It works fine for me. Im usually in the top 5 least conceding list. And DDG won Golden Glove last season for me. But Mignolet and Courtois win it every other year. Mignolet and Liverpool are so overrated in this game.I've never managed to get the 4231 to work. ALways seem to conceed a shit ton.
Benzia turns into a solid goalscorer. I managed to pick him up for free cause his contract was up in 6 months, sold him a few seasons later for £25m to Fiorentina.Any of the wonderkids attainable? Kenedy, Yassine Benzia, Lucas Boye, Malcom, Munir, etc, etc?
Best time to get absolute bargains. I got Gotze for 7mill with a year left on contract, and 150k wages.Benzia turns into a solid goalscorer. I managed to pick him up for free cause his contract was up in 6 months, sold him a few seasons later for £25m to Fiorentina.
Does anyone else see when a players contract is running out in a year, then keep declaring interest in him to unsettle him, then in 6 months sign a pre contract with them? I've done it with a few players now, mainly regens that are going to be at least 3* potential, they fall for it everytime if you're reputation is quite high.
I'm just about to sign Julian Brandt on a free from Liverpool as his contract is up, then I'll sell Gnabry or Barkley as they're ageing now, think Barkley is 30 on my save.

That's what I'm playing with Sassuolo, working very well.3 at the back actually works so well for me at United.
But failed miserably when I did a Real Madrid save.

What settings do you have your CMs on?
What roles do you use? I usually prefer that sort of style as you can absolutely dominate if you get it right, but I usually end up having to go to 3 at the back to get my wingbacks far enough up the pitch, or just play with WBs anyway and only 2 CBS(which only really works when my team is one of the best).Big fan of 4231, myself. I play it with three CAMs though, instead of two wide men and one CAM.
I've found crowding the central areas (regardless of formation) works best. Whenever I try to get lots of width, I'm never happy with the results.
I generally just buy/use any natural centre midfielder, and then use whatever role they're most comfortable with. What roles do you use? Kovacic as a DLP and Gungogan as a BWM. But then my 'instructions' might vary as well. I have set short passing, quicker tempo, close down more, clear ball to flanks, higher defensive line (they are almost at half way line most of the game) etc etc. My wingers are inside forwards on 'support'.What settings do you have your CMs on?
DDG just told me halfway through the second season he wants to join Madrid.
Oh the realism
Got absolutely bored with standard saves, so I'm currently doing a sort of 'director of football' save. Making all of the transfers, and then resigning and holidaying the season.
Yeah, pretty much. A different manager each season. I do all the transfers in the summer. If they have a good season, and don't need my transfers, I leave them to it.So you'll have to sack the manager every time you want to do a transfer?
I'm in a Man Utd save, 2019. Winning almost everything, making lots of profit. Anyone have an idea how rich you have to be to convince the directors to build a new stadium?
Last time I managed to convince them was back in FM2012 I think. Was around 2025ish? I think it's pretty difficult to do.I'm in a Man Utd save, 2019. Winning almost everything, making lots of profit. Anyone have an idea how rich you have to be to convince the directors to build a new stadium?
100k is the maximum expansion capacity at OT in the game, so if you keep getting more popular they'll have no choice but to build a new stadium.Thanks. Already had 2 expansions, to about 100.000 places. Not that I want to leave Old Trafford, just seems like fun
Not sure, but don't those numbers (min, max, avg attendance) change over time depending on your reputation and stuff like that? I always assumed that they would...What is the maximum attendance possibility(again you'd have to check with an editor) for Man Utd? They won't build a new stadium unless they're selling out 100k and there's room for attendance growth(as there would be IRL)
Sacked for the first time ever on an FM game. I just don't get it with this edition.
Had the PSV job with the intention of staying a few years and getting a PL job. In my 2nd season I won the league and gave a good showing in the CL (with the tactical advice of @Earthquake ). Halfway through my 3rd season Arsenal approached me for the job as Klopp had taken them to about 16th.
I took the job and was pretty impressed with the quality of the side. I played the same tactic (see below) bit shipped goals like you wouldn't believe. I finished the league in 8th and got the sack.
Side was:
Sczezney(sp?)
Chambers Koscielny Balanta Robertson
Schneiderlin
Ramsey Wilshere
Ozil -------------- Sanchez
Giroud
Settings of the GK and back 4 are all default. From there it's:
Anchorman(D)
RoamingPlaymaker(S) BoxToBox(S)
InsideForward(S) -------- Ramdauter (A)
AdvancedForward(A)
How the feck is that side shipping so many goals?
This would be great, would make it a hell of a lot more interesting.I tell you what...
The day when the AI is a lot smarter about their signings will be the day when this game takes on a new level. You can build a team into European giants, and quite literally leave them with a team of 21 year old wonder-kids on modest wages. But within years of leaving, they start overpaying and playing 29 year olds that they don't need. You can literally go through their transfer history, and it's as if they want to wreck the clubs finances, stifle their youngsters' progression, increase the average age, and generally do a 'QPR'.
It would also be more challenging if other clubs had a hint of a system when signing/selling players. There's not one team who seems to be interested in actually putting together a balanced squad either for now or for the future. Surely it's doable for each club (or manager, at least) to have a transfer 'philosophy'.
it would make the game a lot more interesting if other clubs were a bit more intelligent with their transfers. It would take the game to the next level. Maybe I'm asking for too much.
