Monaco do not have a world class manager, where is the certainty they will be in Europe in the 2014/15 season? I totally understand players that join teams to be parts of new projects rather than an already established one, but nothing aboput Monaco says success and stability like Chelsea/City/PSG and a dozen other top clubs, without sugar daddies have.

These scenarios aren't applicable. They are very very rare in football. I can't even think of an example off the top of my head.

30k more per week is 1,5 million more per year. That's a lot. I would assume various bonuses would be higher as well and when it's time to sign another contract the prospect of getting more money would also be exponentially higher.

We're not saying that there isn't a difference at all. We're telling you that in both cases it's all to do with the money. Without the money these scenarios wouldn't exist.

No but if a player really wanted to join a different top team they would, like RVP, doesn't that transfer say anything?

He wanted to join United, because they are successful, decorated and well liked. He didn't think oh City or Chelsea will give me x amount extra because he knew that he wouldn't be short of a few quid wherever he went, so he joined the club he wanted to. A lot more players do this than you think.

Tbf if you take the football aspect out of it and just consider football as a means of making a living then going to somewhere like Monaco would be a good choice. They have low crime rates, tax free and you basically have to be a multi multi millionaire to live there.

£1.4m for a shitty apartment.

well yeah, if you take that out of it, but generally footballers want to be remembered by winning things, and trophies. You can have a villa there and play somewhere else surely?

That's what you get when you sign your rights away. I still believe that he would have joined Monaco. You can't say no to that kind of money.

The case with most players is definitely that they get paid more. Otherwise you wouldn't see the Russian league progressing like it is or Galatasaray being able to snap up Sneijder and Drogba.

Not sure about the ins and outs of where Wes was offered, but Drogba was 34, he wasnt exactly going to get offers from the highest clubs anymore anyway.

Most footballers do, but then you can't begrudge the players who don't share the same sentiment. Football is a short lived career and if you have the chance to make a Shit load of money and live in a really nice high class city then why not?

As fans it's easy for us to say yeah go to this club and we'll respect you as a footballerbut then we have to respect the players who have different ambitions and motivations in life. They didn't grow up looking at football the same way we do, to some it's just a career isn't it.

He could go back to France for a lower paycheck. Instead he went to China for a massive one and then to Galatasaray for a similar one that he had a Chelsea.

Ok lets put this scenrario across.

You are a player who supports United, really wants to play for United, and loves who and what they are. They offer you 50k a week.

Chelsea offer you 80k a week, and you instantly would join them because of the extra 30k?

I understand players moving to financially stable clubs because of the money, but to say 'all the players that joined Chelsea post 2003 joining purely for the money' is total delusion.

Imagine you are working for a company you love, and a rival company offers you a pay increase of 30p, are you going to go to them because of the extra 30p? Because lets face it, to a footballer thats the equivalent or possible less when comparing it to a basic job these days.

Players are set for life whether they join Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Monaco, Ateletico, Spurs, City, or any club in the top league in the top countries, so why wouldnt they join the club they actually want to join? Answer now seems to be agents.

If you cant understand the difference between players joining Monaco like Falcao has and players joining Chelsea in 2003/2004 then theres something wrong with you.

You are really bad at math.

So, apparently the primary school that Falcao attended have produced documents revealing him to be two years older than he actually claims. 29 rather than 27. Bit of a strange one. He won the 2005 South American Youth Championships, which is Under-20, but he could've been 21. Also, doubt Monaco would be too pleased, having splashed the cash on him only to find out he's older than first thought.
His father denies it, blaming clerical errors. Honestly, I'd be surprised if there was any truth to the allegations, but thought I'd share anyway.
