, I'll find better players next season. Plus I have a lot of talent sitting in the reserves, just needing to grow.

Just been offered the Holland, Spanish and English jobs.

Took the Spanish job.

That prick declined a move to me and I was just after winning the premier league !

January deadline day, Josh Murphy is listed by request, 14m though, would be an incredible stretch for me.

Would fit my tactics as a second striker though, and be a key English signing.
