Gaming Football Manager 2015

Cheers for the update, interesting stuff!

Weird about all the Brazilians, but they're like that, every year in the CL they have some new unknown Brazilian who ass fecks some team before making a move to a bigger team.

Doumbia's an odd one in real life, was at CSKA, moved to Roma last Jan, and is now on loan, at CSKA.
I'd never heard of him before, but I knew what I wanted so I searched for those attributes and he came up on the search so I did a few scout reports and signed him. He didn't score on his first 5 games either and I thought I'd made a mistake, but then he scored a hat trick in his next game and hasn't stopped scoring since. 15 in 15 is a great record.

Are transfer updates backwards compatible? ie. will the updates to FM15 work on FM14 if I move the file into the FM14 SI folder?

I can't do my challenge as the names aren't generating. :(
That's shit, wonder why it's not.

Don't think so. Each version of the game uses a different version of the database, so unless you find an update for the right version then it probably won't work. Could be worth a try though I guess!

Thinking about trying a challenge to win the title in every country in the game in one save. Pkus at least one of every continental competition. I doubt i go anywhere near finishing it but im bout to start with Melbourne Victory in Australia.

A little update on my Shahktar save.

We managed to crash out of the champions league by losing just one game! it was crazy, but it was actually the 90+4 minute equaliser away to Ajax that did us.

Ajax 2-2 Shahktar
Sociadad 3-0 Shahktar
Shahktar 2-0 Arsenal.

So we finished third in the group with 9 points while Arse and soc qualified with 13 and 11 respectively.

So we dropped into the Europa league and got a difficult draw straight up, but results went our way (so far)

CSKA 1-3 Shahktar
Shahktaar 1-1 CSKA.

Shahktar 2-2 Sparta Prague
Spart Prague 1-5 Shahktar.

Shahktar 3-0 Udinese.
Udinese 3-0 Shahktar. - Shahktar win 5-3 on penalties. just as well as i nearly got well and truly Fm'd

We have Benfica at home in the first leg of the semi final and it's probable that if we progress then we will meet AC Milan in the final.

I am chasing a treble, we have the quarter final of the Ukrainian Cup coming up and we are 2 points clear at the top of the league with 4 games to play. We'be only lost once this season (1-0 to Dynamo Kiev) and have conceded just 11 goals all season. It's going to be a tense finish.

Good stuff!
I finished the season with precisely feck all!

I finished the season feeling like Avram Grant as all trophies slipped from my grasp in such irritating circumstances that I almost rage quit.

It all started with a home game against Benfica in the Europa league semi final, it turned out to be a comfortable 3-0 victory. Then the problems started. That was the Thursday night, on the Sunday we travelled away in the league, my first team were knackered but my back up players were ok and should be able to win the points. Now, there are two problems with the UPL. 1. You can play more then 7 foreigners in your domestic match day squad (this means non Ukraine nationals) 2 once you get past us and Kiev, everybody else are the same Stoke City type standard! With the injuries and suspension and borderline racist passport control I could barely field a team. This also begs the question, why when you have this 7 foreign player rule, did shahktar decide to co sign 167 fecking Brazilians who's sole purpose in the game is to eat my wage budget? Anyway a disappointing 1-1 draw.

We then played Benfica in the second leg and drew 0-0. I had to play the first team after learning a lesson from the Udinese collapse.

We then played Kiev on the cup semi final with a similar issue to the league game, I had to play a couple of players that played against Benfica and its fm so obviously the game went to extra time and then they scored with literally their only shot on goal, lost 1-0.

Then to Wednesday and another draw 1-1 with metalist, Kiev won all of their games and won the title.

To the Europa league final and to my shock we were actually playing fiorentina who knocked Milan out in the semi.

Do you remember the 2005 cup final where we battered Arsenal for 120 minutes and lost on penalties, well this was like that only we lost to their only shot in the 118th minute.

fecking gutting, so I did the only logical thing and signed Thiago Motta.

feck, what a Leverkusen-esque end to a season.

That foreigner rule is a nightmare, similar in Russia. fecking nightmare to get good national players.

In real life, I'd imagine a lot of those Brazilians are on dodgy deals to eventually take Ukraine passports.

At the end of the season we had 26 players return from loan, I released 20 and moved 17 to my second string. Then I sold 5 and bought Thiago Motta. Basically there were around 45 players that were in my squad that had zero chance of kicking a ball for me. I have never know such a pointlessly massive squad in my life.

Reminds me of Italian reserve teams, about 50-60 kids, most fecking useless, some loaned in, all the co-ownerships, why?! Mental the lot of them.

Then there was Parma.....

These co ownerships are dodgy as feck, the bloke who scored the winner in the Europa league final was co-owned by fiorentina and Udinese...how the ass does that work?

Why, what happened at Parma? (I know about their problems in real life)

It's like owning 50% of a company but someone else runs it for you... You pay money up front and you get half the profits later. There's a few other quirks like the fact that co-ownerships could only last up to 2 years and there was a blind auction at the end of it, but by and large, it's like owning 50% of a company. It sits between buying a player outright and loaning a player.

I got to be honest, I hate this. I like my players like I like my women. Tied down, devoted and fast in the box.

226 players in their squad before they went bankrupt.

Thank goodness they ditched it this season.

Bet the woman doesn't like that last bit. :D

226 players!!! I like small squads I would hate this (although I've just realised what my next challenge will be)

I'd like to play as the new Parma in FM16, and try and restore them, using that old 3-2-3-2 formation they used when they had that monster team.
My problem is that I like small compact squads. I like to have my first team and then a back up for each position and a couple of utility players, then I like to fill my reserves with the best youngsters I can find so that I have good young players ready to come through the ranks. Sides that have massive squads eating up the wage budget do my nut in.

I'll have 2 players for each position, anything other than that is prospects in the reserve squad.

Is that with wing backs or wingers? I have been trying to find a good 3 at the back formation that isn't the Juventus style one. I did strike gold on my current save when I managed england with a 5-3-2 but I want something like Louis Van gaal's Ajax team.

I like utility players too just for rotation and injury cover.
I'll just chuck a prospect in if I need an extra man. Just helps them develop. I try to pick a few of my 22 be useful in multiple areas.

Wide mids.

I like 5 at the back with pacey attacking full backs and 3 ball playing centre halves. Then 3 centre mids, the middle of which operates as a dm. I play an attacking midfielder with passing and creativity in the stats ahead of the midfield then a lone striker.

I had two normal centrebacks and a ballplayer, two wingbacks and three cms one was a DLP defend, the others were a AP Attack and BWM support, and two strikers one being a false 9.

Nice. Do you find you concede a lot? My defence is quite solid but I can get exploited in the channels on occasions.

Also is there s decent save game editor about? (For 14) the names 'euro cup' and 'champions cup' are annoying.

Not much at all really, I scored a lot. I won the european cup like 8 nil against holand and they had world class forwards. I had like the ultimate plays better for their country than club striker, although he was excellent in the world cup he wasn't as good in the euros but then switches it on in my hour of need  he has scored 50 plus goals for England and as far as I can tell on his stats, never reached 20 goals for his clubs. I turned him into such a beast internationally he was transferred to real madrid from norwich who in my save in the 2020s are a top 4 team. I am seriously wondering if I should buy him from them as my back up striker.

 Nice! I'm still pissed off about the Europa League final, i got well and truly FM'd! worse still is that we had to play in the 3rd play off round of the champions league and somehow i managed to lose 3-1 to Brugge on aggregate and dropped back into the Europa League. I think i've lost my touch a bit to be honest because i am so poor in europe, well the champions league anyway.

My team got mad at a lack of signings during the window and demanded I get some fresh talent....

We have a transfer embargo and of course there is no option to say that :mad::mad:

I have to be honest the formation was a fluke, I was using 4-2-3-1 and it was just not working. I then come face to face with spain in some weird UEFA/FIFA cup tournament which is really just a load of friendlies and a final. They played 4-4-2 for some reason and I was expecting them to dominate and I decided to put five at the back and see what happens. Beat them 3-0 I think I can't remember.

That's similar with how i caame up with mine, I was United and we started the season with city, arsenal and chelsea. I thought shit let's pack the defence and middle. 9 points later and i've been using it ever since.

I remember doing that in 14, a newly promoted to the prem team(I'd taken from the Conference North), early season away match against perennial challengers Man City.

Set up a flat 5-3-2 Defensive, maybe I'll scrape a draw, at least it won't be embarrassing. Smashed them 0-5, said "that's my tactic now" and finished 2nd in the league.

When 16 comes out can we all book a weekend off and just go mental and play an online game?

Also, Thiago Motta is the most injury prone man ever! No wonder he was so cheap!

I have barely used it for my united side. They work best as a 4-2-3-1 despite this quintuple winning formula, the coaches say it does not suit the team. Bloody does!!!

Like the assistant "we're getting overrun in midfield", "we're lucky to be leading" we're 3-0 up with 60% possession..... What the feck do you want?

Thinking about it, I've never played an online game before, no idea what it's like.
Me and my mate played one once, it runs amazingly on the steam servers and the game doesn't really feel slow or laboured. I prefer FM Classic and a 2D pitch though so hopefully that won't bother anybody.

I know that too, also despite getting those numbers possession wise, the board is barely satisfied with a possession style of football. It annoys me because they also want me to play attacking football too. Its impossible to get both in this game.
