Gaming Football Manager 2015

I've allowed my inner muppet to take over, and have a United team with Messi and Ronaldo in it. Ronaldo's 37, but still quality. I signed him for £7.5m in the 2019/20 window, mainly for a "I want to give him one last season at United" thing. He scored 60 goals in 61 games that season, 37 in 44 the next, and has 22 in 45 this. So his numbers are dropping, but they're still great for his age.

Messi is 34, and doesn't get to play that often. It's either off the bench, or when I'm playing against a weaker side and can shift to another formation that accomodates him.

Also...er...re-signed Demetri Mitchell for £30m, after spotting him tearing it up for Watford in the Premier League (they were 4th when I signed him in January). He's only got three goals in 19 games though, so it's not looking good so far. I've been playing him either on the left, or up front (as I trained him to be a striker the first time he was here).

I'm going to share some of my regens with you now, because I like regens. Not all of them will be that great, but they'll have played semi-regularly for me.

Probably the weakest of the lot. Good technical abilities for the AMC role, but the mental stats let him down a bit. The determination is encouraging, and I'm hoping that with some tutoring over the next season he'll develop into a good squad player, or at least somebody I can get a decent price for. To be fair to him, I did mess him up a bit by sending him out on two terrible loan deals that he was never going to get played in.

I spent £30m on this player as a 16 year old. Which was, looking back, very silly of me. Luckily he's developed into a very good player, with an average rating of 7.36 over 45 games this season. The previous two seasons he hadn't broken into the 7's, and I was actually planning on selling him. Strongest in the AMC position, but I actually like playing him in CM as an RPM, because he's very good at running with the ball (despite a low dribbling stat) and passing from deep, so he can either take it straight through the opposition, or play it over them.

My DOF actually made an offer for this guy, £12.5m, and I thought "hell, I'm rich, I'll go for it." He's OK. Mainly plays as back-up for whoever's missing in CM or DM. Looking at his value, I'll probably be able to make a decent profit on him if he starts getting shirty over first team chances. However, his name is Zola Tshimpi, and I don't think I can live with a team that doesn't have that name in it.

This man is so fast, his acceleration has decreased to 20. His stats aren't actually that great for the CWB role I play him in, but he's doing really well there. He's come through the academy (via Desportivo), and tore it up on two loans to Hoffenheim and Inter, so I got rid of Shaw and brought him into the first team. Seems to be paying off so far.

This is probably my favourite of the lot. His stats are superb, barring the aggression and bravery, and I've never actually seen anything in the game that suggests they make any difference at all. I've seen him tackle the opposition forward, then immediately hurl himself at their attacking midfielder to tackle him as well. Signed him for £5m as well :D

This was another of those "expensive youth" signings, £10m from Wolverhampton at the age of 16, I think it was. I do that to almost force myself to try harder to develop those players, a "OK, you've spent a lot of money on him, now bloody make sure he turns out good," thing. He's actually second choice keeper, behind Jeronimo Rulli, but I'm considering selling Rulli and having a "make or break" season with this guy.

... I get way too invested in my regens. It's a miracle I'm not wandering around with shirts with their names on.

Edit: Also, this happened.

Best thing is, that player is very rarely allowed onto the pitch, due to being my seventh best CM.

I am continuing my save with Cambridge United and at the moment I am midtable in the Championship. I am still in a shout to make the playoffs but I doubt that I´ll get promoted. Anything but relegation is fine, so I am fairly happy.
Two questions?
1) I have an insane amount of injuries. At least that is my feeling. A part is down to injury injury-prone, but I am not sure if I am making any obvious mistake. Any tips how to prevent injuries?
2) How much do you manage during games? Do you just watch "key" or "extended"?

Agree, the first half must've burned them out...

My second half of the season is looking a lot like this so far (except no defeat yet). Every game I have like 65% possession and at least 40 shots per game, sometimes go over 60 shots in a game even

To be fair, my front 4 is:

Memphis
Reus Neymar Mata

So obviously that is a lineup that tears it up, but that amount of shots is still crazy.

1) Set training during the season to "balanced - average". I used to have it on high and got to many injures, this has cut it down. The more matches a player plays the higher the risk of injuries. I also get frustrated at the amount of injuries one can get at times but it happens in real life to.

2) I utilize the team talk/shouts every game. Change around mentality/team shape/team instructions based on how the game is going. Before the game i pretty much always go " assertively - we've been on a good run so go out and impress me" or similar. Half time if winning "don't get complacent". HT if drawing/losing: "assertively or aggressive - not impressed". Don't like to praise them at HT because it most often just leads to us conceading. I do individual team talks before the game (sometimes at ht to). Always assertively - "i have faith in you".

As for viewing the game i go extended for important games, just commentary for the rest.

So, i won the Championship with Nottingham and miraculously won the FA cup to in the first season. Cleared out 2/3 of the squad. This plus PL money meant i could go crazy in the transfer market. The sneaky cnut i am did all the deal on instalments which meant i now had a great young squad at my disposal. With the low wages i have means i'll pass FFP with margin.

Vallejo and Tariq are upset re no first team footy so they'll be loaned out in Jan. Vallejo will still be produced at club. Currently have a squad of 20 in the EL. In a season and a half i'll have 8-9 home growns. Need to give Rugani more time to.

Expections went up and the board wants top half finish. 17 games in and we are 4th. Notable wins over Arsenal, Utd, Soton, Everton. Smashed by current nr 1 and probable PL winner (won last year) Chelsea at home 0-3. Winning the FA cup meant Europa League. 4 wins 2 draws in the group so Fenerbahce is up next.

Lacazette has been a disappointment but he'll grow in to the league, no doubt. Rotariu has been a pleasant surprise, nice development and is performing well. R Zivkovic will become a beast, just need more strength, jumping and positioning. Finishing and heading i'll train later. Wouldn't hurt to improve his tackling a bit, we are a high pressing team after all.

Cheers. I already did that +day off after games. I also add individual workload to the extent that they don´t get unhappy. Twardzik is getting injured almost every single game. Others are not that bad, but overall it is frustrating to see fairly young players getting ruined by injuries.

I have to try the commentary-setting. Playing all games on extended takes too much time. Thanks for those tips.

No problem. Also, avoid signing injury prone players.

I don't have the squad depth just yet. I'll get there! :D
I try it even if I don't have great depth, my "2nd 11" is always chock full of prospects and youngsters. Ideally I have it set so the big guns get the main games and the kids face cannon fodder.

One game as Man Utd, I sent the U-21's out against City in the derby. Smashed them 5-1, was unbearably delighted.

This also helps the youngsters grow really quickly.

I do this as well. Just, this season my board set expectations a bit high i thought. Doing better than expected though so i'll give the kids more games. They've played all EL, LC and FA cup games so far. Only 4-5 PL games though.

Second season at United. My first season was a 3rd place finish after being absolutely decimated by injuries. Never have I experienced more injuries during a single season!

Sold a lot of crap off for low fees to get rid of the wages. RVP, Valencia, Nani, Fellaini etc.

Brought in since January:

Varane
Balanta
Saul
Oliver
Joe Gomez
Jason McCarthy

Currently playing:

----------------DDG----------------
Darmian--Varane--Balanta--Shaw
-------Schneiderlin--Saul----------
-Kishna-------Mata-------Memphis
--------------Rooney----------------

Subs/Reserves:
Carrick
Gomez
McCarthy
Blind
Wilson
Oliver
Herrera
Jones
Smalling
ADM
Januzaj

You were saying..? :D

So I finished my season with Cambridge as 9th in the league. The 6th spot wasn´t too far away, but my defence was too inconsistent and leaked goals. I also won the FA cup, which was fairly baffling. I didn´t play against a better team till the final, where I upset City with a very dirty 1:0. That puts me in a great position to fight for promotion next season. The first time that I have money to spend. I also sold my two starting center backs for a nice profit. Both already reached their peak and it shouldn´t be a problem to replace them. I have a lot of dead wood in my squad and eventually I have to release various players for free.

2nd season with Nottingham, 4th in PL. No trophies. Have signed Kondogbia, Danilo, Alex Sandro, Timo Horn & Luciano Acosta ahead of 3rd season. Going for a title push.

Read that if you go on 3 preseason tours your merchanidising sales will go through the roof, so let's see.

:wenger:
I thought I did well getting to the semi's with Crewe first season, that's just insane.

luck of the draw and insane luck against City. Anyway.
My star-forward, who carried me quite a bit (Jordan Slew) was on about 230k but had a nasty top earner-clause, so I had to sell him. His new club pays him 1,3m. That is just insane. Only georg Iliev will stay as starter, the other 10 players are new. I doubled my wages, but I am still under the budget and have a lot money left. I am just too close-fisted to spend big. I always try to go for free lads who have some room to improve. I have still 7-8 players, who I´d love to ship out, because I won´t trust them anyway. I doubt that I can improve on my starting 11 without wasting too much money, but my bench needs another 2-3 players (CB, forward). This off-season is incredibly exhausting.

EDIT: One more question: There is this option to only show "realistic" transfers. Is this reliable?

Yeah it's handy, especially for lower league clubs. There've been loads of times I've agreed to sign a quality player from the league above, sometimes the same league, and then the player refuses to even enter contract discussions because of my club's stature in the game.

@Earthquake How many years in did you start having homegrown-at-club regens that were good enough for your first team at Crewe? I'm in 2020 and there's only maybe one player who's at the standard to be a starter and he's just broken his leg on loan, a few are at squad rotation level though.

Also, for anybody else to answer too, shall I go for British players only or purely players through my youth intake? I can't decide. I finished 9th in the Prem in my first season in top flight with Crewe so I've plenty of money and facilities are all top-notch.

How many years did it take you to get to the top flight with Crewe? So far I have 1 player who I reckon will be great in the top flight, one who may be decent, worth keeping for the name of 'Cameron Scorer' though. Battling to keep a 16 year old defender who is already my best CB. Being chased by Arsenal, United, Chelsea and Everton.

@spontaneus1

5 years.

I finished 12th, then 5th and promoted via playoffs to the Championship, then 17th in my first season in the Championship (survived on goal difference) then 10th and finally promoted after finishing 5th in the play offs. Very lucky in all honesty, but after finishing 7th in the Prem (I thought it was 9th but was pleasantly surprised when I booted up FM tonight) I've got enough money to pretty much secure PL football from here on. Plus I've got Euro Cup football as a result of finishing 7th!

Anyway, I've signed Ryan Ledson for £20m in installments so I guess that throws purely HG at club out the window but I could start from now.

I managed to finish second in my first season, mid way through the second now and am sitting 18th, 7 points clear of the drop. Didn't bother enforcing a full HG rule on myself as I can't be bothered sitting at the mercy of the randomness of the youth intake, instead said I'm only allowed to sign players under 18 or on loan, keeps things interesting while make it less random. Will sell cooper if I can find a good replacement for him, I'm just after buying a 16 year old from D&R in the conference so if he develops nicely I may use him instead since Cooper has been a perma crock for me.

3rd season with Nottingham. Won the league. Out in quarters of the CL. Bloody Liverpool have won the last 2 CL's and are now in the semis. FA cup final vs Utd shortly. This made me chuckle:

sdfsdfsdfsdfsgf.jpg

Chelsea won the last 2 PL's and some cup..

Any Fm experts know how to stop a player loosing determination? My hot shot CB's has dropped from 19 to 16 in a month...

So its summer 2018 and I arrived in the Premier league with Cambridge United. The last season was weird. I started really terrible and after about 10-14 games I was lower mid-table. I thought that I had a very good squad for the second division, but nothing really worked. For reasons unknown things turned around and I started to win one game after another. In the end I finished second. It was too late to catch up with Watford, who destroyed the league (102 points +58gd). Still I am delighted to win promotion. The Cups went well - especially the euro league, where I reached the semi-finals, where I got crushed by Valencia.
It is going to be another challenging summer to rebuild the squad for the first division. I hope that teams take some interest in my players, because I want to change formation. Last season I always played 4231 with a roaming/deeplying player-maker combination. I felt my defence was slightly vulnerable against teams with two forwards. I am concerned that I´d leak goals against stronger teams. I´ll either go with three in the back and defensive wingers or to get a defensive midfielder (regista would be great). Great game.

edit: another question: It is still end of the season, but all matches are already played. Now I am already looking for new players. In one of the negotiations, the other team included an "addional fee" to get another 1,2m after promotion. That makes no sense at all, because I am already promoted. Is it a bug? Do I have to pay it?
