Football Boots

Wait those hand knitted boots are for real?

They are. And apparently, so are these...

The new Adidas Primeknit FS Boot comes with a knitted upper material, which could be also seen used for the Adidas Samba Primeknit boot. The Adidas Primeknit FS Football Boot comes without laces, while the football boot and the socks are combined. It's the first time that a football boot is united with the socks, which was previously only used for American Football Cleats.

The new Nike Magista.

The black ones look sexy.

By the way, why are Adidas and Nike both bringing out the sock thing at the same time? No patent?

How do these work with the actual team socks considering you can only use tape the same color as the socks I'd be surprised if you are allowed wear a sock over the bottom of team socks

They'd probably be brilliant to play with, really light, although I feel like they'd get soaked pretty easily and then it would just be uncomfortable, and it being so lightweight you can probably break your foot easily.

I am pretty sure that they would of tested that, as these boots were in the making since 2010.

Yeah that's what I seen. I always dreamt of having a pair of manias but I wasn't old enough to afford them. My brother has a couple pairs and a few precision ones. Bastard has massive feet though so I can't wear them.

Me too! :D Thanks for the heads up in any case, I'll definitely be getting a pair if they do release them.

My current boots are a pair of Pred Lethal Zones (my first Preds), they're really great. I used to get only leather boots, but these changed my mind on synthetic ones. The next generation of Predators (Instinct), at least the initial colour, looks awful!

The Magista looks nice, actually. Set to be around 250€ a pair though with three different versions coming out regarding the price.

The Primeknit looks weird but the jury's out until I have seen a picture of someone wearing them.

LZ predators for £50 any good...

That's an excellent offer! Initially when you quoted the price I thought you were talking about the 'cheap' version of the boot, as Adidas always does 3 versions of its boots: the top range, the medium range and the cheapest one. They usually look the same, but what changes is the fabrics used to make them and that kind of stuff. The link you posted, given the initial price was £165, yeah they're the top range. Those are the ones I have (not the same colour, but the same generation of LZs), just the studs underneath are different. Those are 'SG', which means Soft Ground, whereas I have 'AG', for Artificial Grass, as that's the surface I play on most often.

Great shoes nonetheless, I'd probably get a pair if you're looking for something!

My son was looking at boots, my last pair were hanging in the garage for years until the missus binned them.
Depends of his style of play also. They're great for control and shooting, as well as long passing. I mean they're not magical shoes and won't make him turn into Beckham but that's what they're designed for mostly, they're not really defender boots.

What is the purpose of having the sock attached to the boot. You would either still have to wear other socks, or buy a pair of boots for each kit you wear. Stuff that

Here's how they look when worn:

I was watching the press conference and Nike made a clear poke at adidas - saying that they could have released a Flyknit version of a football boot easily, but they wanted to wait until they had something truly revolutionary.

Nike were first to the market with Flyknit, and this boot is way ahead of the adidas knitted boot in terms of research, construction, execution - everything.

The consensus from people I have spoken to is that adidas rushed out their knitted boot after learning that the Magista was going to leverage Flyknit construction.

As for the boot, the people I have chatted with say the feeling is unlike any other boot - by far the most comfortable boot they have worn. The boot is covered with a water resistant laminate - which will address any concerns of the boot getting wet/soaked/heavy. Am sure it will hurt if you get someone's studs on your foot - as they undoubtedly have less protection than a more traditional boot. But top players would sacrifice protection if it meant added feel/control over the ball.

I think they look stunning!

I don't know why but that photo looks really photoshopped =P.

They look quite good though.

Companies will often photoshop the hell out of those type of pictures - not so much with regard to retouching, but also changing the products etc. Common examples would be to use the same picture/pose of Iniesta and then photoshop in some of the Nike Team Kits (so the ones that local clubs could get for their teams) instead of the Barca kit. Wish my photoshop skills were on a level to be able to do that!

When are these actually being released in stores? You can never really tell with just pictures need to get them and have a hands on feel.

In regards to protection the current boots have hardly any protection anyway so it isn't a big deal. I had the Mercurial 2s and they felt like I was wearing nothing at all. Absolutely killed when stood on.

They need to start making black and white versions though. This fecking constant lime green and fluorescent yellow/orange is starting to piss me off. It is almost impossible to find a pair of black and white boots unless you get some Copas.

Have you seen these pics?

Thanks. I've found myself to prefer Nike over Adidas when it comes to boots. That black pair looks nice. I still use the T90 lasers 2s but the loop holes have all broke so I can hardly tie them any more. Need to start shopping around for a new pair.

Haha - I worked for Nike for 12 years, so am completely biased!!
Yeah don't worry I was just being facetious, if you have good insider info by all means share it!

But I'm really not convinced by those 'boots', aesthetically I think they're pretty ugly, and I have to say the fact there's even less protection would make me very wary.

I received a pair of the Copa Mundial Sambas on Tuesday. They're so beautiful I may not actually wear them to play in.
