I don’t think this is quite the same. Unfortunately the way McLaren behaved on the radio left him no choice. If he didn’t, he would have destroyed his relationship with Oscar.

The mistake was the persistence of McLaren’s messages to him. It was not needed.
 
Nah this has just taken the shine off a good weekend for Mclaren, they need to stop manufacturing these races and just them go at it as it's obvious Lando doesn't want to play ball.
 
No idea why people are calling Lando a dick, he's the person in prime position to challenge Max for the title and this was a great chance to make up some ground but he has to give up that due to embarassing decisions by his team. They've sacrificed Norris to try and look good to Piastri.
 
McLaren should have let it go and dealt with it after. Better to ask for forgiveness from Piastri after the race, than to act like muppets on the radio and also cost your closest challenger to Max 7 points.
 
Maybe Norris should focus on his starts more and then he wouldn’t be in this position today, it was all in his control to win from pole.

McLaren still have some naivety given that they’ve not raced at the front for over a decade.

Would be funny if they ask Hamilton if he'd have let Piastri past him and he says no.

Because the team decisions come first, always. In anything. If you are not willing to follow them because you "disagree" then there's no point being there.

Schumacher did it, vettel did it.

You have to be ruthless. Was the teams fault for bringing lando in first when Hamilton wasn't a threat to them at all
 
This has made it awkward for everyone. McLaren should’ve just let Norris win and apologized to Oscar afterwards for their strategy feck up.

Norris will be livid.

Mclaren are pathetic.
 
The way they did it is the problem, putting Norris in a position where he can't legitimately go for a win.

Lando hasn't passed Oscar on the track though, he's only in front of him due to some stupid calls on the pit wall, as much as he wants a WDC you need the team and wingman with you.

This is where Lewis nailed it with Mercedes and Botas, they all knew their roles and were working off the same script, you can say the same thing for Max as well, but as soon as you start fighting your team (Lewis vs Alonso) you will feck it up and hand your rival the title.

That’s my point. It was McLaren’s fault.

But the radio messages just meant that if Norris didn’t, his relationship with Piastri would be destroyed. They don’t have the dominant car. They need to work together.

What should have happened is after Norris ignored the first message, they should have stopped and dealt with it behind closed doors after their primary challenger to Max had secured maximum points. That way, Piastri can’t blame Norris and there’s no animosity. Piastri could be angry with the team but that’s far more manageable than creating a rift between drivers.
 
I think Mclaren have shown today that they don’t have what it takes to win the title. Max will probably get a penalty to drop even more points and yet they’ve thrown away 7 points in that title race.

Lando did the right thing in the circumstances but the team made at least two mistakes today which could easily come back to bite them at the end of the season. At best, they’ve severely eroded Lando’s trust in their ability to make the right calls. Once they’d made the initial strategy error and Max had tried his kamikaze overtake, they should just have explained to Oscar why they had to then hold position.

Piastri isn't going to get the drivers title, in this position and on these points Merecedes wouldn't even have debated giving Hamilton the win to prioritise the championship.

Exactly. They seem like a "the most important thing is to have fun" team.
 
Very diplomatic from Lewis Hamilton. Shows the character of the man.
