Gaming Football Manager 2015

Why? Just because you have the money doesn't mean you have to spend it. My star player is on 110kpw, one of only 3 above 50kpw, and I've yet to pay a transfer fee for a player.

I guess it's just personal preference then

I just think it takes some of the element of challenge out of the game. Fair enough if you have a maximum number that you simply don't go over...

I just obviously find it more of a challenge to not have money as opposed to having money and choosing not to spend it. Both have their challenges though I will admit.

No Pogba? :D

Pogba too, and a ridiculously developed Odegaard (173 CA at 17!). The financial side of the game is too easy with United. Won the CL and sold a 28 year old Juan Mata(rotation player) for £53m back to Chelsea

It's a little heart breaking, I kink of want to blow a load on the top player in the world in every position.

I reckon I have two already.

Smashing! :D

So first few games of my third season at Newcastle, going pretty well. Sitting in 1st place, tied on 7 points with Man Utd, Chelsea,....and Southampton, Hull, and Middlesbrough.

Spent 49 million, made 64 from player sales.

Mostly young regens coming in, plus Lucas Romero and Douglas Santos. Plus a regen with the fantastic name of Dick Hungria. Brazilian, no less.

Outgoing was Davide Santon for 30m to Man City, Ignacio Camacho for 12, Tiote for 9, Siem de Jong for 7.

Have a couple of guys in my u21 team with 4-5 star potential, and one in my u18's with 3.5-4 star, so ill see how they come along.

CL group with Barca, SLB, and Viktoria Plizen..so should get out of there comfortably.

Also decided to take a look at what International jobs were available...im now on the WC hunt with Jamacia :)

2026/7 season. How I done it was by only using a combination of youth intake players and 18 and under players on bosmans. First few seasons in the Prem my wages were so low I was making 90m+ profits, and player sales on top of that.

Really impressive, nice one. I'm going to start the same thing right now, though will never be as successful as you. Any tips?

Use youth intake players, and under 18s on bosmans.
Keep your wages low in your first few seasons in the prem.
That plus selling people should give you 90m+
Heh. Already this is proving difficult, with my scouts finding nobody who can play Roaming Playmaker. But I shall adapt...

Just out of interest, what's the best way to discover the best regens. I've sent my scouts out to find wonderkids in France/Germany/Spain/Brazil/Argentina/England etc, but there's so few that are considered above 3.5 stars.

I did go a bit crazy after finding out that you can select multiple players at a time for scouting and ended up scouting every regen created for a year. Needless to say my inbox was overwhelmed for the next 50ish days.

I think I have about 8 different saves including United, tns, Ajax, Leicester....and while all are pretty successful...I just lose interest after a few seasons.

That's generally what I do - lost count of the amount of saves I've had this year. This is probably my one attempt at getting past the 3rd season :D

You have to watch the young players about Europe closely, and when you see good ones approachable at the end of Dec, make sure to offer enough that they can't say no.

I was lucky, tbh, had quite a few really good players through my own intakes, including the very best mid/winger in the world.

I think I've started 70+ saves this year, usually give up once I'm at this stage, win, rinse, repeat.

I rarely get past the 3rd to 5th seasons as a big club, this one only went so long, as I started in the 2nd season, as a Crewe who had been relegated to League 2.

Actually might be done with this save, though I wanted it to last me until FM16.

Was hoping to really play this properly again but I've had my contract extended at work :(

Up to around 2018 with Braga, doing pretty well. Just got a few talented Brazilians!

Nice one, I will. I saw your winger, looks amazing

In December now and have only made one signing (Omar Rowe on a free). I'm top of the league with only one loss in 20 games. Of course, this loss came at home to 22nd place Blackpool who had no wins at the point

The winger got even better since then, kid is mental, this is my first choice CB too.

Funnily enough, before I joined, the club had picked up Omar Rowe on a free, too. Turned out well, player of the year 2 years running then Birmingham took him off me for 1.4 million.

That's crazy - you have some great players. Just over a month until my first youth intake, hoping for at least 1/2 good players for the future.

Do you sell your players on a lot? Judging by your finances, I guess you do. I suppose you try to keep your top players, and sell on the ones that aren't first team quality for a profit?

Going to give Everton a bash, won't start a United save until transfer window has passed.

Not that many, really, but I'll usually chuck my 2nd choice player if I need a slot for an up and coming prospect, rather than loaning them out. Generally trying to keep all the stars, and as many English as possible.

I just scouted the top 300 players (sorted by value) under 18y/o.

Scouting the top 30 of them for a month each

So, I had a bit of a break from this game, but started my old save with Örebro in Allsvenskan again. Retained the league in my second season, which led to bigger clubs offering me interviews. Nantes, who were 19th in Ligue 1 in November offered me one, and I decided to go for it since I was already kind of bored with Allsvenskan, since it was becoming too easy to win the league and I was way off competing in Europe. When I joined Nantes I had no pressure what so ever, they just wanted me to stay competitive whatever that means. Finished 6th in my first season, which was decent but still no Europe for me which was a bit boring. Nantes however had serious financial troubles and I couldn't sign a single player on a fee, had to rely on free transfers and even that was difficult since I could barely offer any wages or even do much scouting. Ended up with an aging squad and before the second season even started I was tempted to leave.

After a few games into the season, that's what I did. Was unemployed for a few months, waiting for the right offer, which turned out to be Bolton in League 1 (after I turned down Aston Villa in the PL, mostly for the philosophies they wanted to judge me on). The board wanted me to get to the playoffs, even though we were in 18th place when I took over mid December. In the beginning I struggled a bit, but with a few signings in January on a free transfer since Bolton was in a terrible financial situation, things started to turn out quite good. With 3 games too spare, I was in second place which meant promotion, but 3 losses in my 3 remaining games (after a 15 game win streak, where I also won the Johnstone Trophy) made me go to the playoffs. I won rather easily in the semifinals, and turned around a 1-0 deficit in the final to gain promotion. However, as I mentioned Bolton were in a terrible financial state, and the squad was paper thin with no youth players pretty much. All there was was a decent first eleven. I lost 8 out of my 11 starting players and my best subs due to their contract expiring and no one wanted to extend, which left me in a right mess. I still wanted to continue on this save because it seemed a good challenge. But when the expectations for the next season was to gain promotion straight away (with 3 players in the squad FFS), I kind of lost any urge to continue. Still carried on and signed a few players but the season started terrible and I decided to quit. I would have stayed if the expectations were different but there was no way in hell I could gain promotion with that squad.

I only stayed unemployed for a week though, since Virtus Entella (a team in Serie B, never heard of them) offered me the job. I took it because there were no expectations and I figured I could build a nice little team and gain promotion maybe next season. One thing I didn't notice though was that they literally had no staff, well there was one or two under 18 coaches, but nothing else. So I had to obtain a whole new staff, which to be honest was quite fun and I got some very good coaches in, so I guess that's a positive for the future. Anyway, after two signings on free transfer, Jay Spearing being one of them, who funnily enough didn't find a club after he left my Bolton squad and didn't want to renew. He could probably have got £10k a week for Bolton but ended up signing for me for £3k a week. Started the season brilliantly and went undefeated for 10 games, but I lost my 11th away to Perugia. Still not aiming for promotion this season, but it's a fun team to manage since I've never heard of them and I've had to hire the entire backroom staff. No expectations as well which is quite nice for a change, so hopefully this will be a club where I stick around for a while.

So far then, to summarize a bit I've won the Swedish Premier League twice, gained promotion with Bolton and won the Johnstone Trophy, and I'm onto my 4th season now.
It's been a fun save actually since I've managed clubs I haven't really thought of before, and it's been fun to join new teams who are struggling, and see what I can do with them. Örebro actually were relegated the season after I left them, after winning the league. Bolton are doing terrible in the Championship and Nantes is really struggling and could go down as well.

So proud of my Championship Crewe boys :D

Against a virtually full strength Chelsea team too - barring Costa who was injured.

Nice one!

Thanks. Championship proving far more difficult for me, but hoping to finish in the playoffs at a push. Managed to get an affiliation with Man Utd, not bad!

Are United letting any good players to you?

They gave me Wilson on a save(Bradford, I think) once, and he destroyed the Championship.

Got Johnstone on loan (saved Cesc's pen). Though I want to develop my players so trying not to steal many. Definitely wanted Wilson though he has 'first-team commitments'.

Yeah, right :D

Well, that's a waste on Man Utd's part. :(

Why aren't you using Garatt? His distribution's a bit whack, but he's about the best player at the club, I had to fight off Prem clubs for him, and he ended up getting semi regular games with England once Hart retired, though tbh, for England he was the best of an average bunch.

I'm using him pretty regularly, and intended Johnstone only to be a backup. However Garratt hasn't really progressed and is still League 1 standard so Johnstone finds himself in goal for any big games as he's a considerable amount better. Still, I have high hopes for him in the future.

How did you find George Cooper? Absolutely bossing it for me.

Ahhh, fair enough then!

Cooper was sold before I joined to Burnley(for 350k), and rotted in their reserves and with shite loans. Now bounces around the lower leagues, currently at Barnsley.

Callum Saunders was sold too(575k) to Sunderland, and mostly bummed around the Championship, before two years in the Prem with QPR, and recently back at the Championship with West Ham. Never really got close to his potential, I think. I know I could have done better with him.

Interesting, those two players are probably the best two at the club right now. Saunders was the top scorer of League 1, and now joint on 8 with Kike after 13 games. Shame they let go of Cooper, he's basically a low Premier League standard player already - loads of Prem clubs interested but I tied him to a contract. That's what makes FM so great and replayable, every game is different.

Apart from Wellington Nem's career, of course. Chelsea every time.

That's exactly what I love about the game too.

Other interesting things to happen, include Concord Rangers making it all the way to the Championship, Doncaster to the Conference, Matt Tootle manages Burton, and Anthony Grant the England U19's.

Those... Are some really interesting happenings. Hopefully I will make this my longest game and see things like them too :p

Signed a Brazilian AMC/RW, he's 174cm and weighs in at 98 (!) kg. He looks so fat on the pitch it makes me laugh. He has some great stats on him though.

fecking crazy. I knocked Chelsea out previously and somehow have just done the same to (admittedly a weakened - No Aguero/Kompany/Silva) Man City.

EDIT: Watford in the semi's, bring it on!
