Fabregas wants to go to Barcelona

I'm guessing he'll probably stay for one more year then go next summer.

Is that the royal "we"?

If a player insists on leaving (which seems to be the case here) a club is usually wise to take what they can get - without demanding the sun, the moon and the stars.
We are the Arsenal... Fabregas isn't insisting on going in fact he's just said he's leaving it up to Wenger.

What Arsenal will get for Fabregas depends how desperate and stupid Barca are to get him. It's not like they are short of quality midfielders. Perhaps it has to do more with the out going president Laporte signing off with a big signing.

Edited? You just wrote some old bollocks and attached it to my name you dull cnut.

Well its still more interesting than your deluded ramblings about the dispicable little cnut still being there next season. 1: Grotty miserable north London Or Sunny cool Barcelona? 2: Being in with a chance of winning everything going or winning absolutely feck all whilst your manager says " the kids are nearly ready " over and over like some clock watching peado? 3:Playing for your boyhood club or playing for a bunch of Guardian reading sandal wearing Prius driving Tarquins and Timmys in a souless toilet?

The fact is he is gone. And good fecking ridance to the cnut.

It's in Wenger's hands apparently. Or is it? To be honest it's a matter of time, and if Arsenal can get decent money for him, they'll sell him. Fabregas seems pretty keen to go, and there's no telling how he'll react if he's forced to see out another year of his contract. 60mil cash is a bit optimistic, more likely 40mil plus a player as a sweetener. Still a good deal (if they get it) mind.

If you're going to sell, you're going to want to do it before the Euro gets much weaker.

It's never a good deal to sell one of the best players in the world. Fabregas was always going to be back in Spain by the time he was 25, another year is probably the compromise solution but he's not going cheaply.

if fabregas leaves, the premier league will be void of real world-class world-star players. for the past 5 or so years the prem has been the more dominant league but i see that shifting to spain. is the PL losing its star-appeal after the exits of ronaldo and soon to be fabregas?

They still have Torres, Rooney, and Drogba but yeah a lot of top notch stars are being pulled to Spain

It's not shifting to spain so much as Barcelona and Real Madrid. None of the other clubs can attract the players of the caliber of a Ronaldo or Fabregas.

yea i know it's mainly barca and real madrid, but should the premier league be worried? I have no real knowledge of the money and business-end of the league what with all the tv deals/rights, sponsorships etc. I'm guessing this can't be a good thing for those higher-ups in the FA or whatever. Other than rooney, drogba, lampard, gerrard, torres there aren't many big "stars" that ppl would pay money to see... the players who even people that dont follow football would recognize.

I'm wondering if the premier league will become less of a spectacle with all its best talents leaving.

It's weird that the team with best midfield pairing in the World are the team who are looking to make the biggest midfield transfer this year.

Really reminds you how important it is to strengthen and constantly progress.

While we sit around waiting for the scraps.

We're either going too wait to long and then get held to ransom, as with the Berba-signing, or we ain't gonna get anyone coz they're all going to sunnier climes, as with Ronaldinho.

This is not going to be a good summer.

This is not going to be a good summer.

Patience, young Skywalker.

But yeah, I do get the feeling that due to these yank cnuts we are now starting to seem, and feel like a club in a bit of a decline.

Shame really, because on the pitch (and regarding incoming revenue) we've done everything over the last 15 years to deserve massive financial success.

If we're talking Messi then we're listening otherwise forget it.

I understand your upset that your teams best player wants out and are desperately trying to convince yourself it wont happen, many of us were the same last year with Ronaldo but the fact is Fabregas WANTS to leave, hes already told Wenger this, he wants to join Barcelona hes made that crystal clear, Barcelona know this to and player power these days is massive, Fabregas father has also come out and said the player desperately wants to join Barcelona.

Its happening Pete, when the player so clearly wants out (and telling the manager this less than 2 weeks after the seasons finished is clear testament he does want out) clubs always find a compromise.

Fabregas was never going to stay at Arsenal much longer, hes off, best you can hope for is they throw in a couple of rejects to sweeten the deal.

The question is: Why do Barcelona want Fabregas? Is he playing ahead of Xavi or Iniesta? Don't think so.

Isn't it perverse that Barca will keep +$50MM worth of talent on the bench, just because they can?

this poster said it best:

Actually this scenario kind of reminds me of the times during which we had the best midfield in the world with Giggs, Scholes, Keane and Beckham (with Butt as backup). We too splashed the cash to get Veron whom was arguably one of the best midfielder in the world at that time. Look what happened...
If this transfer really goes through, I wonder whether the same thing will happen to them. Too many cooks spoil the broth. :smirk:

Henry is leaving, which means there's a hole on the left-hand side of their attacking three. Iniesta has played exceptionally well there in the past, almost as well as in midfield. He's not worse in that position, so if they can get Fabregas to replace him in the middle and have him performing miracles out wide left then they'll be stronger. Not to mention they'll have Villa up front being clinical, not that useless lump Ibrahimovic.

They definitely have room for Fabregas. Also, in times of need (injuries), it will allow a lot more flexibility in team rotation.

He's also young and they certainly want him to start integrating in the team so that soon he can be the main midfielder in the team.

Guardiola --> Xavi --> Fabregas

Smooth transitions, in the most important position for their playing scheme.

That's the plan but it probbaly means that it's not vital for it to happen this year. Interestingly while lots of Barca players have been saying 'we'd love Cesc to come'. I haven't heard anything from Iniesta. As Wenger said recently; 'They keep saying buy players for the team ..... but not in my position'.
