Fabio Coentrao

Ok .So what is driving this rumour ,because didn't Ancelotti say that no players are leaving.

Because every transfer rumour needs two sides to it. One saying it's almost complete and the other saying nothing will happen. That's how transfer rumours work.

Was that said in the presser?

It was said on Mutv after. I think it was Craig Norwood, clubs photographer, who first tweeted that Moyes said we weren't interested in him but later apologized and said that Moyes said we haven't completed the deal yet, obviously a huge difference. Honestly I think there's a pretty decent chance it could happen, he'd help out quite a bit.

Can he play in midfield, as in central midfield? Heard something about Mourinho first wanting to use him there when he arrived in Madrid & apparently he did play there.

He has played there but Rafael and Park have played there as well. Could do a job in an injury crisis but shoudn't be relied upon as an option

We're not going to sign anyone. Ever again.

The thought of us ever signing another player ever again feels as Foreign to be as a pig giving me head. We don't even get seriously linked to players any more. Only by fat scouse losers on twitter. I doubt we even look for players any more.

I think we're all neglecting the most important part. He's called Fabio so he wont get a game anyway

If it's true that he smokes and is lazy then it doesn't sound like he's someone Moyes would sign.

People would say the same thing about Rooney last year.

I think he didn't settle in Madrid. He played for two years there but wanted to leave. He expected to leave and when it didn't happen he got depressed and sulky. The darker idea is that he faked the injury (or at least its severity). However more likely is that he played (while injured) for Portugal in the play-offs and got a worse injury (he had to be subbed off). In any case, dark rumours about workshy players are standard practice for Madrid before selling a popular player, or before selling an unpopular one at a reduced price.

To be honest he's exactly the kind of player who leaves mid-season. Unhappy, out of favour, ready to leave - like Cantona, or Evra say.

Woodward has his own brand of crisps?

Yup, the pack looks proper promising, but when you open it there's few, overprices crisps in it.

Yep. Great packaging - lots of guff about the world class crisps inside, only the best crisps are good enough for you; but when you open it, you find only one long thin Belgian crisp with a disappointing taste.

He had a Lahm-esque performance in the last Euro. Does his star have fallen that much? Seems like not many so called big clubs are going for him now.

Moyes loves a good dilly-dally over deals, doesn't he?

It would appear that way so far and given what Everton fans have said on the matter I think it is something we will have to get used to. Seems like he wants to be 100% certain on every aspect before he concludes a deal.

All this whilst we desperately try to hang on to a player famed for his professional indiscipline in a the off season and who likes the odd fag or two.

You kind of wonder if the story in the Independent was leaked by the club so Moyes won't get criticised for not signing the lad.

Without being too flippant, there aren't that many places you can go after Madrid that aren't a step down. Then you factor in the question, who needs a new left-back.

Chelsea's an obvious possibility, but it's hard to know where Coentrao and Mourinho ended up after the squad meltdown in Madrid last year, and back in the summer Mourinho may still have wanted to look at Cole. The press were suggesting in November that Mourinho was going to enquire about a January loan deal with option to buy - maybe because he's not sure how their relationship will work out.

Personally, I really doubt a mid-season loan deal is attractive to Madrid. They'd need to buy/loan cover themselves and why would they when they've already got a good backup player in Coentrao.

Think we'll probably get Coentrao, but I would like us to be watching young Juan Bernat at Valencia. An exciting young left footed winger with dribbling and determination, he's been Jordi Alba'd into a left back this season. While Valencia are a bit... Well shit atm, he's performed well at left back and I can see his rise in the game not being too short of Alba's, if at all. He will certainly play for the Spanish national team and the one concern with him is the same as with most attacking fullbacks, at 5 foot 7 1/2 he's a bit short. He'll overcome it.

Here's his game vs Real Madrid not long ago

True that. Also PSG has shown interest in Evra, so there might be another one.
Seems like Madrid has done a good job, shifting players they don't want at decent price (with the help of Benitez, one might say). So, there might gone the day we/anyone can get someone cheap from them.

He'll have to displace Alberto Moreno first.

PSG are believed to have put a bid in last summer, believing Coentrao was eager to leave and Madrid were ready to sell. However if the reports were correct the bid was below €10m and Madrid weren't that desperate. In the end PSG bought a young French player (Digne). I don't see French football so I don't know what's happened since, but if they're interested in Evra it maybe to help while Digne gets experience.
