feck this game haha finally am able to play after a week of crash dumps problems. Play for 2 nights and now it black screens at the main menu lol. I seen that a fix for it is change from CPU rendering to software or something like that. But I can't even get to that cause of the black screen haha. Money well spent so far.

are you using a skin? the previous update had some problems with skins, but the hotfix update available to download from steam now should fix it if that's the problem. If not, you should probably ask for help at the SI forums.

@Diver As Santos said, what you really need in these lower leagues is a solid defence and fast striker, and then I tend to have my midfielders with better physical stats than technical and play a high intensity pressing game (although you may need a bigger squad as they don't have the stamina to do this every game).

I tend to look at the top teams U21's for loanees:

Will Keane ST - United
Gedion Zelalem CM - Arsenal
Andreas Christensen/Kenneth Omeruo both CB- Chelsea
Tyias Browning CB , George Green CM/CAM - Everton
Adam Campbell ST - Newcastle
Daniel Johnson CM - Aston Villa

It might be worth looking at Ajax B too. I think they have a good RB available to loan, and you might be able to get Richairo Zivchovic too who is lethal in front of goal.

Thanks for the hints. I went in for all of these people and only landed George Green on loan.

I had my first league game against Walsall (I was at Home) and I got truly spanked 3-0. I publically lambasted the players, didn't go down too well in all honesty, I can see a Aston Villa/Roy Keane situation bubbling if i'm not careful. Then I had a game in the league cup and just narrowly beat Tranmere Rovers who are a league below me, 0-0 draw - pen shoot out. Things don't look good at the mo.

I think that I have my work truly cut out for me. I found one of those strikers who looks bloody good (to me) Christian Knappmann - His finishing is 16 and his other stats are good for my level. He scored two goals in his debut which was a pre-season friendly against Cardiff (still lost 4-2), but my coaches/scouts really do not rate him. I don't get why this is. I'm going to try and stick with him as i spent £9k out of my £22k budget on him, I have found in the past this happens with FM a player who won't be rated by coaches/scouts but have good stats and perform to a decent standard.

I think my main issue was perhaps trying to play a more positive thinking 4-4-2 and not trying to hold the ball up more in midfield/play unattractive, hoof the ball, Bolton football which my team are probably better suited to. I feel that I have done well in the transfer market with attacking players, but my defense is pretty shocking.

For me, this is the most enjoyable part of FM, "the struggle". I have to try to be vigilant and not resort to cheating, especially if I have an influx of bad results (which I am anticipating with the dross I have at my disposal). My goal is a midtable finish, which hopefully if I grind out results and recruit a few more defenders can be acheived.

After reading this thread I decided to get this game. Started off with Swansea but got humiliated in the first few games so gave up. Don't know a lot about FM so found that save a bit too difficult.

Started a new one with Marseille instead and it's going great so far. Just beat PSG away with 4-3, crazy game. Have bought Balanta, hes been alright but he was shit against PSG so had to sub him off. Ayew and N'kolou wanted to leave for continental football in the beginning, I told them that they would be allowed to if I don't qualify for that this season and I'm top of the league after 12 games so I should pull of CL qualification at least. Ayew's contract is expiring this summer though and he doesn't want to sign a new one at the moment. Can this change if I keep doing well in the league or am I screwed?

Also are there any good young kind of cheap strikers around? Gignac isn't that good really and I think that is my weakest position. I don't have a lot of money though so can't afford Barbosa at the moment.

If you're still in the window, I got these for Bradford in league one.

Probably skip Burgui, looks decent(fine for league one at least) but won't develop much, bad personality.

I'd give Batshuayi the majority of your striker time, and Big Mac as a backup, Bat might grow quickly and become an excellent forward.

The .png pic won't load on my computer at work (which is where I am, on the caf - on the sly). But sure it'll be fine on my laptop at my flat.

Thanks :D I think I definitely need to stengthen my defense. Can anyone recommend any rock solid defenders for League 1?

Ok, the list is,
Bengamin Siegrist on loan(no wage cost) from Villa(free agent end of season), good keeper for the level, with potential to be a good Championship keeper, or Prem backup. EDIT: Might even grow to be good enough for the Prem for a promoted team to begin with, but I won promotion season one, and hit Fredrik Ronnow's release clause the moment I got my budget, as he's a bit of a coup for the Championship.
Valentin Gjokaj free agent, decent enough young CB, will never be great but handy.
Curtis Obeng on loan(no wage cost) from Swansea, decent enough fullback, does well in league one because of his pace.
Júnior on loan(can't remember wage situation), from Everton, very good CM/DM for the level.
Ebrima Bojang free agent(may start and be released from ASSE, not sure), good targetman. With growth will do a job right up to the Premier League.
Samuel Asamoah free agent, good AM, with stacks and stacks of potential, might struggle for a work permit, and need tutoring for personality.
Simone Bottino on loan(no wage cost), from Sampdoria. Decent backup fullback.
Burgui transfer(150k p/ex) from Castilla. At this level a fine AM or even striker, has some potential, but very unlikely to reach it. The p/ex was a loan of Asamoah, since he failed a work permit for me.

Thanks for the list. Who would you say was your best purchase at League 1 level?

Siegrist, but Bradford are shocking goalkeeper-wise. Other than that, Bojang, he wasn't spectacular, but solid in League One, the Championship, and even the Premiership as a rotation/backup option, I wouldn't pick him up expecting a key player though!

Conceded 5 goals in 17 games, 2nd season as Ajax.. Finally got out of my group in CL as well, coming 2nd behind Bayern!

Finally began, with Crewe, likely about to be a disaster... I did manage to roll up a relatively great Chief Scout, though I shouldn't be making a great deal of transfers.

Out of contract-players above my paygrade is going to kill me and my club.. Blowing my wage-structur on likes of Jonny Evans, Javier Hernandez and Gigi Buffon () with my Ajax-side..

Thank God, Buffon decided to reject my offer. He would've earned more or less twice as much as my current best player! Evans and Hernandez just signed on though, going to be like cheating with Evans and Balanta as CBs in the Eresdivise :D

Nice. Can't keep a clean sheet at all. Fecking indirect free kicks are still killing me. It's always the same. Everyone lines up in a line. Me defenders stand around and watch the smallest opponent player break out of the line and score a free header. No idea how to stop this.

Currently in 2018/19 with Linfield. Probably will be my last season with the club. Took over halfway through of the first season in game with the club near the bottom, took them to 4th and never looked back. Following season lost the league by 2 points, the next bottled it and finished 3rd. Finally won the title last season to add to 3 domestic cup wins. Just the Setanta Cup left to conquer.

Got offers from Blackpool, Morcambe and Port Vale recently, as well as being linked with the Bolton and Shrewsbury jobs. Shows how lowly rated the NI league is when I'm dominating but my reputation can only attract League 2 clubs, or at highest relegation threatened League 1 sides.

We'll see what happens at the end of the season. I won't renew at Linfield and access what happens and will probably wait for mid season to find a new job. I want this to be a journeyman type save but also a proper career so no jumping ship for the sake of it.

Again I sold Jesse Lindgard, and Rooney confront me, no matter what answer I gave he's not happy. The harmony in the club plummet, the board summon me .....

I decided feck it, sold him to Chelsea for 20M, and surprisingly every on good morale, and a win after everyone was on superb....

Hmm, young lad I signed from League 2, finally gets his first goal, mid September.

Can't see it clearly in the vid, but he picks the ball over the top out of the air on the volley, reminded me a lot of the Van Persie goal in the title decider at Villa, obviously from a much closer range.

I dont know if this will help at all, but I stopped conceding corners after tweaking the set piece-instructions after reading up on it.

I just tried these, first thing that happened was me loosing a game off a header at a corner. Of course, my team are shite.
 I concede once in a while on set pieces, though it stopped me conceding twice a game / every single game. After I started taking short corners and freekicks, i've started to score a fair few of them as well!

Anyone managed to sign Hummels for United? If so how much has he gone for?

My Ajax-team is getting some good rep after my 2nd season, despite never getting past the last 16 in the CL. The likes of Sturridge, Stones, Barkley, Wilshere and Jovetic wants to join me, though I cant afford them :( Slowly making my Ajax-team into a midtable Premier League team with my signings

I'm interested in this too. Same goes for Pogba. He's apparently unhappy at Juve, but that hasn't made Juve any less reluctant to sell. I can't get the price below £100 million, and that's just not happening.

Götze was unsettled at Bayern and I managed to pick him up for £25 million, so I'm hoping for something similar with Pogba, because his attributes are just outrageous.

End of season summary in the league;

Goals scored: 106, goals conceded: 16

Pretty sure that's a personal record

12 straight wins with Marseille in Ligue 1, a new record for the league. That's with ANC under way so I've lost my two best players, and also Payet due to injury. Oh and @Earthquake, Bat is doing great now, thanks for the tip.

Caved and accepted Barcelona when they offered me a job.. I decleared myself as the Special One in my first interview, so I'm setting myself up to fail :D
