Looks like the strategy is mirroring whatever Max does. On second look it's not too bad, I thought they could at least do a few more laps on those mediums but oh well.

Red Bull must be regretting chasing a set up geared for one lap pace.
I don’t think it was right but it doesn’t matter as with the past few races Merc has been faster - always been Hamilton’s to lose.
Here's another thing: if the runoff isn't just flat tarmac all the way to the next corner, then the move would likely have left Hamilton behind Verstappen, and people would be calling for an investigation of Verstappen for the move, which I think could have been ruled "no further investigation" also.

As I type this the stewards have said they think Max long lunged. Which explains it, but I'm still not sure I agree.

Hamilton can coast on these tyres now with Max destroying his to catch-up. I think Max will have to pit again at some stage.

Because their strategy sucks and it's safest to just mimic whatever Max does since they've the advantage which forces Red Bull to beat them on pace and not strategy.

Lewis is the consummate wily old professional. Max is new to the game of being WC and making mistakes.

Within reason, that wasn't reasonable to assume he could do that without colliding. Something only Lewis tried to avoid, clearly.
