F1 2021 Season

Seems a bit silly to force someone off the track and then cry that they got an advantage by leaving the track… maybe don’t force them off then?

Reap what you sow…

Sorry but that image to me shows further that max was ahead and made the corner.

Exactly.

Hill and Rosberg are ok with it. On the same channel … in the same discussion… this is just not good form from you

I didn’t hear those guys, I’m at my in-laws and my nephew is making a racket, but the point remains true that those guys are bemused by the ridiculous call.

1st point also true tbh. He dove in and looked to go across the corner and stop Hamilton from making a full turn; could have easily gone into Max as his car covered most of the turn in which you would by coming into the apex at such pace.

Max doesn't give a feck if Lewis goes into him and they both DNF as he wins the championship. Lewis has to be careful not to have a collision. It's a weird race.

It Lewis did the exact same thing everyone would be creaming themselves about it. It was a good move.

No one Is saying it’s the kind of move that deserves a penalty. But if you cut across the other driver and force the contact, you can’t be mad that the other guy has to go off track to protect his car.

It's quite clear his car is ahead at the apex. Unless I misunderstand the word apex
poking your nose in at the last moment isn’t being ahead. you need to literally be alongside before turning for the corner, he wasn’t.

max blocks hamilton even making the corner and forces him to take evasive action off track.

Three things I would say:
- Max made the corner
- Hamilton had no choice but to go off. Max didn’t leave space on the track. But, he then didn’t come back on properly.
- Why the F wasn’t Hamilton prepared for that? I could have seen that move from the previous hairpin.

How many times does this need to be said - he made the corner.
He made the corner, only because Lewis had to move himself off the track to make the space. If Lewis doesn't move there, contact was guaranteed.

Still, would have been just better for Mercedes to give back the position, all the excuses are ready for the end of this race, which will be a sad ending. Would have much preferred he just got the position back.

only just started watching, had to do something
What happened ?
Max had a shit start which got Lewis ahead and on lap 2 Max forced Lewis wide and Lewis took advantage to get his lead back.

Stewards chickened out of a call and people are convinced Lewis/Max are cheating bastards depending on who they support.

The onboard is quite telling from Hamilton, he left the room and got none back. One of those where you upset either side.

I think they've made the wrong call.

It's a tricky one, because Max has thrown his car into a position where Lewis either has to give up the position or crash. He's done that because he knows a crash benefits him more than it goes Hamilton.

Still, he hasn't broken any of the rules as they are and by rights, Lewis should've been made give the place back.

For me, that evens things up. Verstappen had been given the benefit of too many decisions up until today and now he's been on the wrong end of a big one. If he wins from here he'll be a more worthy champion than had he won an uneventful race from pole to finish for me.
it didn’t break a rule but neither did hamilton and that’s the point.

hamilton tried to turn into the corner then got bumped off wide to evade. he literally couldn’t go anywhere else.

Fair enough then, mind you I'm no expert whatsoever :)

Fair. Look, like I said I agree with you I think. But I would say that RB have talked about hard racing all weekend and not to punish for it. If you don’t punish Brazil, you reap what you sow. In my view, both Brazil and this are punishable.

I get why he didn't have to give the place back, max has made a rod. But I do think in that particular situation, it looks harsh to me. But then I'm no expert.

I think the tyre issue is by far the problem for Max though. The fans will bang on about that one decision, but fecking his tyres in quali is what has put him in this position more than anything.

Leclerc

Thought he was on course to clean Max out there.

He could've slowed and let Verstappen through. Verstappen has done him with the move.

It's ballsy to the point of reckless, but it's not illegal.

Can’t comment on Brazil, but as you’ve said above; Lewis just pinning the accelerator and heading to the next turn wholly off the track is the ridiculous bit.
