Falcao

Fergie's right hand man has spoken. Tell me Steve, did he himself tell you those four, especially Rooney would be gone?

Mere conjecture on my part, and how could I possibly deprive Mike Phelan of the "right hand man" role???

You do love to get involved don't you? Strange one.

Why I am the one confused? What you have said makes no sense at all and the thread is about Falcao, I'm not interested in debating a worthless point with you.

If and it's a massive if ,he was to come here ,for me the most likely exit would be Rooney rather than Hernandez.

What would you think if we were to loose/sell one of Hernandez/ Rooney for Falcao?

I wouldn't be too pleased, I haven't seen too of Falcao but from what I know, I don't see how an untested player (as far as the EPL goes) and someone who 4/5 years ago certainly wasn't on the top 10 radar who is already 27 would represent good business. SAF recently said about now HAVING that maturity upfront, would seem strange to me to make the nucleus older?

What? It was pretty clear you were confused, since you then went on to explain where you'd made your mistake.

I just thought it was funny. My apologies for not realising that the transfer forum is serious business.

As you were.

 It's clear only to you then, as I wasn't confused, I realised what I had done, I had mistakenly mis-read what Cina wrote, meaning I wasn't confused, I figured it out all by myself.

And no, its fine, apology accepted. I know there are people like you who search out for arguments to jump into...

I think you meant "have only ever been", in which case, why did you say "are"?

I'm sure this is sarcasm.

Which bit confused you? Seemed straight forward to me

And in presuming you meant 'are', I thought you were claiming that our current strikeforce are the best in Europe, hence I replied to that.

You wrote:

I mistook well for 'we', and presumed you meant 'are' in place of all, reading we are the best strike forces in Europe so you didn't really have to branch out any further, which is why I replied to it

Ok, you misread, nothing more to see here, carry on.

I meant you were confused initially.

Jesus, the transfer forum really is serious business.

Back to the general for me.

I'm with you on this one ,don't no much about him. And i still feel Hernandez as a lot more to offer.

In Kyle's voice: Really?!

Somebody of such talent and attacking ability is obviously always welcome at Manchester United but realistically, this is just nonsense - I mean, City maybe but United?

What are Marca like historically with transfers? At a guess, I'd say terrible.

Balague has apparently confirmed that we HAVE put a down payment for Falcao.

Seriously though if he was to ever come good now is the time.

Falcao at United

I'm laughing at opposition defenses already and he hasn't and won't sign for us.

Well as said earlier in the thread, Ballague was on the money with the De Gea deal. Falcao and De Gea share the same agents too. RVP, Rooney and Falcao together

I mean if Sir Alex see's this as a way of keeping the gap open with City then fair enough but surely, surely...no...what the's point, it's been years and we just don't sign that type of player anymore.

So, shit is going for real?

I love Chicha, but Falcao would be a great improvement. And although I don't believe it will happen, just imagine RVP-Rooney-Falcao upfront. The defenses will be terrified.

feck the wingers. Lets go all out.

RVP------Falcao

Rooney

Kagawa--------Cleverley

Carrick

Evra-----Rio-----Vidic-------Rafael

De Gea

He must have a solid contact if he's going so far to say we've even paid an advance, it's one thing to make up a story but thats almost saying its a done deal. He will look like a complete idiot if this doesn't go through.

From what I've seen of Falcao, he seems to thrive on crosses into the box. Should we sign him, it'll mean we'll have to scrap our wing-play altogether, which isn't to his strengths.

This is what Ballague has to say on twitter...

After @soccerex and #4Amigos tonight, let's deal with Falcao/MU. But they HAVE paid an advance as they did with de Gea

So I suppose the question is that even if he does talk a lot of shit what's his record like with transfers?

Well that ends this rumour then.

He said the same about De Gea to be fair.

But yeah, worth taking anything he says with a pinch of salt...

If I'm the Glazers, there's no way I'd be releasing £55m to Ferguson to spend on another striker. No chance.

Sounds like either Athletico or Falcao's camp are trying to start a bidding war, name dropping United like all players do.

This is the best part of the Glazers, that they don't interfere with SAF plans. Would you have preferred if they wouldn't give SAF funds to buy a striker, but they would have given if he wants to improve midfield. That is how Abramovich does the business.

I would like much more if we spend the money to improve our midfield rather than buying yet another striker. But I think that the decision should be of SAF, not that of Glazers or fans.

Don't know why people think its credible because otherwise he will be made to look like a fool, he has been made in the past to look like a fool plenty of times, for people to now stand up and notice? He's no good.

I don't understand why so many dislike Balague. He's been right a few times as well you know, he wouldn't just say stuff like that with us regarding Falcao.

Can we get excited about this yet?

Rooney replacing Scholes in midfield is something I thought could eventually happen. I wonder if that is the plan.

If we do get Falcao, and having him partner RVP, would be pointless if we have shit wingers and a poor midfield.

I sincerely hope we sort out our weak areas out first.

If Falcao indeed signs I really hope that is the plan. Selling Rooney and in progress making ourselves weaker again makes no sense to me. But I could definitely see us signing another striker with Rooney moving back and one, maybe two of our attacking players being moved on.

Out: Nani
In: Falcao

ST: RVP, Falcao, Hernandez
Wingers: Valencia, Welbeck, Young, Zaha
AM/CM: Kagawa, Rooney, Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson, Giggs, Jones (Fletcher)

We would still need a new CM mind.

The questions is whether Rooney would be disciplined enough to play in a midfield two beside Carrick. Zaha (I think he'll be star from the start), Welbeck and RVP behind Falcao.

Or would want to? I mean I thought his favoured position was up front...

Unless Falcao in means Rooney out (or Rooney becoming a permanent CM), this transfer would be slightly strange.

On one hand we'd be signing one of the best strikers in world football and pairing him with RVP. On the other, that kind of money could be best spent elsewhere on improving other areas of the squad which must be improved if we're to get the best out of our strikers.

If RVP, one of the very best in the world at creating his own chances, can go 10 games without a goal in a team that offers little quality service, then imagine how long someone like Falcao could go without scoring in that same team. IMO the biggest issue to deal with is the style of play which is constricting and awkward, then the next issue is wingers (if we revert back to using them regularly) which I think can only be improved by personnel.

If this is true then I would expect we have other deals lined up too otherwise it would just make no sense and it hints that Fergie thinks all the teams problems can be solved with better strikers.
