Football Boots

Well after canvassing the mates that I play with it seems I have mutant feet (or they have weak feet) - a few months ago we went to the beach and a mate brought his normal football, and we had a kick around on the sand, and after about 5 minutes no one could go on because their feet hurt too much. Whereas I was entirely fine, and to this day prefer to play bare foot (depending on how my back is feeling) than with shoes.

Whereas everyone else I know cries and can't hit the ball hard.

 It only hurts my feet if the ball or my feet are cold. If its warm i'm all set

Some awful boots on show.

I agree.

Here's mine:

Check out all the double 'ard bastards that refuse to wear anything but black boots.

Black fecking boots sonny or I'll fecking smash ya! You feckin money wasting flash cu...oh you've got wide feet have you? My apologies I didn't know it was because your feet are wide.

 When a bunch of us went down the local sports shop to get shoes, they were all pre occupied with colour choice, whereas I was the only one that didn't care. We've got one flash bastard with lime green bright boots, and another with the whites boots he could find. I ended up with black and blue because they were the only ones that fit :(

Tbh, I see no correlation with colour of boots and ability, nor indeed with how 'ard you are.

Yes, you can look like a flash git, but feck it as long as you don't compromise comfort and performance for colour then who cares? Walking along the street nowadays it seems that men are fast turning into women and dressing like a polished turd. I've got a pair of t90 laser IIs in orange blaze and they are fecking bright, but the only downside to them is that if I'm having a good game then I'm pretty easy to mark because they are quite distinctive. When it comes to tough talking centre backs, they soon stop chatting when they realise they are playing against The White Heskey.

O thats alright then. It was just the pink boots and clear shoe fetish that got me wondering. As you were.

Boots I've owned.

Puma kings. Second hand about 10 years old. Falling to pieces and held together by duck tape '1st season'

In my 2nd season I had

First new set. Lasted me two seasons 'were the cheapest variety'

lotto-zhere-leggenda-due.jpg

2nd hand set of these bad boys in traditional black for my 4th season.

5th season I I got these.

Again the cheapest set, last two seasons 'got them out of a bargain bin actually' in a very dark blue colour

7th an 8th season i've had these

Loved them to bits, but feck me were they hard to keep clean.

My current ones for my 9th and 10th seasons and probably my 11th.

Bam!!! These are light as hell. They have carbon fiber soles so they are a bit tough to break in, but after you do they are the bees knees.

Just re-read my own opinion on this from 18 months ago...

I wear Adidas Predator's for soft ground, Adidas Copa Mundial's for hard.

Mundial's are probably the best boots you can buy. Despite being over 30 years old, developments in technology etc. Even most of the pro's say this. You could do a lot worse than their soft ground equivalent - World Cup's - as well.

Yep, still on the money.

As you were.

Forget all these gay dilido boots! - "The adidas World Cup Soft Ground Football Boots – real icons in the football boot world.

With a soft lightweight kangaroo leather upper and a TPU sole with screw-in studs, combined with a black and white colour scheme, the adidas World Cup Soft Ground Football Boots have been worn by World Class footballers all over the planet for over 20 years."

I own and use all the ones I posted, plus a couple of backups I have loaned out to people
Michael Thomas used to hang on to a favourite pair of boots for years, the ones he scored with at Anfield were patched to hell and shot to pieces.

I have a question (cause I'm too lazy to search). When did the first pair of colored (in the sense that black boots where the norm years ago) boots appear ? I mean football has become a circus with players having rainbows as shoes.
I loved the times where everyone had one color, I'm blasé

The first time i saw a pair of alternative coloured boots was John Barnes vs United in the 96 Fa Cup final. They were white.

I thought he had forgotten his boots at home and was wearing a pair of trainers.

You guys in the UK are spoilt. My mates went over last season to watch the United Spurs game at OT & they bought me a pair of Nike Vapor 4's back (the black with the neon green swoosh on them) with them for 35 pounds. In Cape Town, that boots is priced at R2,000 = roughly about 200 pounds!

I think it started a bit before that, around the time the second/third generation of Predators. After that, the likes of Lotto and Puma went crazy with the colours.

I've got these, they're pretty nice and comfy and give me good protection, but preferred my Adidas World Cup boots. I feel like the touch is better with the Adidas ones, will be getting them again next time around.

Plus they remind too much of the England national team, I would never wear those boots

I went football boot shopping this time two years ago. Some of the modern boots are an absolute disgrace - no comfort, no protection.

I bought a pair of Adidas World Cups. Best pair of boots I've ever had. None of this multi-coloured nonsense.

Your mates probably bought you the cheap version, the ones with the propper material go for about £100 usualy, most expensive ive seen is £170

I think John Fashanu was the first player in England to wear white boots.

Sounds right, the Mercurials have about 6 price groups.

I've bought these the first half of this season. Lightest boots ever made, literally weigh nothing.

Next I want a pair of these - Nike CTR360 Maestri Elite Football Boots - Black/White/Retro - Football Boots

Any good? I've tried the super-light boots before - the Vapours and the Puma efforts - but I was never that taken with the comfort or how they felt when striking the ball. Little different to wearing sprint spikes really.

These are much, much lighter than any Mercurials, even the SL's and Elites. I didn't think it was possible, and to be honest after buying a couple of pairs of Mercurials I decided I would give light boots a rest for a while because, as you mention, they aren't that comfortable. But as soon as I picked these up I had to have them. In terms of comfort, they have a skeletal structure that grips like a band around your foot, they don't lock the heel in like sprinting spikes, and they are very tight. so basically they slip on like a pair of slippers. So far I've only been wearing my astros because the ground is too hard and I've only done a bit of running in the adizeros, so I can't give you the full run down on striking the ball but the feel of a ball for control is good because they are so thin. They take a bit of breaking in, actually a lot of breaking in. I should probably have bought the leather versions because they are a lot more malleable and only 10g heavier. Overall they are still worth it because they are just so fecking light.
