Gaming Football Manager 2015

How the heck did you manage you qualify for the CL with a relegation favourite?

Good tactics and a bit of luck

Really got hammered by most of the big teams, but always looked comfortable against lower half of the table teams, and pulled off a few surprise home wins against the teams challenging for Europe and just made myself hard to beat.

I certainly wasn't a high scoring team ;) although Kramaric and Knockaert want to move to Liverpool and Spurs now because they have a better chance to challenge for trophies

Haven't had a chance to get on and play this save for a while. Might need to do that again soon.

Found this lad at PSG too, look at how developed his is!

16 and he's one of my best players...

Nice. What year?

Do yous use the same tactics for each team/save or do you try to change it up? Using a 451 with a flat 5 in the middle and I'm really liking it. Never liked the 41221 type 451 or a 4231 as I couldn't really get the defence sorted without destroying the attack, but this seems to be a good balance between the two.

2020/2021 for that, managing them since 2015/2016, 3rd in game season, as I'd started in Ireland in January 2014.

I try and switch my tactics between saves, and teams. Often for different 3-5-2 or 5-3-2's, 4-3-3's with a DM and wide AML/R's(4-1-2-2-1, IIRC), diamonds too, sometimes defensive, sometimes attacking. The 4-3-3/4-1-2-2-1 is the only single striker formation I've really liked(arguably because I basically make one of the wingers act as a striker), usually want two, or three.

This save for me, I began in Ireland with a flat 5-3-2, when I moved to Scotland I tried to keep that, but didn't like it and moved to 4-1-3-2, which eventually evolved into a standard narrow 4-1-2-1-2 diamond.

I'd imagine the game gets very boring if you use the same tactic across all teams and saves....

Anybody looking to start a long term save may want to hold off until Tuesday, LFCMarshall is releasing his latest update (first in 3-4 months). Going to dive into my United save then with Depay

Yeah, I'd imagine it would. I usually always tinker, and end up fecking up. When I start dominating I get bored and try to change the tactic. In my current save I won 10 of the first 11 games, but I tried to tinker with the formation cause I was wining 4-1 and 3-1 but I hated conceding that goal and wanted to get 3-0 and 4-0. Ended up losing 3 of my last 7, all 1-0. Should be ok if I swap back but that goal in the 80th odd minute that we kept conceding was really annoying me. Also, I don't like a formation if I dont have 55+% possession and if I allow more than 5 shots on goal (obviously only have these expectations when I'm one of the best in the league).

Took me ages to get a good defensive/possession tactic going. I think I ended up averaging 65-70% against most teams, can't remember how much I was conceding though.

I managed to win the Europa League with my Villa side in my 2nd season. Even though I sold Benteke for 35mil to Madrid, I still managed to finish 6th. I signed Ings on a free contract and I signed Paulo Dybala for 5mil. I also managed to sign this very talented winger Pablo Sarabia for 16.5mil slightly on the expensive side as I like to wheel and deal. Sarabia struggled initially but he was one of my best players in the business end of the season. He combines so well with Scott Sinclair on the opposite wing. En route to the Europa final, I had to play both Liverpool and City. I destroyed Liverpool 5-2 away and finished the job at home, managed to sneak a draw away to City in the semis, then Sinclair scored a brace against his former club as I ended up beating them 3-1 to get to the final. In the final I played Roma, beat them 2-0, both goals from Ings. I also won the FA cup.

Scott Sinclair is actually unbelieavably good in this game. When you look at his stats, he looks average bar his dribbling and physical stats such as pace, but he is very good in actual matches, he makes well timed runs and knows when to cross or pass. It's a delight to have him.

I also beat Real in the Super Cup. Just started my 3rd season and have signed Seamus Coleman, Marco Reus, and Aaron Ramsey.

BTW, Caner Erkin is one of the best left backs in this game. I managed to sign him for 5mil from Fenerbahce.

My current team:

hghfhfhfhfhfhfhGuzan
ghjghColeman Okore Clark Erken
shgjhhjdhsRamsey Delph Romero
hkhkjhhSinclair -------------- Reus
jhjkhjhhbvhhvhghDybala

I should go through the CL group stages with this team, but I don't expect to go far.

Lightning fast, fit, a dribbler and good at finishing, Sinclair has all the necessaries to smash teams to bits. I'd like more composure, but he shouldn't need it. Erkin looks a little weak defensively for me, but I'd adore him at wingback in a 3-5-2, or at wide mid.

Looks like your squad is coming along incredibly well.

All my strikers injured so played Depay and Fellaini up front vs Schalke won 5-1 and Depay scored all five.

Almost always end up using Depay as a striker. He's great there on FM, especially as once Rooney declines a bit there's nobody really to buy to be a consistent goalscorer, or at least nowhere near Depay.

Started a game unemployed with my ability set to National A and Sunday League. Got rejected by Scottish League 1, Stenhousemuir, so I ended up accepting a job at Cerveira in the Portuguese third tier. We're relegation favourites and the squad doesn't look too hot, but I've managed to breeze through pre-season with an asymmetrical, counter attacking press that basically means everything goes down the left hand side.

Just won the 2023 Dutch title with Utrect, my second one in 3 years, after a disappointing 4th last season.

I had a 10 point lead with about 5 games so go but end up fecking up to the point I had a 1 point lead over PSV with 1 game left. With 5 mins to go PSV were up in their game 4-0 and I was up 2-1 when AZ score to make it 2-2. Was so pissed lol, then in the 5th min of stoppage time (only meant to be 3 mins) my captain and academy product Lennart Brink scores a world class goal from the left corner of the 18 yard box that goes in the top right hand corner for the title win haha could believe it.

My then met with him and most of my other top player telling me a few days later that they want to leave for teams like Watford and Granada. Not sure if I am gonna cash in or not as I've actually been given money to spend this season. Most years I'm given between 50k and 300k but this season I've been given 7.5 mil so I don't really need the money. Plus I want to attempt to make it out of the Champions league group stages.

Also have job offers from the likes of Chelsea, Man United and Roma but I think I'll turn them down in an attempt to take Utrecht towards champions league glory.

Need to find a save, bumming around Scotland is too easy now, perhaps a youth intake only one, can't make my mind up.

Had a look at Auxerre(again) but man I hate their squad....

Tried doing the Fergie challenge in its hardest form?

I don't know what it is in my classic game with United but Chelsea have the tendency to totally collapse against me. I thought that 11-0 I posted on here before was hard to top until I played the FA cup final 2018 against them and this happened.

Just reaching the end of my first season and I've been keeping a slack eye on the Premier League. Liverpool had been top for ages, at one point they were a point clear with three games in hand. Coming into the last game they were two points clear of Chelsea, and playing at home against a Spurs side that could no longer get CL football but were guaranteed EL football, so essentially, had nothing to play for. Fortunately, FM decided that Gerrard needed his heart ripping out once more as Chelsea won and Liverpool lost, meaning Chelsea won the league.

On my new United save I lost to Norwich on the last day of the season 2-0 when all I needed was a point to guarantee the league. Didn't matter as I beat City on goal difference. Heh.

City have just triggered Rulli's release fee on my Villareal save though, the bastards. No other keeper in the world comes close to him, and they're all so expensive :(

Have you tried Matt Ryan?

I bought some regen keeper who's 3 stars and could go to 3.5

His shot-stopping comes close to Rulli's but he's got 17 eccentricity (which I hate) and poor communication though. Rulli left with 19 in one-on-ones, reflexes and handling and 18 in communication and command of area. :(

Have a 21 year old Halilovic on loan from Barca(17/18 season), chanced my arm in January on a lowball and they went for it, probably the best 2.5m I'll ever spend in FM.

FFS. One of the best halfs I've played (all things considered). Messi levels the game by dribbling on his own straight from the kick off, like some sort of Fifa goal. Barcelona had done less than nothing so far. So annoying.
I finished 2nd in my group on GD consisting of Chelsea, PSG and Club Brugge. This won't be my year.

@Snow
Messi is incredible in fm 2015. It's the first fm where he actually gets the figures he does irl. At least for me. Also everytime I click on his profile I loose my breath looking at all those 20s. I'm playing a save as Villarreal and I've just conceded that when Messi plays I have to outscore Barca.

I did win the match, which is strange as I have a giant problem knocking Juve off their perch. Scored a sort of freak winner in the 94th minute. All the Barca players are inside the box so Valero whips the corner outside it. Bernadeschi is there and shoots an outrageous volley from 30-35m out. Hits it perfectly straight at the goal but before Bravo is able to make yet another save Otamendi tackles it in (that what the animation looked like).

Very happy with the win but I expect a loss away. Alba and Suarez will be back and my schedule is packed and full of injuries. Messi's average rating is only about 8,3. Still far off his last season's 8,55.
