F1 2024 Season

He does but RBR don't really need it. The Oracle deal alone brings in the budget cap yearly. There are expenses outside of the cap of course but still, they don't need the money. There's so many better drivers out there it's ridiculous. If next season is anything like this one it could easily cost them the constructors title.

Only real benefit I can see is the team harmony aspect. Perez is nowhere near being able to challenge Super Max, so there isn’t this constant tension. Having a clear #1 and #2 does have some benefits.

Yeah I can understand that but as a consequence both RBR and Perez are ridiculed every race weekend because of his terrible performances. Feels like a very "soft" decision which seems very unlike RBR who have the reputation of being ruthless with drivers.

Them not needing the money for the F1 team to spend doesn't mean the private company holding the team doesn't have financial interests. After all, to people like me, F1 was killed( in spirit) in order for team owners to earn money.

I understand. It was something I liked about Red Bull. If you didn't perform you were gone. Nobody was safe. They had a good thing going by using Toro Rosso / AlphaTauri / RB as a breeding ground for the main team. This also ensured young talent would get a chance there. Now they seem to opt for more stability at RB by keeping Tsunoda and Ricciardo in the seat instead of allowing someone like Lawson to grow there who is more likely to put Perez under pressure. Seems money is now prioritized over performance. Or maybe they think Max pretty much ensures them the championship so they don't need a fast second driver but I think they're wrong and I don't like this attitude. In my opinion as a F1 team you should always strive for maximum performance even if that could lead to a slightly less stable environment. That means more Rosberg and less Bottas.

They will do anything to keep Monaco on the calendar won't they?

The 2026 cars are a step in the right direction, but I’m more interested in the rules from stopping teams for creating dirty air.
The cars still need to get a lot smaller though.

They really aren't that much smaller are they, just lighter which teams will already be moaning about most likely.

At the track, it was a massive 20 min hail storm, now dry but no sun, with more rain coming. Cannot see them do any running.

Shouldn't it be a red flag instead of a yellow one in this case?

I like the size reduction, it isn't major but it's a right step.

Engine regulations will be shite no doubt.

Lewis has installed a new power unit, which is why he was out there early.

"Both Lewis and George are running the old front wing in these wet conditions because if they do have an off, they don't want to damage the two new wings they have got."

If they had Lance or Logan on their team it would have been "challenge accepted"

Apparently this announcement has gone down like a lead balloon in the paddock. None of it has been ratified. Allegedly a few teams are in the process of raising formal objections as the design hasnt been agreed or signed off.

Hamilton has said the new cars are slow and still too heavy. Verstappen has said they need to lose 100-150kg not 30kg.

Because of the active aero the field spread is expected to be bigger than what we got in 2022 under current regulations.

Fallout from FIA 2026 annoucement continues. Bosses of AM and Mclaren said there is still much work to do to finalise the regs

James Vowles (Williams) said thaf 30kg reduction in weight for 2026 isnt possible.

He also thinks Sainz will join Wiliams for 2025 and that Williams will have the best engine on the grid in 2026 (the mercedes one).

Sainz to Williams is crazy. How can Perez get a renewal but Sainz has to drop down so far? Wouldn't he have been a good Ocon replacement for example?

I'd rather take a long term deal at Williams than Alpine given the engine change in a year.

Williams can never be better than Mercedes though realistically. In theory if Renault nail the engine they could be the best team. I guess living near Williams is probably nicer than living near Northampton though. Just looked though and Alpine aren't far from Williams really.
