Falcao

Let me put it like this - Falcao playing for Chelsea would scare me. So that alone would be a good reason to sign him

Manchester United have made the huge steps in the race to land Radamel Falcao in the summer according to Marca.

The 27 year old is one of the hottest properties in world football with Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid all chasing his signature.

However Marca says United are now in pole position to land him as reports in the Spanish newspaper say "a down payment has reportedly been made" and that Falcao is "just a step away from United".

Marca add that the sequence of events is nothing new because "the same thing happened two seasons ago when David de Gea left the Vicente Calderón to become a Red Devil".

De Gea moved to Old Trafford for around £17m (€20m) while Falcao is expected to cost United around £42m (€50m).

Falcao has scored 22 goals in La Liga this season and sits third behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the scoring charts.

They sold us De Gea remember. This is definitely happening.

Apparently we've negotiated with Mister Potato and Casillero Del Diablo to put up the money for Falcao and keep him supplied with crisps and booze in lieu of wages.

Even if Rooney were too left Falcao would still be the wrong player to replace him with, we'd need someone more creative because we have van Persie who can finish (well not the last couple of months admittedly) anyway. Falcao would really be the most pointless transfer we could make now. Let's buy Lewandowski as well when we're at it.

This story could well be a decoy put out by Fergie so that he can nab Lewandowski and another target or two without Mancini catching wind of it and then just signing whoever we are after like the daft muppet always does and like the Russian mafia at Chelsea will do also. A bit like the persistant Gaitan rumours of last year before Fergie went for Hazard and Moura instead as the sumemr transfer window opened before those deals were hijacked at the last minute!!!

Do you know people talking about sell Rooney - buy Falcao have to realize that if Rooney was at a 3-4th placed team he too would be their main man and the guy who all the play goes through. He wuld shine every game because the team would be set up for him to shine. As it is he's one of several stars at United and he still manages to excel. I'm not saying Falcao isn't a truly terrific player but I wouldn't swap him for Rooney and with them both at the same age it makes feck all sense anyway.

I initially laughed, then I started to feel this was more likely than us buying a CM, then I came here and saw people not wanting him at United and laughed some more, a merry time was had by me.

This 100%

Sacrificing Rooney for Falcoa would be ludicrous! Thankfully SAF would never do this and Rooney will be with us for years to come. However RVP and Falcoa with Rooney behind

I'm glad Sir Alex is in charge and not some people on here, people have short memories when it comes to Rooney on this site.

feck the wingers. Lets go all out.

RVP------Falcao

Rooney

Kagawa--------Cleverley

Carrick

Evra-----Rio-----Vidic-------Rafael

De Gea

I don't think this rumour is true at all. However, should it happen, then I think it is more the case of a "special player" becoming available - like RvP.

This transfer doesn't make sense whatsoever, which is why I believe it might happen. Feels like Fergie has a tendency to buy players for positions we think we're stacked in.

We just need another striker don't we?

"Sense" would mean we buy a couple of central midfielders, which hopefully happens this summer.

Let's be serious, if SAF wants a striker then surely Lewandowski is the candidate.

I'd be delighted if we signed Modric as the primary target AND also signed Lewandowski too. I do feel that there are strong possibilities that Anderson, Nani, Rooney and Chicharito could be heading out of OT although I'd hate for Chicharito to go.

Fergie's right hand man has spoken. Tell me Steve, did he himself tell you those four, especially Rooney would be gone?

Talk bollocks are discussing it ,putting two and two together and coming up with five.

Maybe Sir Alex sees the natural midfielder in Falcao

Now the links are involving a swap deal with hernandez & cash for Falcao?

Hernandez has been linked with Atlético for a while now tbh... So its easy to see why the papers are jumping to conclusions now the Falcao rumours are garnering pace. I love our Little Pea though. I really wouldn't like to see him leave. And in truth I don't even think 1% of these tabloid swap deals ever happen.

Even Steve Bruce getting caught up in the rumours.

Steve Bruce believes Wayne Rooney would still have a future at Manchester United if the Premier League leaders bought Radamel Falcao in the summer.

Sir Alex Ferguson has been heavily linked with a move for the Atlético Madrid striker in recent days, with some reports claiming the Colombian had already agreed a deal to move to Old Trafford.

With increasing speculation surrounding Falcao, Rooney’s future appears in doubt amid reports the England international could join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

However Bruce, who won three titles at United in the 1990s, reckons Rooney would still have a key role to play at the 19-time English champions even if Falcao did complete a big-money move.

“I wouldn’t say [signing Falcao] was the end for Wayne Rooney,” Bruce told talkSPORT.
“People keep stirring it up and Sir Alex Ferguson keeps playing it down. I’m sure Wayne Rooney still has a big part to play.

“You wouldn’t be surprised to see Manchester United sign [Falcao] because their greatest strength is the way they keep improving [the squad].”

Falcao has scored 22 goals in 27 La Liga appearances this season, while Rooney has managed a rather more modest 12 league strikes.

Yeah read that. £27m + Hernandez = Falcao.

I love Hernandez, but feck me, a quartet of Welbeck, Rooney, Van Persie, and Falcao..would there be a better four in the world, let alone Europe?

Rooney----------Welbeck

Carrick

Evra-----Jones-----Evans-------Rafael

De Gea

Better.

Well all the best strike forces are in Europe so you didn't really have to branch out any further.

I presume you meant 'are', if so, I would agree, but we aren't unparalleled, there are equal forces up front, you can't say a front line of
RVP-Rooney-Hernandez trounces over Benz-Cronaldo-Higuain...

I get your point, but if it was Falcao-Rooney-RVP, it would be unparalleled.

Surely Fergie couldn't go full retard, could he?

What are you on about? What point did I make in that? And obviously I meant "are" seeing as I said "are".

The same place all the other rumours come from. And no, it's complete bollocks.

It seems to stem from the fact that Mendes is his agent.

Atletico only own less than half of the player, as more than half of the money to buy him was provided by a third party company, of which seemingly Mendes holds a stake. The suggestion is that they will have a very big say in where he goes.

What are you on about?

Which bit confused you? Seemed straight forward to me

What point did I make in that? And obviously I meant "are" seeing as I said "are".

And in presuming you meant 'are', I thought you were claiming that our current strikeforce are the best in Europe, hence I replied to that.

I mistook well for 'we', and presumed you meant 'are' in place of all, reading we are the best strike forces in Europe so you didn't really have to branch out any further, which is why I replied to it
