Fabregas wants to go to Barcelona

You know, I once had respect for Barcelona. That's no longer the case, they are a bunch of classless cnuts who should just keep their fecking mouths shut on this matter.

He's right though, Fabregas will be a Barcelona player at some point. Even if he has to run his contract down to nothing, it's what he and Barcelona want. When a player genuinely wants to move to a club there is little can be done. Like Ronaldo with Madrid (his dream), Cesc with Barca (his home).

Xavi in disgraceful stating the obvious shocker...

Really bemuses me that United fans are getting so wound up about all of this.

Most odd.

I don't know about the rest, but I'm wound up by these 2 spanish teams and their transfer 'tactics' in general. Particularly because of what Madrid did to us with Ronaldo. So it doesn't matter if Fabregas is from Arsenal or Hull City, I would still be annoyed by it.

I think as football fans people have a right to be annoyed by antics like this, we were on the receiving end of it over the last few summers and it's not exactly strange that people might empathise. Yes it'd be good/funny for us if Arsenal lost Fabregas, but all the shit coming from Barca just doesn't sit right.

It does seem odd that anything related to Barcelona brings up some strong commentary. Wonder why....

Because everyone is bitter, I guess?

I sincerely hope Mourinho's Madrid fecking trounce them.

I sincerely hope Mourinho's Madrid dont win a thing.. Barcelona, Arsenal and Cesc are all cnuts but Madrid are the worst of the bunch.

atleast cesc was born in barcelona and has every right go back to his roots unlike the ronaldo saga.. Its not like arsenal are gonna win anything anyway, he has no reason to stay with shower of shit like Arse.

Bold = totally irrelevant.

Yeah the way in which we went after Berbatov wound me up too. Also because I didn't want him in first place.

We might have acted inappropriately with the Berbatov/Hargreaves transfer, but no way did we show the arrogance that these spanish clubs have constantly potrayed; You did not see SAF or any of the players giving comments acting like Berba was already our player even before he actually signed.

It is relevent, if I was player who is about to peak, I want to be winning trophies, Arsenal dont look like they will.

He must be looking at players like messi and co who he played along with at barca and they've won everything there is to win whilst Cesc has nothing to show for all his years at Arsenal..

Arsenal are lightweight with or without fabregas, so they might as well sell him.

If you really think that we have done our transfers 100% by the book over the years then you are seriously deluded.

We have bullied teams for years for their players and we'll continue to do that.

I know we have. My point is, we don't do it as badly as these spanish clubs. We don't go bitching to the media about how this player is "just on loan" at this club and is actually our player.

None of that bears any relevance to whether Barca players should be in the press every day spouting off about a player who is under contract with another club. People aren't annoyed at the fact that Barca want to sign him or that he wants to go, its the tactics of the Barca players and staff that are riling people.

Gave us 80 million quid?

I despise Real Madrid but not because they signed Ronaldo.

All the shite in the Spanish press was silly but it made feck all difference to the outcome IMO. He wanted to leave, they wanted to sign him and that's that. I don't for one moment think the reason he left United was because Real Madrid staff and players said nice things about him in the press.

I'm sure nothing he read in the press was any different to what he'd already heard in private and I doubt anything that was said in private was any different to the conversations that precede every transfer.

Maybe not to that extent but we made sure (or we used to when we bought players) that they knew we were interseted in them. It's just the same as the Spanish in terms of 'tapping' the player up.

When a player hears that a team like United, Barca or Madrid are interested in them, that gives them a massive incentive to either a) get that transfer sorted or b) negotiate a bumper pay rise with his current club. Agents don't fecking help either, but that's another topic.

Let him run it down - it plays til 2015.

Like the above poster mentions. It isn't about the player wanting to go. It's about showing abit of respect to the club who currently hold his contract.

Is there any real difference - in terms of the respect shown to Arsenal - between Xavi, Puyol, Pique et al telling Cesc all the stuff you read in papers when they're training together and repeating it to a journalist?

In an ideal world, no player would ever be tapped up before a transfer but we all know that in reality it goes on all the time.

I've long said it was Ronaldo Mk II. The really pissy thing about Barca in my view is not wanting to pay the fecking money.

That's what its all about. everyone has known for a long time that he would one day end up at Barcelona, the same can;t be said for Ronaldo with Madrid. Barcelona are not Madrid, they dont have Madrids endless money so they are using the angles they can to get a decent price. It didnt work with Madrid trying to get Ronaldo and it wont work with Arsenal.

He'll go for 35-40mil next season.

They're just refusing to meet the selling club's valuation. Just like Arsenal did when they signed Arshavin or Chamakh (or most of their first team squad, as likely as not) I'm sure they'll pay up in the end, mind you. No doubt Madrid were hoping to pay less for Ronaldo but eventually realised they'd have to cough up mega-bucks if they wanted their man.

Personally, I don't think there's any moral highground in this. All the more so when you consider the dubious ethics of clubs like Arsenal (and yes, United) snapping up the products of academies on the continent because of a difference in the age at which they're allowed to sign a professional contract. Goes without saying that this sort of behaviour is particularly relevant when it comes to Barca refusing to pay over the odds for Fabregas.

He's going nowhere for less than £60M (probably even more this time next year).

All due respect Pogue, I disagree.
I think it's one thing, the Barca boys saying to Cesc about joining them to him, face to face.
However when you bring the media into it, it puts Cesc into an uncomfortable position. Journalists sensationalise it and grill him on it whenever they can.
It's one thing talking to him about it, but it's bad form using the media as a tool, knowing full well the media know Cesc would like to return to Barca and therefore making Arsenal the villians in this ridiculous soap opera for keeping him a 'slave'.

The club and manager have been reasonable about it. Rosell has basically said, yes we want to sign Fabregas, i'm trying to meet Wenger to discuss it and we've made an offer that was refused and it will be difficult to get him this season. Same as Guardiola...

The players spent all summer with Fabregas winning the world cup, they are probably never out of the media after winning the world cup and constantly being interviewed and you have to take into account it's a huge transfer and these things sell papers so every bit of chat going will be lapped up.

Like when City went for Kaka, it was huge news and Kaka was rarely out of the paper and players were talking about the ambition of the club and how amazing it would be to get him and the whole highest paid player ever and biggest fee, it's talking points and this is a transfer that has been bubbling about since Cesc showed his true quality.

Indeed, difference being Arshavin and Chamakh showed little loyalty or respect to their clubs. Wenger and co were all very happy to talk about these players whenever asked, even commenting on what they would and wouldnt pay etc etc

Arsenal are just lucky Cesc has respect for them but whilst Arsenal and United show teams they buy from little respect it is a bit rich for everyone to be digging into Barcelona for not showing Arsenal respect.

I've almost forgotten that Fabregas was a product of Barcelonas youth system, not Arsenals....

Has he handed in a transfer request yet then?

Fabregas has played less than 30 league matches in the past 2 seasons. His injury record is sure to be taken into account when the fee is finally settled and despite rating Fabregas higher than most on here, I cant see any good reason why he'd cost as much as £60 million despite his injuries.

No point, it would just be rejected.

How do you know?? If I remember correctly, Gallas threatened Chelsea that if they don’t allow him to join Arsenal he would score an own goal. They didn’t have a choice, did they?

Barcelona and their players have really reached the point of becoming one of the most hateable football clubs out there.
