I'm still playing my FM14 save but starting to consider moving to FM15. But first I'd like to know if some of the more annoying issues in the ME have been fixed. Wide players opting to shoot from acute angles while a cross/pass is on is probably the worst offender. But there are others, like consistently underweighted through passes and overly frequent poor first touches from players with world class attributes in those areas. Staggeringly poor long shots is another one.

So would you guys say there was a clear improvement in ME from 14 to 15 or are these issues still present? If they're still there I'd rather skip 15 altogether and wait for 16.

So it's the last day of the league season. The title is already wrapped up with United, and our last game is away to 18th place Bournemouth (who I would like to see stay up). I notice that if they beat us, they go level on points with WBA and could stay up as a result - problem is, they have -43 GD to WBA's -24.

So I did the obvious thing and lined up like this:

We lost (surprisingly).

And as a result, Bournemouth stayed up with a -5 goal difference :)

Funnily enough, the fans confidence for the match was still 50% :wenger:
Wait, if Bournemouth had a -43 goal difference and beat you 43-0 in the final game of the season then how did they end up with a -5 GD?

Well it was 48 I guess! My math skills shining though.

Haven't noticed the second or third so can't comment (not saying it's been rectified) but I'd say the first problem is still the case. Tear your hair out sort of stuff.

The only thing that pisses me off about 15 is the number of free kicks that they inexplicably kick absolutely nowhere near the goal when trying to shoot.

Found something else to do, as that Man Utd save went ridiculous, won every game in every comp of my 2nd season.

So I found an old save game, where I had an offer on the table in Dec. 2016 from a relegation battling Lazio. I chucked some players, stretched the hell out of my funds, and brought in 72m worth of players. Admittedly most went in two large deadline day deals, after Real Madrid came in for Candreva and re-upped my coffers.

Cristian Tello for 4m, Nicola Murru for 170k, Chris Smalling on loan(from Arsenal), Jeronimo Rulli for 14.5m, José Mária Giménez for 30m, and Grzegorz Krychowiak for 17.25m were the main deals, but I took 5 prospects from my old club(Stabaek), for a grand total of 5.8m, maybe they won't be Serie A level, but most should be good.

What was odd, was they asked me to make mid table, and a few weeks later when I went to check the competition screen, it had changed to reach an Europa spot. This is what made me splurge rather than play it safe.

Starting 11 looks like this now, in Feb 2017.

Klose
Keita------------------------Tello
Sosa--------Parolo
Krychowiak
Ghoulam---Giménez---Smalling---Henrique
Rulli

Next summer will be fun, with limited funds due to my splurging, Klose retiring(real shame, still good), Sosa and Parolo quite old(still fine if they don't decline quickly), and no proper right back.

I do have Ravel Morrison, which leaves me with options. Keita can be trained as striker(he scored 4 up front for me already in one game), and have Ravel take his wing spot. If I get a striker, Ravel can take Sosa's spot.

An impressive late run in the league(10w, 2d 1l) left us 5th, just making our goals of reaching the Europa League(I thought 6th was a spot too, but it wasn't...). Knocked out in the CL first knockout round by Man City, who went on to loose in the final to Bayern. We took the TIM Cup, though, so as unlikely as it seemed when I joined in Dec, we have some silverware.

Rulli has been a massive disappointment so far.

Given 25m to spend in the summer, along with 60%(later 75%) of sales.

Loosing Klose to retirement was the main issue, and the lack of a proper right back. Sadly I couldn't find an established striker who was both willing and affordable. I ended up taking a flyer on a prospect from Sevilla called Carlos Fernández, has a ways to go, but could be great. A natural target man, but has a bit of everything about him.

Lucas Moura was transfer listed, and on the cheap from PSG, that should be my right wing set for 5-7 years.

Right back was covered by a transfer listed Iván at Barca, and a potential worldie from Sao Paulo.

One of my starting CB's was on loan, so I scraped together what I could, and somehow landed Phil Jones for 14m.

A transfer listed Kondogbia rounds out my squad.

That was pretty much my summer, and I was happy as the board had reasonable expectations. Then PSG came in for star man, Balde Keita, which left me in the position to get much better. In comes Jorginho for massive money, Cristante cheap, Guido Vadalá for a steal, Youri Tielemans and Ángel Correa on loan, both with buying options(12m and 5.5m, respectively).

On deadline day, in come Hoffenheim with 17.5m for star wingback Faouzi Ghoulam, so I pick up Emerson from Santos, a legit steal.

So the squad is stronger in depth, most positions should be set for years, if Fernández develops, though Tello will need replacing when possible. Should be slow going, though, squad isn't strong enough to challenge the league yet.

Starting 11

Fernández
Tello-----------------------Moura
Jorginho----Vadalá
Krychowiak
Emerson---Giménez---Jones---Iván
Rulli

2016 been announced? Usually out October/November but i can't see any announcements.

Fernández
Tello-----------------------Moura
Jorginho----Vadalá
Krychowiak
Emerson---Giménez---Jones---Iván
Rulli

Nice work so far! Jones always turns out to be an absolute monster for me. It's always a great feeling to turn around a struggling squad - I once did it wilth Malaga, who had happened to recruit a 35 year old Santi Cazorla :D

Yup! Jones is immense, and with his natural fitness(perhaps unrealistic here?) should be well into his 30's.

Yeah  and only 12 injury proneness on top of that!

Got high hopes in my United save for this 17 y/o from the youth academy. Got him through in my first season and he got 3 goals and 6 assists in his 5 games that season! A couple improvements here and there (decisions) and he looks like a potential world beater. Also has an awesome name.

Jesus, that lad looks a gem!

In my 6th season with Nottingham atm. Biggest club in the world. 4 PL titles, 3 consecutive CL titles, 4 FA cups, 1 LC, 2 CWC & all Charity Shields/Euro Super Cups. Best all time team so far (without regens):

------------------ R. Zivkovic --------------------
L. Acosta ------------------------------ Munir ---
--------- L. Romero -------- Tielemans ---------
Alex Sandro ----- Kranevitter --------- Danilo --
------------ Umtiti ---------- Gimenez ----------
---------------------- Rulli -----------------------

Think i'll give it 7 seasons then i'd like to restore AC Milan in to a super force.

Front running in the league, in Dec, AC Milan come along and Wanyama crushed my strikers leg.

Cnut.

EDIT: Also, right back Iván, broken leg. FFS.

With a narrow lead in the league in January, some clubs came in for Christian Tello, off he went for 23m, and replaced with Iker Munain, transfer listed at PSG for 6m, steal.

To cover for Iván, I picked up Manquillo on loan, he's not bad, but not special, tbh, probably better than Iván.

On deadline day, I picked up Leo Baptistao, for 12m, next season I'll have too many strikers, but as it is, I was running with an 18 year old and a 17 year old. Mostly relying on Lucas Moura scoring braces from the wing to scrape by. Leo came on as a sub later on deadline day and picked up a brace himself. Good signs!

I've been playing a game in South Africa and have got my Tuks team to the Champions League final.

The game, in all its wisdom has decided that the Champions League final, a two legged home/away affair, is the best time to have an international break. As a result, I'm missing my goalkeeper, centre-back and captain, and attacking midfielder for the crucial away game against our rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

We won the game, but it feels a hollow because Kaizer Chiefs lost both their goalkeepers and their best striker as well.

My 4th season of Wolfsburg. Banned from Europe this season, I decided to sell off some good players, got ride of Bale my highest earner and had a net spend of -£50m.

Despite this, I still looks set to fail FFP again.

In the league I'm miles off Bayern in 2nd but in the semis of the German Cup against a third division side.

Now looking to sell the likes of Darmian, Illarramendi, Icardi and my captain Musacchio for the summer so I can meet FFP. If I fail FFP again, I'm resigning. My squad is already fecking depleted.

I remember when on FM when I was in a lower league, if a certain no. of players were unavailable, you could postpone the game. That was for the league mind, but you've been fecked.

FFP in Germany does seem to be much stricter than any other league. I joined Stuttgart, spent within my means (or in my opinion I did, I wasn't in debt to the extent that I'd be relying on prize money to break even) and failed it. I couldn't be bothered to stick it out though, so I just left.

It's not been giving me the option, I have been looking for it.

I don't really know what the games doing. The ACON doesn't actually start until 21st January, and we have our usual one month break scheduled, but for some reason all the players have been with their international sides since the 1st.

I originally thought the problem was that I was quite a few games behind other teams (you play two cup competitions and the final stages of the Champions League before christmas which I won all of and then went the club World Cup) but every team is playing. It's most frustrating because I've got by far the most internationals in the league.

Struggled to two wins and got thrashed in the other two in that period. Still reasonably well placed but more because the other teams have been shite too.

Do I lose my job if I go on an interview for another?
No and sometimes you can strengthen your position by being offered the new job and declining, and you can ask for new facilities/feeder club etc if you are to stay. Although by declining sometimes you get a message that says something like "the board are extremely pleased that you chose not to consider leaving" but AFAIK that doesn't actually increase your job security.

One thing to note is that if you agree a contract with a new club you have to take it though which is annoying. But yeah remember if you get to contract negotiations and you don't want to leave, don't risk it and don't enter the negotiations.

I spent excessively, no doubt about it in two seasons but I only did so because the board gave me a truck load of money which I duly spent (they gave me absolutely nothing in my first season). Even though it was within my transfer and wage budget, signing Bale fecked me up financially, even if he did help me to a league title and CL semi's.

I'm in my third season with United with a transfer budget of £260m, and wage budget of £1.1m, come January. I've just had a bid of £60m accepted for a 29 y/o Messi. Does this not seem a bit ridiculous to anyone else? :/

I signed Messi for my league one Wrexham side at 34 in fm12. He'd broken his leg at 28 and then again at 30 so his physical stats were fecked and no one seemed to want him. Got him on a free too.

In my save in 2020, it seems that Hibernian have a sugar daddy, and have turned into the QPR of Scotland, acting as a graveyard for big names way, way past their best on stupid contracts. They've currently got Ronaldo (35), Iniesta (36), Schweinsteiger (36) Pato (only 29, but is pretty shite!) and have just signed Darren Fletcher on a free.

They've just sacked Dougie Freedman as manager. Vacant. Strangely tempting. I could certainly carry on the tradition of signing washed up big names and throw money at them to potter about at sub-zero temperatures in the SPL. Sounds like a good gig. I'm at the point where nearly every club has ridiculous regens. Regens are boring.

Think I'll put in an application.

Took the Hibs job, with the full intention of continuing the new Hibernian Washed-Up Galactico regime.

This is the squad. It might look impressive, but in 2020, the majority of the names you'll know are utter shit.

I count two reasonable footballers in that lot. Gauld and McCarthy. Mclusky seems to be a fairly handy regen, though doesn't really excel at anything, but you need a Tom Cleverley in your team, right?

Schweinsteiger and Lahm both have pace and acceleration of 7, as does Darren Fletcher. Fletch also has a 2 for dribbling and a 5 for strength. A fair gust of wind could knock the three of them over.

Cristiano Ronaldo is still fairly mobile in comparison. About as mobile as a 30 year old Michael Owen. An enormous 11 for pace and 10 for acceleration, which will probably make him the fastest player in the SPL. His finishing, strength, heading and dribbling have all plummeted though. Y'know, everything that made him good.

Victor Valdes has already announced he is retiring next summer. He is soon to be 39, and my assistant manager (Roy Keane!) keeps telling me he is no longer good enough to play for the club. Mouth shut, Roy. Victor's the #1

Aguero, only 33, has been obliterated by injury, and he gets injured as soon as he is fit again. In the last 3 seasons, he has played 11 games of football. 11! City released him on a free. He was then one of the first in through the door under the new Hibernian regime.

Iniesta came from Palermo for £400k, who got him for nothing from Barca the year before. A good earner for them. He is decrepit, but he can still pick a pass that splits through a 10 man parked bus, so long as he doesn't have to run for the ball.

They also Pato from Burnley (who are in League 1) for £600k. Only 29 somehow, but he's probably been destroyed by all that cocaine from his Milan days. Utterly useless footballer, but he fits the philosophy down to the ground.

And Sergio Ramos for nothing. Similar to Aguero, his knees are made of dog biscuits. Forever injured. Not really good at anything, and an absolute cnut. Born to play for Hibs.

I took the job late, so I missed pre-season. First game of the SPL, away to St Mirren.

3-0 defeat, Ramos and Valdes both sent off in the first half an hour

It would be if they weren't mid-30 cloggers  Every backroom staff meeting, Roy Keane and co are pleading with me to bin half the squad, because they are utterly useless. They just don't get it.

I haven't really looked at the youth set up, because I don't really care about it, but it seems the Galactico regime has had a significant knock-on effect.

The feck?

Despite winning Serie A 8 years in a row, after having a team meeting before the game where I can win the league and telling them to complete what was expected of them the team have had a revolt and said that I'm wrong in saying we were expecting to win the title this season..
