F1 2021 Season

Norris going in on the tyre change under red flag rule. He's correct too, it's completely trash to allow that to be a thing.
He's entirely right to complain. Margins are so thin in F1, especially in the middle of the pack. Essentially he lost his reward because the stewards put out the wrong flag.

Yep. And so is damage repair. I think at the point of a red flag, it should literally be paused race. Can’t do anything.

The only time I would make an exception is weather related eg. Switching from a dry tyre to a wet tyre.
I think you should be able to work on the car but that should mean that the car starts from the pit lane.

If you read your post, you will see that you have contradicted yourself.
Lewis has no idea....
Error by Lewis.
They can't both be correct.
Lewis had no idea Max was informed to let him through. Little nuance there.

If the telemetry shows Max slowed, accelerated and slowed then it's 100% on Max.

Edit: Here's laps 35-37 for both drivers
Second edit: Contact occurs at approx 5300m, the first dip down to 100 km/h.

If it was a red flag because 2 cars had clashed front wings and then say 6 or 7 cars behind them got punctures going over the debris?

I would guess its for a scenario like that they decided a tyre change made sense?

Obviousley today that didn't happen and the rule seems daft... equally punishing a bunch of cars who couldn't avoid debris would seem harsh

Considering Max just tried to take out Lewis twice, both times on turn 1 it seems your point is not accurate.

The rear of the car is much stronger the front wing. The front wing is the most delicate part of the car.

Some people in this thread aren't worth trying to discuss with - this is the same guy who posted that Lewis fans are "running scared" for wanting a penalty, and then immediately followed it up by calling them "too rabid and bitter" to accept that Max did nothing wrong.

At this point I genuinely suspect it might be Max's or Horner's account.

I am not sure but it seemed like when Lewis finally did go inside on that incident Max also went inside which caused the crash

it shows max’s range of vocals. hits a couple of highs and some reasonable lows.

Which degree do you need to understand this.
It shows that Max broke sharply twice. I think it's second braking that caused the crash. I feel that it was to try and make Lewis pass him before the DRS line but that is regardless braking sharply when Lewis was directly behind him was dangerous.

Going by that graphic, he lifted the throttle twice but didn't break

Basically it shows Max lifted off twice before applying the brakes. What I cant tell is if he braked before, during or after the collision happened.

He was clearly expecting Lewis to just go past him.

Where are you reading that? From what I see the brake like stays at 0% the whole time?

If he didn’t brake then I don’t think he’s at fault. Yeah the positioning and slight veering wasn’t helpful but legal and well within his right to give it up before the DRS. Think this stacks up with what I originally thought, an incident caused by confusion caused by terrible communication from race control.

So will there be questions asked about this track? It looks prone to accidents.

Look at the break throttle. He brakes sharply twice.

I'm sorry I don't think you understand the telemetry. The throttle shows he releases twice, the line moves down. The brake stays flat meaning he didn't touch it. They are two separate lines. Happy to be corrected if I'm reading it wrong.

Agreed, according to the graphic the brake was 0% the whole way through. He lifts off the throttle twice accelerating hard between the two throttle drop-offs.

Never seen a graph like that, but that's my interpretation as well
