Everyone had the same number of friendlies, I just wasn't paying that close attention to how far down I scrolled on the schedule before screenshotting everyone. Good catch though Eagle Eyes!
Sjor has an odd rotation I haven’t figured out. Staying true to Ferguson’s roots, Sjor also has a squad on the younger side. Uwe Seeler and Johnny Giles pose as the ‘elder’ statesmen. From what I can tell Ferguson doesn’t have a favorite XI yet and is still shuffling around. This uncertainty might derive from a 3 game losing streak where sjor dropped matches to tuppet, harms and Pnut. But perhaps Fergie has found the right combination as Sjor is on a two match winning streak as he travels away to Antohan. Seeler might be the team leader but 20 year old Dennis Bergkamp is Sjor’s leading goal scorer and 3 time player of the match.
Team Stats
Team Antohan
The Cruyff squad started off very strong but has struggled the last few matches. Cruyff is going to need to find the right balance again or this side will fall out of the CL positions. Somehow Desailly lost his starting position to the Popluhar-Popescu combo. The fans also made noise about Andreolo being the second name on the team sheet. However, his performances have silenced most critics as he has been the most consistent performer. Some are also hope Romario will take over for Spencer at CF.
Fascinating match. Fritz Walter passes to Spencer who slides the ball across to a surging Rijkaard who puts it up 1-0. Then Walter creates all on his own, dribbling and blasting a 20 yarder into the net. But Sjor isn’t even warmed up. Iceman Dennis Bergkamp controls a pass and curves an arc that no one could save. Then some grit as Nesta wins a battle after a corner in minute 46 to even it out 2-2. Then the half. This was a superb match to watch. BTW I watch in 2d for the FM people with just the dots so I can imagine all the moves players make.
NM has one of the most clear set of results so far. 2 draws in row, 2 wins in row, 2 losses in row. Guttman’s 424 ran into some tough opponents in Lobanovskyi and Capello who exploited the weaknesses in the 424. However, I don’t think Guttman is done yet. He has some more surprises in him I feel. Or maybe that’s just the whiskey talking. He does have the deadliest combination in Ronaldo (7g 3a) and Piola (6g 4a).
Team Tuppet
I’ve oversold the whole betting favorite angle. But its easy to see why as Tuppet as collected an impressive array of old school talent. Bican at CF supported by Schiaffino in the hold and Kopa on the right is just tantalizing. However on the left Herrera has preferred 23-yo Amarildo to the 20-yo Savicevic. Savicevic though has looked fantastic when he has come on. Herrera looks like he has a long term plan so lets see if it develops how he intends.
Tuppet vs. NM
Ronaldo fenomeno takes a break while Jose Altafini comes into play.
Match Preview
Hanappi and Burgnich having strong games. Defensive struggle so far. 0-0 at the half.
Gio was picked to finish 7th and is currently in 17th one of the bigger differences. Trap has struggled with a string of injuries (Monti and Khurtsilava currently out) and Lothar is suspended. The offense also seems heavily dependent on Eusebio and Bernard Vukas waith Traps 352. Vukas was injured and no one else was able to compensate - although Brian Laudrup has 2 goals in 1 start and 2 short substitutes. With Kempes, Gento and Branko Oblak only receiving sub minutes so far, there should be room for Trap to improve should he trust some of his substitutes in starting roles.
Team Spontaneous
I’m still surprised to see this side struggling so low. Perhaps Maradona needs another year to marinade his skills. Hitzfeld does keep trying different personnel to keep things fresh. Sammer and Jose Leandro Andrade is probably the strongest combo he has tried though. Otherwise Diego just has been able to get going. That’s okay though as his actual career was similar.
This is an interesting 352 vs 3412 match. However it looks like Spontaneous has to do with his star as Maradona is suspended for this match (cocaine is a helluva drug). Cantona takes his place.
Two sides that were aiming for higher that need to get their into their flow. Lippi organizes 2MU side while the Red’nigmas rely on Ernst Happel to guide their players.
Team 2Mu
Lippi has tweaked a little to find his best lineup but despite erroneous tweeter rumours Toninho Cerezo is not playing on the wing. The team has struggled mostly due to the defense. Jarni has regularly been the 2mu’s worst player on the pitch yet still starts. And in limited appearances Stam, Thiago Silva and Maicon have all failed to impress. But any team with van Basten, Gullit, Nedved and Baresi - all of whom are in good form - has a chance to make moves up the table.
Team RedEnigma
Pele comes back into the side here but Tostao has some fans wondering if he was actually the better fit to bring out the best in this side. Grzegorz Lato also found a new seat in the front row of the stands as Juan Joya has performed marginally better and stolen the starting outside right role. The most important players might be Billy Wright and Passarella however as when they don’t perform, this side tends to lose. Vogts has also returned from injury so maybe now is the time to make a push.
The aptly named Low Expectations side has struggled despite Sacchi’s best efforts. This is another team I have no idea why is underperforming. Solid players from Muller-Law-Platini attack to Nilton Santos and Djalma Santos as full backs around HIerro and Forster. One baffling thing here is Sastre and Haan starting in midfield instead of Johan Neeskens who has 6 substitute appearances and is first off off the bench. But Sastre is 25. Haan is 22 and slightly more developed than 21 year Neeskens so its possible Johan will move into the midfield next season for Maz. No one on Maz’ side has a 7 average match rating. Sastre is closest at 6.99 with Denis Law at 6.94
Team Overview
Team Harms
I’ve banged on about Tuppet being betting favorite but I’ve neglected to mention that Harms was the picked to finish 2nd. He sports a great front 3 of Arsenio Erico, Stanley Matthews and (little out of position) Zizinho as LF. Di Stefano anad Netto are in midfield. Di Stefano appropriately roams all over the pitch in offense and defense phases. Udo Lattek is a great manager for this collection of players and he is just getting his side playing well together.
Harms vs Maz
Preview
For the first 35 minutes Mazhar’s side pounded harms’ defense but was unable to break through. Nil-nil at the half.
Team Invicstatic
Ancelotti has formed an interesting side out of the Invictus Ecstatic picks. Puskas is obviously their icon. 8 goals and 4 MotM performances underline his importance. But the team is more. For me Bruno Conti is their key. Conti does a little bit of everything contributing dribbles, passes, movement even shots for offense and working hard as feck on defense. Luis Suarez Miramontes and Obdulio Varela are the stalwarts in this midfield with others making cameo appearances. Figueroa and Chumpitaz might just be the sexiest CB partnership at least in this analysts eyes. The Straw Hatters (I don’t know wtf the piracy is about haha) have become one of my favorite teams simply due to their inconsistent results. This team can beat anyone and lose to anyone
Team Moby Raees
As much as I want to see Zico I have to stick to the rules I made myself otherwise I would be forcing Zico onto the pitch.To be frank, AI Busby is winding me up as league dictator. He is not playing who I want him to. But whatever my and the owner’s complaints, Busby has still won the last two matches and Zico did get a game at least. Of their regular starters, Falcao, Blanchflower and Maradona’s favorite Brazilian Rivelinho are the top performing players for this side.
Ancelotti is jumping sharks here. Kurt Hamrin is at CF to accommodate Littbarski at RWF. Busby is also on the crazy sauce as he is not starting Zico.

@Edgar Allan Pillow@altodevil86
Much has been said about Cloughie’s tactics. The owners are apparently not happy with Lefter Küçükandonyadis starting so many matches even though it was they would picked the 23 year old to mentor and tutor the 20 year old Hristo Stoichkov. However the Full Kit Wanker fans don’t care what these billionaire spoiled owners with names like Pillow and Alto think. They know Lefter has 5 goals and 3 assists in 8 appearances. While Cruyff is still higher rated by Kicker and Guerin Sportivo, Lefter has been consistent at least. More than can be said for fan favorites Breitenigge who have underperformed.
@P-Nut0712
P-Nut has one of the youngest squads in the league. It might even be *the* youngest but I am not doing all that math to figure it out! He only has three players over the age of 21 - Zoltan Czibor , George Best and Bobby Moore. Unsurprisingly, those are his key players in every match. Pnut has definitely taken the long term view and we shall see if it pays off. More than anything Pnut has to hope I personally have the stamina to play enough seasons to see his side reach its potential. Otherwise George Best is having a flashback of playing for NI. PNUT has a few days before a match
Btw, why does @antohan have a mini-riot on his hands? Haynes, Rijkaard, Brehme and Desailly (not sure about him as half his name is also under the suspension category) are unhappy. Did Cruyff have an explosive post-match interview or discipline them or something?

This is a mini update to catch everything up to date after the team profile matches and I simmed a few more. I also checked the schedule and it seems we will start getting regular match days and sometimes two a week in Feb to make up the slightly slow pace. So games will come hard and fast at the end. Not sure how this will affect Champions league next year.
Some teams have made some moves and others have struggled. Tuppet and harms have moved up and solidified their pre-season status while Adjudicator has already won some punters a bag of cash at the betting. Spontaneous got his second win while mazhar’s Sacchi side is still oddly struggling to find a win despite some good performances that ended in draws.
Now that the sample size is bigger I notice the players scores are coming back to normal ranges and we aren’t seeing 7-3 and 5-5 scores anymore. Maybe the AI had to just re-adjust to the legends level. Either way the scoring is back down to 1 in 1 type levels rather than 2-3 in one.
Team of the Update: @Tuppet
The preseason favorite has been on run of superb form. Six wins on the bounce. Savicevic has made a few more appearances continuing his great form. Bican has steadily been finding his footing. And cameos from Nat Lofthouse and Jorginho have produced solid performances. Herrera has this side buzzing. Also its a full team effort. Tuppet doesn't even have anyone in the top 10 scorers.
Turnaround of the Update: Red’nigmas!! @RedTiger@Enigma_87
They have won their last 4 matches in a row and rocketed up the table from the bottom zone to the CL battling slots. Defeated 2mufc0, harms, anto and sjor - all teams in decent to great form.
Player of the Update: Pele!!
Since returning from injury Pele has been on fire for the Red’nigmas. Perhaps annoyed that I was glorifying Tostao, Pele has returned with a fury in the three matches he played. Robson and Bobek have also been playing fine but Pele has been the spark to the fire.
Coming Showdowns:
@Tuppet vs. Skizzonito
The pre-season favorite and the Autumn marauder are colliding soon with Tuppet having games in hand to take him above the @Skizzo@Joga Bonito combo. This match could determine the favorite going into January.
@mazhar13 vs @antohan
Mazhar has been playing better than the results show and a showdown with Anto on Dec.30th is a challenge for both sides. Cruyff’s dreamers have struggled after a strong start. They remain challenging for Europe but their position is more shaky. Mazhar needs a win to start moving this side in another direction.
@Igor Drefljak vs. @harms
Two sides with CL hopes going in different directions. Igor suffered two tough draws before a loss to simonhch while harms is only behind the red’nigmas and tuppet in form with 3 wins and a draw the last four outings.
And thanks again to everyone for the kind words, I appreciate that and it inspires me to keep going
Speaking of realism, it seems my AI Cruyff is hellbent on showing you how even at 2-0 up he was far from being out of the woods
It's exactly the same problem he always had: he simply couldn't shut up shop and play a game out, just kept attacking with gusto and, next you knew they were drawing or losing what by all accounts was three points in the bag.
Yups, all those tactical fouls when caught up the pitch I suppose. It is worrying to see my heatmaps and sweeper-keeper Carrizo with a 42% pass completion rate. Isn't that a big part of me conceding left, right and centre?
Great to see Spencer-Walter getting into the goals table, I must have finally scored a ton in some game, no?
I assume Haynes wants first team football. Sorry Johnny, you were only ever a backup for Walter. I knew at your age you wouldn't be happy if he was in good form, but apparently Enzo was a mentally frail second striker so needed insurance. You can go next Summer when we buy Johan.
I'm struggling down the bottom end of the table but my games are all quite close. Hopefully the more we progress and age I can start turning some of these games around. For now though I've just got to hope I can keep my team together.
I'm actually shocked at how poor both Law and Müller are performing for Sacchi. Perhaps the stats didn't capture their all-rounded game well enough, or they made Sacchi's system out to have an extreme lack of width. The heat map in the match against Harms is ridiculous. There's 0 width in our team! How can that be?!
I have a similar issue despite getting two of the top attacking full backs in the draft. I prioritised them assuming they would be (as they were) of huge significance to Cruyff. Nope, one hasn't even played yet and everything goes through the middle.

You're such a boss! Quality update again, especially now we're on the up
With Happels preferred formation of 4231 we've done well to have our first choice spine do so well. Passarella and Wright continue to be one of the best CB partnerships with consistent appearances in the top 5 for interceptions.

Its only Muller that is underperforming. Law has been your highest rated performer all season.I think he is your only player with over 7 average actually.
