Fabregas wants to go to Barcelona

Really bemuses me that United fans are getting so wound up about all of this.

Most odd.

Amen to that.

I don't know about the rest, but I'm wound up by these 2 spanish teams and their transfer 'tactics' in general. Particularly because of what Madrid did to us with Ronaldo. So it doesn't matter if Fabregas is from Arsenal or Hull City, I would still be annoyed by it.

True that. So many jumping on the Madrid/Mourinho bandwagon - but they DID exactly the same...and TO US...so surely the Barca hate is a wee bit more then their "transfer tactics" but probably envy. Or wait, most definitely envy.

For god sake, this angle is getting incredibly boring. Every time anyone says anything negative about Barca or Spain he is labeled as 'bitter' or in this case 'envious', its nonsense. Just because someone disagrees with your viewpoint on a successful team doesn't mean they are bitter or jealous of that team. What do we have to be bitter about in relation to them anyway? They beat us in the CL final? So what, they were the better team on the night and we best them the year before.

People are entitled to think what they want about Barca, and labelling those who dislike them is pathetic.

Why are you getting so agitated there fella? I never once said "everyone should like Barca" or you are not entitled to your opinion.

I for one, dont give a rats ass about Barca or Madrid - & i dont have a "viewpoint" on either - I support United & that's where my loyalty lies - what these 2 cock-munching teams do, doesn't affect me at all, what I simply stated is that it is pretty hypocritical for people to slam Barca, and wish Madrid bash them - when Madrid is arguably the worse offender when it comes to transfer targets! Surely that makes sense to you? If not, maybe you should try and look past the bitterness then. ;)

Madrid use this angle with 99% of their transfers. Barcelona made what? one other signing and nobody even heard of it until it was done and dusted. Just like the majority of their signings.

The way people are going off about Barca is a joke in my opinion, i dont care if i get abuse from r_nick or whoever but anyone saying Barca are the worst and they now wish them to get beat by Madrid need to take a look at themselves. It can only be bitter as no club is worse than Madrid and even then the whole Fabregas saga is as rediculous as it is because he's a catalan and barca are catalan and he was trained by barcelona.

Would people be up in arms about Bilbao having a real go at bringing a Basque player to their club? It is a sense if identity as much as anything else. This isnt a portuguese or german declaring love for madrid.... it's a catalan kid declaring love for his people as much as anything else.

i could be wrong but i don't think fabregas is a cnut like gallas..

he comes across like he loves arsenal but eventually wants his dream move..

Make no mistake, Fabregas is a snide little cnut. He's had a lot of prctice though, as it seems like you need to be a snide little cnut to play for Arsenal.

Exactly.
And why should we be bitter or envy about players that publicly interfer in other player's affairs saying their team is the place to go and that certain transfers are ineviteable anyway or players that spit on ex-managers of other clubs or players that lose no opportunity to roll around on the floor awaiting the ref's decision.

That's just fecking disgusting.
It has all feck to do with bitterness. It's just the behaviour of those players that make me sick. feck this Spanish cnut of a football club, really.

Oh and to avoid certain posters to immiadetly jump on this post, claiming I just hate Barca because I love Real Madrid.
The feck them sentence goes for Real as well.

This saga is really hurting you

If you mean Villa then that's because the media coverage was last summer and once Madrid bought Benzema everyone assumed Villa was going to Barca. Of course back then, Valencia decided to play hard to get and Barca opted for the Eto/Zlatan deal instead.

The surprise, if any, was when things kicked off again around Christmas with lots of newspaper cover stories and player comments - the deal was probably done in January. Just because it happened in Spanish and no English club was involved doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Not that it matters. Fabregas has a contract that he'll honour until such time as Barca and Arsenal agree a price - that would be true whether Puyol and co had talked about it or not. The sad thing will be if it damages his relationship with the Arsenal fans but that's up to them.

I'm not sure whats being said but i think its along the lines of "How badly do you want to play fo Barcelona ? Would you kiss me ? "

Then Fabregas snogs him. Worse than the Ronaldo saga now.

I meant to quote Frankly, I'm going to blame my phone instead of me being a spastic because that's just how I roll!

Keep rolling rolling rolling rolling rolling, you might get something right.

And since it was directed at me (even if you directed it at someone more pissed off about it than me) i'll reply to you for my own amusement.

It's a talking point and i find it funny how the majority bar about 3 posters despise Barcelona based on this saga when it's hardly anything new and quite a unique case.

Nah, he just asks for a kiss, Fabregas obliges and the other chap celebrates he has kissed a World Champion. Very odd :wenger:

I don't know the context in terms of the show but I'd guess it's another variation on the Iker Casillas / Sara Carbonera post World Cup Final kiss - the Spanish TV channels have been full of them. That chap isn't Sara though.

I really don't see why you keep repeating this point. Does it make it okay if United try to sign a Mancunian player like that, but not okay if we try to sign a Londoner?

The facts here are simple. Fabregas happily signed the contract years ago, and now Barca wants to make his position at Arsenal untenable so that they can sign him cheaper.

When United supporters blindly back United player/manager/whatever - they are asked to take off the red tinted glasses.

What is the equivalent phrase for blindly supporting Barca/Spain that FV is doing?

The just wow - did he really just say that to to justify their behaviour get stranger by the day.

Simply put - Barca from top to bottom seem to be doing everything they can to force this issue. It is not against any UEFA or FIFA rules but, morally anyone not wearing purple/maroon glasses can see is wrong.

Maybe Arsenal can sign a deal for 35 mil for him to go next season and maybe by then something will happen to him to be nowhere near the amount but, Barca can't back out then - that would be awesome.

Must be so nice for his Arsenal teammates to know that all he talked about while at the WC was to not play for Arsenal anymore - hey he didn't say it directly and he is too classy to say it but, why not repeat what he said behind closed doors, that makes him sound so much more classy.

What's that show biz term ? Oh yeah "Break a leg this season Fabregas"

I don't recall anyone holding a gun to Cecs's head telling him to sign with Arsenal. He'll get his "dream move" when Arsenal approve.

Exactly, he's the one who left Barcelona looking for money (even though he'd finally get a professional deal there a year or two anyway).

I think some of the Barca lovers should have a look at there own team first. When these Barca players are asked questions all they need to say is I would love to play with Fabregas one day but he is an Arsenal player. The main issue for me is that the players and club seem to think Arsenal owe it to them to return the player. If Barca wanted him this bad why wait until now. Simply because they have realised how good he has got but think they shouldn't have to pay to market value. It's Arsenal who have given him the platform and continued develpment and starting place that's turned him into the player he is now. Arsenal owe Barca nothing.

I remember Madrid players and there quotes about wanting Ronaldo to come and to be fair some were just as bad. The difference is Real never tried to screw us into trying to get Ronaldo on the cheap and theytched there desire to sign the player with a fair cheque.

We are no angels either people can talk about Berbatov but we paid Tottenham handsomly for him. They are not good tactics to use but people and football clubs tend to accept the situation in the end aslong as they get a fair return on the player.

If the likes of Xavi want to say anything it should be I really hope Barca are willing to pay whatever price it takes to bring him here. It isn't Arsenal in the wrong here expecting Fabregas not to wish to return home it's Barca in assuming that if a player wants to play for you then you don't need to pay there value. The players seem totally disrespectful of the fact it's not there place to be making these comments and obviously hope if they can put enough pressure on they make the situation untenable for Arsenal and Fabregas.

I think the reason people are disapointed is we watch Barca likened with the gods of football and they are a great credit to football with there attacking play. But off the pitch they are showing themselves up. Time for Barca to put there money where there mouth is or come back when they can afford him. Stinks of arrogance.

Well said, MarkC, sums the whole debate perfectly up. It's totally legitime to want a player to play for you. In that case, make an appropriate offer for him. But don't send your players to the press telling the whole world that it is your divine right to have the player in question in your team, because it is not. I don't think we are angels and particularly the Hargreaves saga still leaves a bitter taste. But at least, our players don't give daily interviews about players from other teams and if we want a player, we usually pay an appropriate or even overpriced fee for him.

I'd say 45 but easily would be willing to spend 50 million without thought, at 55 million I would certainly ponder it especially considering his age and resume

Chavy speaks

BARCELONA star Xavi has risked the wrath of Arsenal fans by claiming Cesc Fabregas is only 'on loan' to the north Londoners.

Spain midfielder Xavi, 30, says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is simply "delaying the inevitable" by refusing to let his captain move to the Nou Camp.

The Spanish champions had a £29million offer for Fabregas turned down before the World Cup but have continued to court the 23-year-old all summer.

And Xavi insists his international team-mate will be wearing the red and blue colours of Barca sooner or later.

He said: "We know where Cesc wants to be this coming season, but perhaps there is not enough time for Barcelona and Arsenal to agree a deal.

"Arsenal need to understand they are only delaying the inevitable.

"If we don't manage to get his signature this season then Arsenal only really have him on loan for a year because there is nothing they can do to stop him joining next summer.

"I haven't given up on him joining us this season but, if he doesn't, it won't be more than a year before he is back home.

"His people will have a whole season to sort out the deal between the two clubs and it will happen at the very latest next summer."

Pathetic

According to "El Mundo Deportivo" Wenger has agreed to listen to offers for Fabregas
The Arsenehe has changed his position uncompromising few days ago and is willing to listen to an offer from Barca, after realizing that Cesc Fabregas is ready to go one step further and make it clear once again that he wants to come to Barca. The Arsenal player threw a pulse of requesting a letter expressing his desire to go to Barca and Cesc, sources close to the player consulted Mundo Deportivo yesterday, intended to convey to Arsène Wenger his desire to dress in Barca.

After publicly stating its intention to dress Barca last May and travel to London before playing the World Cup to ask Arsene Wenger to let him go, Captain 'gunner' has not loosened. Wenger was asked at the time that leave its future in its hands and now the player's intention is simply to refloat the situation regarding his possible transfer.

Change of strategy

As reported yesterday the radio station Ona FM, Wenger has already given up and Arsenal will sit to negotiate with the club, that maybe has opened other avenues of negotiation with other players, as Ozil and Gourcuff, if not agreement occurs.

Arsenal, because he knows that his master, after seven years of stay in the club without having met their desire for titles (one Community Shield and FA Cup is what has earned since joining Arsenal, and won when Cesc still did not have the same importance as now) want a change of air and understood that the situation can no longer renewable. In these circumstances, and the possibility that ultimately the club is tired of waiting, has opted for a change in its strategy. You are not offended.

This is about a pulse with Barca to get the best price possible. After the first offer from Barcelona (35 million euros) Arsenal responded by asking 60. However, English club sources located in the 45 claims of Londoners. Barca, meanwhile, not to exceed 40 (and could not, according to the business plan announced by Vice President Sports, Javier Faus). Barca directors were willing to travel this week to London to negotiate, but the trip was not finally. Arsenal want discretion.

Tomorrow, in Madrid

After enjoying a short holiday in Ibiza with his friend Gerard Pique, Barcelona, Cesc returned yesterday and today will travel to Madrid to attend the wedding tomorrow Julio Baptista, former player of Sevilla, Real Madrid, Arsenal and now the ranks of Rome, who made good friends during his time at London club
