FBI says it has no answers for "Mystery drones flying over New Jersey"

Going by eye witnesses which include pilots and military personnel.
Who are, as we have seen, not necessarily experts at identifying objects at a distance, at night. How many times have we seen pilots exclaiming that something is completely unexplainable and actively breaking the laws of physics, only for it to turn out to provably have been a commercial jet?

Eyewitnesses arent reliable, military or civilian.

Are they doing some kind of war game training?

In civilian airspace? Why?

I'd have thought the real question would be why do people leap to such extreme dramatic possibilities when the most likely explanations for drones, planes and helicopters displaying standard flying light is in fact planes, helicopters and perfect legitimate and normal drones.

So why did the government say they have no idea? Why are drones getting in the way of FAA regulated traffic, causing airports to be shut down and entering restricted airspace (per the navy while DoD was denying it). Why is the FBI still involved? How come congress are receiving classified briefings? Why are they currently redeploying two state of the art drone detecting systems to New Jersey?

What's up with this:
Representatives from the federal agencies investigating the sightings have briefed local officials behind closed doors, stating the possible drones sometimes appear to fly in a coordinated pattern and can remain in flight for up to six hours, according to Montvale, New Jersey, Mayor Mike Ghassali.

So why did the government say they have no idea?
Why would the government know (or want to know) what random, perfectly explainable drones, planes and helicopters are doing? I think they have better things to be doing.
Why are drones getting in the way of FAA regulated traffic, causing airports to be shut down and entering restricted airspace
Because numpties with drones keep doing stupid shit.

Because of the hysteria I'd guess. My favorite so far is that senator reporting a star constellation, although to be fair at least stars don't carry standard navigating lights.

4 agencies now, but conspiracy theories, moronic or just outright ignorant takes from people who just refuse to believe anything they don't like the answer to still dominate social media and chatrooms. The replies to that post alone are proof of that.

It's truly sad the level of distrust for the media and government. I've seen so many posts across Facebook & Twitter saying that will change under Trump because he brings transparency and honesty to the government and will make sure the press are held to higher standards.

A couple of days ago in replies to a post saying just that, someone posted a picture of Trump at his hurricane Sharpie interview and people replied that was fake news and made with AI. It's frightening just how fecking dumb a decent size of the worlds population really is.

Those agencies not saying anything was taken as proof that something nefarious was going on, but those same agencies saying nothing is going on will  also be taken as evidence that something nefarious is going on. Conspiracy theories aren't based on logic, so both evidence and absence of evidence are equally damming.

You're acting like that distrust hasn't been earned over the decades (see the Church Committee, for example). I certainly wouldn't accept anything from those people at face value.

This article leaves me wondering if there's a low bar to be deemed an 'expert' by the Irish media.

Alien invasion of Earth could be launched from portal in Athlone, expert says

Ireland could be at the forefront of a future extraterrestrial invasion - because there is evidence to suggest a portal used by aliens to enter and exit Earth is located in the midlands between Athlone and Slane, says Carl Nally of UFO and Paranormal Research Ireland (UPRI)

First I heard of 'drone sightings' was in the USAF bases in the UK. Lakenheath. Back in November.

An interesting post on reddit from someone last week who lived locally, said that some service personal from Lakenheath were making reference to testing and "red" and "blue" teams. Suggestions that it was some kind of drone/anti-drone system testing.

America's adversaries have clearly gone in to drones in a big way. If this stuff is in development and classified then obviously they're not going to be shouting about it. Nor would anyone necessarily be read into it.

It'll mostly be people mis-identifying planes.

It doesn't help that the government says it can't track where they come from or are going. Nor that base commanders are telling elected officials that they have seen them around military bases too. If this is nothing, the government has royally fecked up their communication strategy.

A leading contractor CEO was on ABC and said that all legally operated drones broadcast an ID that is easily picked up by apps that can be downloaded to your phone. These IDs are very easy to trace to their source. Any drone not broadcasting that is flying illegally. The idea that they can't be traced is absurd.

Even their statements say that while the majority of sightings are nonsense, which one would expect, there are reports about drone activity that are both credible and of concern too:

There’s been a “slight overreaction” to the reports, the FBI official said. Still, “we can’t ignore the sightings that have been there, and we are concerned about those just as much as anybody else is,” the official added.

An official with the Department of Defense, however, was less confident about the nature of the sightings.

“We don’t know if it’s malicious, if it is criminal. But I will tell you that it is – it is irresponsible,” the official said. “Here on the military side, we are just as frustrated with the irresponsible nature of this activity.”

Yeah it's obviously military drone tests and I doubt it's even about classified tech as most of it is in the media already. I'd expect they have a standard policy not to disclose drills unless necessary.

The only concern I'd have is it does potentially signify that they see a credible threat and these drills may have been in response to intelligence.

Obviously the Government is full of sht sometimes but when you start talking flat earth theory and school shootings are staged and in this case we are being attacked by UFO's or its a Government drone program then you have fallen off the edge. The RW Maga bat shits are stirring all this up. I heard some say that it's the LWs secret drone program to attack Trump once he's in office. With a straight face! I wonder if they even know what reality is anymore or do they spend all day looking for hidden cameras in their houses and put cork screws up their arse before bed so they dont get Alien probed.

I'm no expert, but aren't those just clearly planes?
Certainly looks like aircraft departures from an airport below the camera's horizon line for me. I can clearly see them following different standard departures, and they're keeping the landing lights on after takeoff since they are below tenthousand feet and within ten NM of an airport. The location mentioned is Florham Park, wanna guess what's right next to that area?

And that's nothing to say about the rest of the area, which is just crammed with an incredible density of airports, every green and blue marker on this map plus tons of small private fields which aren't even marked:

So it is just a bunch of hysterical people? Not the Russians and Chinese spying on us?

I‘m so relieved.

The moment my youthful interest in UFOs died is when I read "the flying saucerers' by leading UFO "expert" Arthur Shuttlewood, a mad book where he claimed stars were living beings because of how they jumped around the sky when he looked at them. Madness or rationality, that's the choice.

There absolutely is!

Last year one of our main tv networks brought in a panel of experts to discuss a large hole found on a Dublin beach. They determined that it was a meteor or other such cosmic event.

Until videos emerged on social media of two local lads digging it with green plastic shovels over the previous weekend.

Eh, there's certainly drones being used for espionage, I don't think anybody has claimed anything different. But those won't be flying around with regulation illumination switched on.

But this particular video is showing regular air traffic, and so are almost all of the other images and videos we keep seeing. Of course there also plenty of drones up for commercial, state agency and private use, people have been flying them for years. And now you've got a bunch of idiots going at it extra hard for shits and giggles or to make their own video for their ten seconds of fame.

I'm mostly surprised that there's no one with a good camera and zoom lens hasn't taken a photo or video.

Indeed.

Easy to maybe overthink these things but noting the imminent change in the US administration, demonstrating their own drone capability might be seen as useful, especially if the tech is new and would cause a problem for your adversaries.
