Fantasy Premier League 20/21

Is it crazy to save a transfer and have 10 players (including Son) rather than bringing Auba in for Salah?

I just have a feeling Auba will be a let down and I'll be wanted to take him out straight away too.

Definitely not crazy. Most people won't have 10 players and it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Auba is benched or disappoints.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking though I expect Son won't be fit so I'll probably just have 9 if I save the transfer.

I'll probably just bring him in anyway as other options aren't great and I won't be taking a hit to make the transfer.

It's not crazy no. He's very flakey and I would only bring him in on a free hit.

Salah to Auba last min punt for a hit?

I think Salah will not get rotated that much in the league. Thus I think it might be stupid to sell him.

Auba is just a one week punt then he is sold. Thus if other players get injured I am fecked with extra hits.

I feel my team is already filled with too much shit. Going to be 1 hit per week average in the near future potentially to sort it out.

What exactly is left to save it for though?
Are you the guy who constantly uses "most" to generalise. Most people have this player that player etc

People may be able to get to 7-9 players, but it won't be the ideal ones necessarily.
7 v 11 is a big difference too. 8 points difference before those 4 actually do anything.

A 20-30 point difference is fairly significant in tight super leagues.

Plus it depends whether you've built your team for continued strength week 30 on, or just to cover this week.
A lot of us don't want Dallas, Dunk, Cresswell, Auba, Bale etc long term.
I am that guy

It depends if you have WC. If you do, there's no point free hit this week.

The reason I'm against it is the main players your need this week are:

Brighton defender
Dallas
Raphinha
Kane

Then if you have a few like Bamford, Antonio, Martinez... You're already covered.

If you've saved two free transfers, you can easily get a team like this without free hit, then use the chip on a week with better fixtures.

But as I said, I have WC so this easily works for me, might be different for you.

I'm in the same situation as you. I still have my wildcard so I'm just going to take the punt. I'll give him a few weeks too as he has Sheffield United and Fulham in GW31/32.

Yep. No chance I would've played FH if I had a WC but of course I don't.

No wildcard for me so I really need to plan.

Guys I want for the future are Bruno, Shaw, Mendy, TAA?/Wolves defender, Maddison/Barnes, DCL, Grealish.

No idea how to afford them all to be fair. Probably no TAA and maybe sell Salah.

I really want to cover Chelsea defensive side, but Mendy may not be worth a -4 and Rudiger etc are so dull in attack I think.
Add potential defensive rotation around CL and it is not a safe bet anymore.

I still have 1 transfer left but I genuinely don't have anyone worth risking in. Better to carry on right and just keep 9 players for this week right?

Auba punt can be worth it, but since I have my own doubts about him starting it is probably not worth it.

After his performance last night he really deserves to be benched.

Trossard punt instead and he stays in my team too.

I hope Brighton can find some form or I am fecked haha cause with City rotation he is going to be in my team most weeks.

This. It's a no brainer using it.

It means nothing that teams can field 8-9 players when those players aren't very good. Atleast with a free hit you can bring the likes of Auba and Bale while people who don't will field the likes of Lingard, Soucek, Raphina etc..

Not sure I get the logic of it not being a good move to have a FH this week if you have a WC?
I have WC left, and i'm not saddled with players I don't want beyond tonight.

My cup final opponent used his wildcard as expected, and we've got exceptionally similar teams.

2 differences

He has Meslier and Lascelles and I have Sanchez and Auba.

Really need his two boys to concede, to say the least!! (Even though I have Dallas)
And obviously for Auba to not be in wet blanket mode.

Perfect scenario is his two lads 2 point it, my keeper cleanies, and then it's won by Saturday night.

Yeah I don't understand using wildcard this week either. Most of the 'top' players this GW are not really worth keeping long term.

I think he meant having the wildcard left still, rather than using it this week.

A wildcard this week is the worst option as you'd have to lose quite a few players you'd prefer to keep, as you can only have 4 on the bench unused.
Plus you wouldn't be able to react to players who have doubles coming up beyond Tottenha,m

Same, if anything it's even more reason to FH. Plus we haven't been stuck with players we don't really want for the past few weeks because they play this. I ended up with only 4 that would have played. I'll probably have 2 City and 1 Spurs on wildcard, so not going to be difficult to navigate GW33 at all.

This was my strategy.

I saw that the blank had no real stand out fixtures, like a City Vs Newcastle situation. The only real "premium" team playing is Spurs. Maybe Leeds as well.

I know I say "most people" and generalise but I assume many people had some combination of the below:

Kane, Son, Martinez, Dallas, Bamford, Raphinha, Antonio and Watkins.

If you look at GW30, the three EASILY stand out fixtures belong to Leeds, Spurs and Chelsea.

As Spurs and Leeds play GW29 and then have the best fixtures GW30, it made sense to load up on them leading into 29.

I made sure I had Son, Kane, Bamford and Dallas (and Struijk unfortunately). I just needed to ensure I had a few extra players plus two transfers. So in my case, Martinez, Traore and Antonio were already in my team. I reckon a lot of people have Martinez and Antonio or Watkins.

That's most of the dangerous GW29 players covered and you're in a good place for GW30 due to the load up on Spurs and Leeds.

After GW30, drop Villa and Leeds as their fixtures turn. The new must have players will be from Chelsea, Wolves and Liverpool. Perfect time to wild card into a new template to see out the season.

Then if I had free hit, I'll play it most likely GW33 as I want Spurs and City coverage but don't want that much value on the bench that week. Also, because I'm using WC on GW31, I want to have bench fodder.

I hope that makes sense. I bet it doesn't

Bamford goal and Lookman assist is good for me. Meslier clean sheet wiped out though, so I'll be hoping Martinez doesn't keep a clean sheet on Sunday.

Selling Bamford backfires. His ownership is so annoying though.

Just like with Bruno I sold him due to the fixtures, but it is not really working.

You'll have to hide behind the couch a fair bit. I know Leeds haven't scored recently but watching the games, it's not because they were playing shit, they were just missing chances. This team can score against anyone and slightly fixture proof. You probably want Bam back in for the Sheff game at least.

I can't justify him back with City next though :(. Kane or Bruno are better captains too I think.

Kane injury could change things haha then I bring him back. Or another injury to my strikers.

Who are you strikers? Surely Bamford is more of an enabler? So I assume something like Bamford, Kane and one other?

Watkins and Antonio. I have had Watkins for ages waiting for extra double gameweeks that never come.

Antonio could go I guess. He has been shit since I bought him apart from when benched against City and Spurs haha.
