Gaming Football Manager 2015

I had a good save with Sampdoria. Won the CL four times in a row at one point. I struggled with Okaka though and ended up selling him after he scored an extra-time winner in the CL final

Had to have a look at Sampdoria, they have an excellent core there to build a team around.

Obiang, Duncan, Correa, Muriel, just a same Munoz and Romagnoli are on loan(Muriel too, but he has the future fee). Eder and Okaka look handy too.

Ohh, and Bonazzoli can become a world class striker, remember pinching him for a Roma save, and in the end selling him for 70m cash straight up to Man City.

Might just have to start a save with them.

Okaka has been doing well for me but Eder has been much superior so far.

I ended up selling Duncan in my first season and replacing him with Witsel.

I ended up buying Ricardo Rodriguez for left back, Stones for CB (future Miranda replacement) and Bernard, as well as Jonathas and van Persie on a free. Full backs are very important in my formation as I'm playing 442 diamond with 4 central midfielders so every threat down the flank comes from Rodriguez and Darmian - couldn't wish for a better setup there to be honest.

I'm currently playing: Romero, Rodriguez, Stones, Dede, Darmian, Camacho, Witsel, Obiang, Bernard, Eder, Jonathas although Jonathas is rotated with Okaka, Bernard is rotated with Correa, Obiand and Witsel are rotated with Soriano and Campana and Stones is rotated with Miranda. I don't care much about Serie A this season, top 3 will suffice - I want a good Champions League campaign above all.

For FM specifically or for Steam? I had no problems installing FM this time around, but a couple of years ago I had an absolute nightmare trying to get it to work when I first installed Steam.

AVG kept fecking with my install after I recently restored my laptop.

Error codes, first one was AVG blocking the installation. Uninstalled AVG, then I got error code 53 which was for Mcafee. So I had to uninstall that also!

Took me a good 2.5-3 hours to get it sorted but I'm at the promised land now and started a game! :)

Yeah, I'd have Okaka as a sub tbh, start with Muriel and Eder up front, Correa in the hole behind them. Duncan, Obiang and whoever 3rd(unless I sign someone) behind them in a 4-3-1-2(though the diamond would work just as well, or even 4-1-3-2). Of course, I'm only thinking with the default squad.

I've had Duncan on saves before, usually picked up on a free, can become an excellent BWM or CM(d), even a pretty goo Anchor, though I'd prefer someone stronger in the air for that.

Looks like you've picked up some truly excellent signings too!

Muriel left after a season in which he got injured very early on and managed only 5 or 6 games so he wasn't of much use to me.

Camacho has probably been my best signing so far. He hardly ever gets injured, he's consistently putting 8s and 9s and holds my midfield together leaving space for Witsel and co. Been very happy with Bernard so far too.

Shame about Muriel, he looks great. Bernard is a superstar.
can't buy FM becuase Steam knows i'm from Germany. I could download it the last free weekend tho

As i'm a steam illiterate - are there ways around the country restriction?

I've heard, and don't hold me to this, but I've heard if you buy it off another site that'll send you a Steam key, that it will work. I wouldn't want to waste money finding out that was wrong though!

Yeah, Muriel looks good but he hasn't set the world alight since his loan ended either. Eder, Jonathas and Okaka are as good as him, Jonathas has been tremendous so far this season. Eder will probably have 1 or 2 more good seasons seeing as he's already 29 but for the service he's given me in the first two I'm going to keep him until he retires.

I find it difficult to search for motivation for league, two consecutive titles have removed some of the hunger and I'm far more interested in Champions League currently. I'm still doing well in the league, 5 wins and 2 draws in my first 7 games but I don't think I'm going to be bothered enough to provide tactics good enough to win the league in the end. I just skip through games half arsed most of the time.

I get that, once the league title's rolled in a few times, I just instant result the matches waiting for Europe.

Had a save at Roma, after 10 or so years I was also Italy manager(only picking Roma players), where I spent 3 seasons just instant resulting everything waiting for the Euros and teh World Cup.....

Wonder what they could do to make long term games more interesting...

Less world class regens, easy as pie in the fist few seasons to hover up 10+, by time I was ending that Roma save, despite only choosing Italians, world class players were ranked 2.5 stars for my squad.
I guess, that'd make it a little more challenging but I reckon it'd still get pretty stale after a few seasons. Can't really think of anything else they could do though.

My PSG save went a bit weird.

Zlatan has 33 goals in 25 games but has decided to retire, he appears on favoured personal and icon, and he can't help going to the press telling them he can't wait to watch himself play and that he reminds himself of well Zlatan.

I'd love to see real world events changing things in the game. Like with countries dropping in and out of the EU the value of players in certain currencies/leagues could change. And maybe scheduled blips in talent, for example this Brazil team at the moment is the worst by miles in ~15 years.

I think there are a couple of countries that join the EU early on aren't there? Would definitely be cool if they extended that a bit. Blips in talent sound cool too, still not a massive game-changer though I think!

Yeah normally Serbia and Ukraine, but you could have thinks like Greece going bust or the situation with the Spanish banks impacting values.

Aside from that, it's hard to see what they can do. After all, it's a game about being a football manager, so there's a very limited scope for expansion.

Yup lol. I still wish there would be a way of entering the game as a player and then becoming a manager after you reture, though I guess that's more for FIFA/PES than FM...

To be fair, that sounds almost exactly how Zlatan is.

How do I go about signing regens? I'm on the day before the Spanish youth intake, and I want to poach some regens before they sign for their clubs on youth contracts.

@Earthquake

What club are you? You need to be a much bigger club than the one they generate at to poach this year.

Best way is to go to the "Approach To Sign", see what the estimated potential cost is, and then offer about that amount as a transfer fee instead, say 500k or so, if the cost is "will cost 500k + 500k in potential clauses" EDIT: You can even try lower, you could possibly nab this potential guy for 2-300k. If you just offer them a contract and they accept, you automatically owe a nice chunk of sell on fee to the club you poached them from, actually offering them a transfer fee can avoid that.

Villareal in 2021, third biggest reputation in the world. How do I find out which regens are worth taking? I generally look for good anticipation or decisions attributes which normally develop later but apart from that I haven't a clue. There's loads of regens at this point which 15+ dribbling at age 16 but don't amount to shit.

Finally got back into this after having a somewhat long break.

Started in Portugal, was looking for an okay team but none of Sporting/Porto/Benfica. In the end went for Braga as they seemed to be decent but not that good as I looked over their squad (there best player was a 34 y/o RW Alan, could arguably be Eder who is shite though IMO)

Had no money so went with loan/FT deals

First two windows (Summer & Winter) I managed to get in:
Niklaus Helenius
Alex Serrano
Eric Dier
Tom Carroll
Domagoj Vida

Signed one permanent player who was 20 y/o CM Bismarck Adeji-Boateng from Man City who is pretty decent for my level. Brought him in after an initial 6 month loan for 225k once I'd sold off one of my better defenders (Aderlan Santos - €3Mil) and one of my midfielders (Luiz Carlos €1.1Mil).

Made a small €3.7Mil profit from deals in my first year which is good, it's also one of my goals in the save to do similar to what Porto do in real life. Buy low and sell high for max profits etc.

Football wise my first season was really good. Playing with my trusts 4-2-3-1 Wide formation I managed a solid 3rd place finish. I only finished behind Porto on GD as I drew on the last day and Benfica were champions. Won both the Portuguese league cup and the Taca De Portugal which was very nice in my first season. Had a shambolic display in the Europa though

Slightly tough group which included Soton, Dortmund and Brugge. At the time my team were just getting used to my tactics etc. (excuses ) and I finished bottom of that group!

I've had a very good start to the transfer window this year. Managed to extend the loan deals for Helenius, Dier and Vida. Add to that the signing of Jese Lingard for €1.5 Mil and Lucas Ocampos for just €3.9 Mil who should tear this league up!

Next target for me going into this season in a new CM to replace Carroll from last year so lest see what happens there!

Just got totally punked by St Pauli. Showed interest in the job and got the interview. They start asking me about the clubs expectations and budgets, which I agreed to. Took the job offer, and then everything changed. They've gone back on everything they proposed. Now there's zero transfer budget, a much lower wage budget which is in the red because of a bloated squad, and instead of an expected top half finish as per the interview, they want me to win the 2nd division.

Think I'll just play 10 up front and get these hipster gobshites relegated.

Yoann Gouffran has been the bee's knees so far. Actually, so have Pione Sisto and Remy Cabella.

Gouffran -16 appearances, 12 goals, 10 assists, avg rating of 8.23
Sisto - 16 appearances, 13 goals, 7 assists, avg rating of 8.62
Cabella - 17 appearances, 13 goals, 9 assists, avg rating of 8.15

All to propel my Newcastle side into 1st place.

17 GP with 15 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss, 61 GF 15 GA

Some notable results so far

Sunderland 0 -5 Newcastle (1st game of the season)
Aston Villa 1 - 5 Newcastle
Hull 1 - 6 Newcastle
Newcastle 4 - 0 Man City

Plus two wins over United, both at home, one in the COC 3-0 and 3-1

The Magpies are on the rise!

Umtiti is available somehow to join my club in League 1.

Holy shit

Coming up to the mid point of the first season with Newcastle...

And yet he still only made the subs bench for World Team of the Year :wenger:

Not bad for a 5m signing...Even better that he's still only making 16k a week :D

Started a new save with United, but with the transfers updated so far with one of those databases on the si forums. Signed Darmian, Schneiderlin, Ramos and Kane. 9 wins and 1 draw in my first 10 games, just the 1 goal conceded so far. Schneiderlin being a bit of a beast in the holding position.

So, having won back to back titles at Sampdoria I got an offer from Napoli who sat 11th in the league halfway through the season. I decided to accept it because it seemed like a good challenge. What I found there was a lot of dross, I've sold all older players and Higuain to generate money for signings but I could only grab Carvajal and Zaza in January.

I proceeded to lift them to a respectable 5th place with a strong league finish and won Europa League which granted me access to Champions League football next season. I've signed Sule, McCarthy, Scuffet, Dragovic, Bernat and Xhaka which ought to give me a good core for next seasons (all very young), also picked up Fellaini for a small fee and Enzo Perez, Juanfran and Kolarov on a free to improve numbers. It's basically a whole new team compared to last season but I am expecting very good things from them over the next few seasons:

Scuffet
Carvajal Sule Koulibaly Bernat
McCarthy
Xhaka Jorginho
Ganso
Zaza Insigne

Bench: Rafael (GK), Dragovic, Ghoulam, Juanfran, Fellaini, Albiol, Gabbiadini, Duvan Zapata

EDIT: Just managed to get Muniain for 11m. Will replace Ganso I think. Also sold Albiol at 5m. Going for the title this season!

Started a save with Crewe, who had been relegated to League 2, began youth intakes only, but I gave myself a little leeway in that I can sign any youths for no transfer fee, so 18 and under free agents, or on amateur contracts. Somehow landed back to back promotions with a squad that honestly belong in League 2. Couple of regens popped up that could be a bit class, just need to avoid dropping out of the Championship for now.

Plowed my way to the Premier League title with Newcastle in the first season. Only signed Pione Sisto (who I highlighted his accomplishments above) and Balanta.

Ended up selling Perez for 30m, Sisto for 25m, and funded my transfer kitty to sign:

Icardi - 22.5m
Tielemans - 20m
Depay - 31m
De Bruyne - 39m
Marquinhos - 9m

Might still move on a couple other players, but quite happy with the 6.5m investment on Perez and Sisto turning in to 55m....even if I did blow it all again straight away.

Only way to play the game, really....

 I always try and "behave" or be frugal and build up my finances...never works.

I realize I could have held out for more on Sisto though....agreed to the fee too early :(
Aye, even when I think I've been restrained, I end up having spent 100m or so.....

This youth only stuff just isn't the same.

Especially when I never get any decent youth through anyway. No idea why I'm spending all this money on upgrading youth facilities, youth training, and such...I could have blown that on some other players instead.

It's weird, at bug clubs I never really see good youth from my own intakes(barring one miraculous save with Roma...), this save with Crewe, three years running I've had quality in, and one from the intake before I joined.

Of course, they/I have much lower standards, but some of these are real gems, three being chased by all the top clubs, three more a step below but easily Premiership potential. Two of them were key players all season in the Championship aged 16.

Been doing great for Napoli so far, 1st place in the league after 10 games, virtually qualified for the next round in Champions League. If I win the league or Champions League here I am going to look for a job at Juventus or Inter.

Won the league with Napoli too. Took them from 11th in the middle of last season to 1st within a year, immense improvement. Everytime I had a full season in Serie A I have won the league so far.

Hmmm, hit a bit of a moral dilemma. I decided this would be a youth only save with Crewe, but I'd allow myself to sign 18 and under players who were free agents or amateurs, and it's going well, very well. Finished 16th in the Championship in my first season there(3rd overall, 4th of the game), and now I'm battling for promotion.

The dilemma is, my scout is after throwing up three really nice looking players, all 18 years old, one a DR at PSG, one a DM at Lech, and one a GK at Stade Rennes. It's January and they're all approachable with 6 month contracts(both willing and on affordable wages). In any regular save, absolute no brainer, they all have potential, and one would even walk into my team now.

Seems against the spirit of my youth plans, but they hit all the targets, free, 18 or less, prospects to be developed....

I'd go for them. My experiences with youth saves always leave me frustrated if I'm too strict because the quality just doesn't come through, or inevitably wants to leave to a bigger club.
