F1 2021 Season

I mean let’s be real... he is unlucky to get caught in that mess. Yes, there is an argument to say if he had qualified first he would not be in that situation. But it’s possible to say that Max is unlucky without also making the conclusion that Hamilton is lucky.

Typical binary mindset.

Hamiton on his way to 8th with ramming Max out with his and co-drivers car. Impeccable tactics

Oh boring the sun is coming out, we want more rain

Hope we get a shock podium and Russell does get some disaster hit him so he finally scores points

So you are saying Max is unlucky?

Despite a red flag chance to repair?
How can you say he isn't? You actually think his car will be 100% after the red flag? And even if they manage to pull off a miracle repair, he's 13th after he was second when he got taken out. He had a good start and is the victim of Bottas' stupidity. He did nothing wrong. Of course he's unlucky.

F1 needs more competition. Would be great if Ferrari can start competing with Red Bull & Mercedes.

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but Hamilton and Bottas drive the exact same car right? Do they intentionally put 1 good and 1 bad driver in all these teams? This start makes it questionable whether Bottas even has a drivers license.
No. It just Bottas is not the same quality driver as Lewis/Max, never will be. Many argue Merc should put Russel next to Lewis from next year or should have been this year also.

I think we almost all do. I have Ferrari rather than Leclerc though so 1 still in the game.
I'd been doing well with Lando + McLaren for 2-3 races now, then with Ferrari looking stronger here I changed to Leclerc + Ferrari. So yeah at least have Ferrari but I will only score driver points from Verstappen if he manages to get back in there.

They’re talking about max getting 2nd. All well and good, but that’s assuming his car is in a decent condition.

Good repairs on Max but he’s going to be without a big part of the floor.

Hamilton cheating within the rules again, by accelerating away from the crash so he didn't get hit.

As per usual, Lewis Hamilton the stand out lucky bastard!

I completely get that Max is unlucky. But why does that by default make Lewis lucky? He qualified first, he made a great start, which both in combination meant he was ahead and in the best place to avoid collisions. Max is unlucky 100% and to the extent that gives Hamilton a gain in the championship, it benefits Lewis. But there is a reason beyond luck as to why Hamilton came out of that unscathed.

I don’t think the drama is done here by the way. Wouldn’t be surprised to see another incident at the restart

It's do-able if his car can be fixed but it's a big ask.

Agreed. With how much work they’re still putting in on it with 2 minutes until restart, that’s indicate that it’s not in great shape

The pictures from Latifi's car of him gently pootling around the inside of the corner and taking about 15 places while everybody else bins it

What kind of penalty can Bottas realistically get? I know it was a mistake and not intentional but he does deserve something hefty if you ask me.

Could Bottas get a penalty for the next race ?
Nico on about points and a pen.

In all seriousness, do actually feel for Max, it had the makings of a classic race.
Can he get a podium, it's going to be hard for him.
Lewis made a good start, that for me was the reason he missed getting hit, Max also with a good start.

Wait for him to shamelessly celebrate the win, if he gets it, while Max car is seriously injured.

Perez car is already in hospital. Hamilton better stand in silence if he wins!

I personally would love to see Bottas run around celebrating John Terry CL final style if Mercedes win the race!

Of course Hamilton being on pole and getting away well is the best he can do to avoid the whole incident. But I'd say it's lucky that the only guy that could even threaten his win here today is one of the affected.

Ralf Schumacher talking about a grid penalty for the next race.

I don't think Max can get into a podium place, it's going to be very hard considering all that damage and the short turnaround time.

Yes, I can accept today as unlucky for Max. You said Lewis is lucky, which is not the case. But Max said himself about the Red Bull and Mercedes being much faster than the rest of the field so these setbacks don't impact them as much.

Qualify first and have a good start = better chance to avoid trouble on lap 1.
