F1 2021 Season

Half points is such a shambolic rule in these situations. Just void it.

I don't understand why Sky was obsessed with getting two laps of 'racing' behind the safety car.
Well done George Russell for his performance yesterday, but that counting even as a half race is a farce.

There’s loads of idiotic rules in F1, but giving points out when there has been no laps of racing is up there. I know people accuse F1 of being a procession, but that is taking the piss.

Anyway, at least it stopped me from having to listen to Souness at half time.

Am watching the football now, so missing this. Has any actual racing taken place? Or did they get a couple of laps behind the safety car just so they can hand out points?

I'm not watching, but I suppose the fans are still there? I'm imagining sitting in the rain for hours, just to see a bit of parading before you're sent home...

They should just do away with the full wet tyres, they never actually race on them anyway so why lug them around the world.

It’s always inter conditions or SC/Red Flag.

There are some who stuck it out, yeah. And I'm sure the organisers will be getting ready to argue that refunds aren't necessary because there was a "race".
Ffs what a farce, if there's no actual racing giving out points is ludicrous.
Yeah, it's a 2005 US GP level farce.

This is a farce, feel for the fans who have waited around in the hope of getting some actual racing. Have they even discussed trying to do it tomorrow, which of course now won't happen as the race has "started"

As I read somewhere in the thread, ensuring minimum conditions for various contracts are met is probably a large reason for why they continue trying to get something done.

That would actually be disgusting. But makes far more sense why they were desperate to get something in.

They've given up

Surely they should have discussed trying tomorrow morning, if it was done around 10am that would have given them the afternoon to get packed up etc, would have been better than this farce

Hope the fans get at least a partial refund

Cant race tomorow because lack of marshalls. They go to their actual jobs on monday. They all volunteers with normal jobs during the week

At least Russel get his 1st podium in Williams nonetheless.
Spa, Suzuka, Canada, three of my favourite circuits has no race this year. Bit a letdown.

I enjoy Canada too, Spa is probably my favourite especially in the wet. Good for Hamilton saying he hopes the fans get refunded. Least Russell gets his podium just a shame it's in a rather hollow way but that lap yesterday was fantastic so close to technically a race "win"

Just seen Hamilton calling for the fans to be refunded in his post "race" interview. Good to see a driver saying that, doubt it will make much of a difference to the higher-ups though.

Completely agree with Lewis, hopefully as one of the sports most high profile drivers they will follow his advice and refund the fans

To think the World Championship could be decided on this…

Verstappen got lucky today (well, we don't know how race would have played out), but the season could also be decided by Verstappen's puncture in Azerbaijan or Bottas's crash that took out Verstappen. You win some, you lose some.

It would be nice if all points were earned/lost exclusively due to driver and team decisions, but unfortunately, that's not how it goes.

You could argue he earned the points by being the quickest in quali

Yeah I can't complain. As a Lewis fan, he's had a bit of luck recently.

If Max wins his first WDC now it will always be one won with a race without racing

This sport is gone.
