Final: Italy vs England

Tempted to bring in Henderson for Mount and shore up the midfield 3/allow Phillips/Henderson to occupy the space in/around 10 to contend with Italy's midfield. I'd also be keen to see one of Sancho/Grealish start over Saka who I think could be "managed" more easily by the experienced Italians.

If England can get to the point of the game where both sides are looking to their bench for answers, England will win. Italy could end up controlling the game with an early goal. I think it'll be a cagey affair, and am already preparing for ET.

Penalties = Italy win.

I think it will be a horrible game to watch, a choppy stop-start affair with just the odd moment of attacking brilliance from both sides. Unless we make a change to our system we will cede the midfield but might be able to get at them down the flanks. With any luck the strength of our bench will win it.
 
Put Sterling on Emerson and tell him run at him at every opportunity. Maehle has been one of the stars of the tournament, and Sterling had him on toast every single time. He's creeping into player of the tournament territory for me.
 
What will be the reaction here if Italy gets a dodgy decision and retorts to playacting which they certainly will do if they will be winning? :D

Yep.

If you hate England and want them to lose just say it, stop pretending you're doing it because of a soft penalty. Like Italy are any fecking better.

Have people forgotten Immobile diving to try and win a pen and pretending he was hurt, only for Italy to score and him to pop right back up instantly and go celebrate.

Gonna go out on a limb and say probably a very similar reaction to fans from Italy, Spain, South Korea, Nigeria. Australia or Brazil would have?

Have a feeling 80%+ of people outside England will be supporting Italy. :lol::lol:
 
Think the tourno has exposed Mounts lack of quality as a ten a bit, having him shut down Jorginho will be right up his street though
 
I’m glad England doesn’t play Spain in the final. Their midfield, especially pressure, impresses me in the semi.

England anyway needs to step up their intensity. Sometimes England’s play reminds me of Uniteds play against lower playing teams; low speed possession play or just less bothersome passing of the ball around the pitch.

Sometimes I wonder if this kind of play (above
mentioned problem) is a result of 4-2-3-1 when teams lack world class creativity in the double pivot (Rice/Philips or McT/Fred).
 
Two best teams made it to the final. I hope the quality is kept up as it's been one of the best Euro's I can remember in terms of excitement.

Gamewise I think Italy is a better match up for England than Spain would've been. We should have a fair bit of posession. Will be interesting to see who starts in the front 3 with Kane and Sterling (I genuinely think Grealish might be the best pick this time but Gareth probably won't). One thing that England will have going for them is more of a set piece threat than they showed against a tall and well drilled Danish side. Apart from the 2 centre backs they aren't the tallest so I can see us targeting them here. Aside from that it should be a tight game. Probably 60/40 in favour of England with home advantage but wouldn't be surprised to see Italy take it. If it goes to penalties I aint watching.

Also :lol: at the state of the football forum at the minute .... "biggest cheats", "2 balls", "lasers" ....some of you might need your blood pressure checking judging by the amount of salt flying around today.

We're not all saying that England fan's are going to send death threats to the referee after spending most of the morning talking about how England had cheated Denmark out of winning

And I only answered the guy's question what will the reaction be if Italy win through some shenanigans like that. Judging by past, some death threats will be sent to the ref. All hypothetical if it actually happens. What's wrong with you? Relax.

Are the obligatory international death threats just for penalties or red cards as well? What about a yellow that should have been a red? Or a throw in given the wrong way?

If Italy win from a penalty dive we'll all be gutted and angry, but fairs fair after last night we won't be able to really complain, and we'll know that.

I don't know I'm not English but from what I remember it was for a red card, disallowed goal and a ghost goal in the past.

Shall we say that only Italians bribe referees and send them severed horse's heads?

What about, I'm guessing, Poland? Maybe Czechia or Slovakia? Any specialties there?
