F1 2024 Season

But if it's a straight choice for Sainz between Kick/Audi and Williams, it's just a big kick in the teeth to Audi and showing drivers must doubt their ability to hit the ground running.

Yeah I'm not questioning him necessarily, more how he hasn't been offered something better.

About time someone said this but I would add Hulk, KMAG and Bottas to that list as well.

Williams can never be better than Mercedes though realistically. In theory if Renault nail the engine they could be the best team. I guess living near Williams is probably nicer than living near Northampton though. Just looked though and Alpine aren't far from Williams really.
Alpine are treading water. It's just advertising for Renault. They have no real ambition throw money at the outfit to channel for the top step. It's why they had such a brain drain recently and why Alonso, Pat Fry etc left.

Wait where has it been confirmed Sainz is going Williams?
No, James Vowels said he thinks Sainz will chose to come to Williams. You wouldn't say that publicly unless you were very sure you have him signed.

He's 30 now, I think he will stay at Williams for a season or two, the look to move back up the grid when slots open up. Better to be in a Williams that can challenge for some points rather than a Audi which could be a few seasons away from challenging for points.

Still nuts that he has to drop down like this. Totto obsession with keeping the other seats at Mercedes open for the slimiest of chances that Max jumps ship (he won't). Then if that doesn't happen Totto has the "next Verstappen/Hamilton" in Antonelli and he won't want to repeat history like he did when he let Verstappen slip through his fingers, with antonelli. So Sainz is screwed

At RedBull, Perez is a average no2, but brings in alot of money and isn't capable of challenging Max. So that keeps Verstappen camp happy.

So indirectly it's all about Verstappen and Sainz is going to lose out. Shit happens.

Apparently this announcement has gone down like a lead balloon in the paddock. None of it has been ratified. Allegedly a few teams are in the process of raising formal objections as the design hasnt been agreed or signed off.

Hamilton has said the new cars are slow and still too heavy. Verstappen has said they need to lose 100-150kg not 30kg.

Because of the active aero the field spread is expected to be bigger than what we got in 2022 under current regulations.

I thought that 30kg wasn't that much to lose. However, if the additional battery power means more batteries then maybe it could be.

You'd think if your car is both shorter and narrower you'd naturally lose 30kg off the chassis but maybe not with modern carbon fibre ones.

that FP3 was so weird that I have no idea what to do in Superbru
Mercedes always drop off in qually. Probably cause the other teams are running a lower engine map.

Max on pole, leclerc a close 2nd.

There was some interesting comments from James Allison, the Mercedes technical director.

He was saying he thinks the Red Bull upgrade that they put on the car in Imola has actually been a downgrade and he's hoping obviously that that sustains itself going forward, as he would do working for a rival team.

probably newey phoning it in, now he’s resigned.

One of Ferraris and Perez could be out.

I think Perez could cost them the constructors this season if it stays this close

Stupid to renew his contract

Red Bull hoping that they have a 14 day backout period on the Perez contract.

Oh Checo…that contract renewal making less sense with every race.
