He will cost Barca considerably less than Ronaldo cost Real Madrid, that's for sure.

Flashy strikers/wingers always cost more than their less assuming team-mates in central midfield. I know you think Fabregas is one of the world's best players but his reputation outside Arsenal/PL is nothing like as high as you think, if for no other reason than he can't even get his game for Spain.

I would say that Fabregas will cost them about 20-30% more than Real paid for Alonso. If that.

Yup. He's also below Rooney, Villa, Kaka and Ribery. Barcelona have shown their hand in this, they have bid 29mil they will maybe go up 5 mill more or throw a player in.

He's on the same level as those players. And Barca's hand seem to be a busted flush.
 
Easily worth £50 million in todays market. The only player I can see out there who could replace Scholes.

Seriously £30 million for a player of his talent and age who may in the future be the replacement for Xavi is a joke. Wenger knew when Fabregas left it'd be for top dollar only can't see it happening for any less than £45 million.

Not saying he's a bad player, but if Rooney is supposedly worth 95 million yet Fabregas is worth 29 million according to Barca. Then they are not in the same valuation area. If Ribery is supposedly worth 60 mil and Kaka is worth 29 mil, they are not in the same area valution wise. If Kaka is worth, tell you what you get where I'm going with this.

I agree they'd have a great deal, I can see him going for 40 (once you include another player in the mix) but he doesn't generate the same fame and shirt sales as the other group, he's in the third tier.

Not necessarily, if they get Yaya as part of the deal and considering they're favourites for Gourcuff. I personally would think they'd be stronger.
 
It's quite funny being a spectator for once. Great timing as well, what with Fabregas being far away from Arsenal surrounded by vicious Spanish reporters who will keep bugging him until he says something stupid. We've seen it all before.

Arsenal have officially rejected Barca's bid.

"Yesterday evening we received an offer from Barcelona for Cesc Fabregas.

"In response, we immediately and resolutely told them once again we have no intention of selling our captain."

Can't see the Gooners selling unless a bid for £50m+ comes in. Think they want Fabregas to stay for another year and then sell him. By then Ramsay would have recovered from his horrific injury and they will have a ready made replacement in place.

That's not guaranteed at all.

I can see why they would want to hang onto Fabregas as long as possible but that goes without saying really. He's a fecking brilliant player after all.
 
I'm not sure Arsenal can really go back on that statement now, they may have to wait until next summer to sell him after all.

Obviously Ramsay may struggle to recover in the similar vein to Eduardo. But he's their best shot at replacing Fabregas in a year's time and not Wilshere just yet.
 
I don't think Wilshire or Ramsey have ever looked like a Fabregas-replacement, they both tend to dribble and shoot a lot more, they've never shown anything like Fabregas' ability to run games. They're creative but they don't look like they dictate the play.

My thoughts exactly. He has been the best midfielder in the league this season, better than Lampard in my view. Barcelona are taking the piss, £30m for one of the best five midfielders in the world? I'd tell them to feck off as well. He's worth twice that money easily considering he has at least 10 years of his career ahead of him and four years on his contract left - not too mention the current climate in the market where players like Milner are valued at £30m and Jerome fecking Boateng gets wages of £85,000 a week!

Wilshere probably isn't (though in one Youth cup game last season he did run the CM) - but Ramsay certainly is, though he's not as precocious as Cesc.
 
Anybody know when Barca will be investigated for tapping Fabregas up? Oh, wait, they're allowed to spout shit in the media twice a week for a year about wanting a player...
 
Nah I dunno, I reckon Ramsay's more Iniesta than Xavi. Relying on Ramsay to take on the same role doesn't seem wise, he might have more to his repetoire but you'll need to be spreading the responsiblity of play-dictating around a bit more. Fabregas can do it all on his own, not sure Ramsay's the same.
