Everton Ribeiro

I didn't know Kleberson was Brazilian league player of the year as well.

Kleberson was not that bad, he was very unlucky and came to the club when we were really bad. If he had come in four years later, it could all have been very different.

Kleberson would get into our current midfield :)

I will continue doing my job here at Cruzeiro but plan on getting to a big club. It's a dream I've had since young, I've always liked Manchester United."
But Cruzeiro have no plans to sell him anytime soon - and if they did it would certainly ne at a cost.
And that is the case. Cruzeiro President Gilvan de Pinho Tavares stated this in response to further speculation linking Everton with a move to United in the winter transfer window:
“It’s going to take an awful lot of money to get him. I'm happy to wait - I waited a year with (Walter) Montillo - so the fans can rest assured that I won’t just accept any offer for Everton.”
They did wait on Montillo, the Argentine international who joined Santos in January 2013. Santos first registered their interest in the player in 2012 - when Cruzeiro tied him down to a long-term deal in March.
Eventually they did sell him - and ended up getting a bit of a rough deal, selling him for R$16 million (approx £5 million).
So maybe waiting won’t be a bad thing after all?
£12mill will be more than enough then.

Let's do it, let's just sign someone, I don't care who as long as he's good enough.

Sounds doable in January. It's hard to say if we're genuinely interested though.

Well their league runs differently to ours and starts in January, so it should be easier than signing someone from Europe.

Yep. It's the first hint of us being able to do a transfer so if we're interested then let's hope it gets done.

I actually read your post wrong and thought you said it isn't doable in January

But yeah, hopefully we can wrap up some business this January. If we can sign 1 CM and 1 LB and offload Buttner, I'll be extremely happy. I couldn't care less if they're cup tied either, people put too much emphasis on a player being cup tied, their careers will last longer than just 1 season with us.

Whoever Moyes has in mind for our major purchases, they're seemingly not available at the moment. I've got a feeling that it's Koke and Reus. Reus has a release clause in the summer, though I'm not sure how much.

A left back and someone like Ribeiro would do for me. I'm happy to wait till summer for the CM if that's what it takes to get the right player.

Koke and Reus will not join without CL football. People need to understand this.

Modern day footballer priorities - Money, CL, Club...in that order.

The idea of Koke joining us either this month or in the summer is hilarious (assuming we don't get 4th). It's not going to happen.

If we can't offer CL football I don't think he'd want to come here over staying at Athletico. And that's not even factoring in other suitors, if he is available.

The guy has just broken through at a highly promising team under one of the best managers in the world. Yes, Athletico are, in terms of club stature, nothing compared to us. But they're far more likely to be in the CL next season, or to win it for that matter (not that I think they will, but they've a better chance than us). Add that he'd be leaving his country to come here, plus a dash of reservations regarding our manager...It's not a particularly enticing offer is it?

The only thing we can really offer over Athletico right now is higher wages. Given his young age, that probably will not be enough to sway him against all the aforementioned factors.

Has he ever been capped by Brazil? I guess he might get special dispensation because it's Brazil, but I don't think so.

I remember Anderson getting a work permit because of some special talent ruling, surely the same would apply to Everton?

Who are all these clubs that want Koke? lol. I keep saying just because we want a centre midfielder don't think every top club in Europe wants one too and if they do they will do what they always do and chase the Vidal's of this world. Koke is still the equivalent of getting a Xabi Alonso from Sociedad or Toure from Monaco.. he's not a merchandise signing. Lets get real and not first on everyones list. If our midfield was in good shape i don't think the fans would care too much about him and wouldn't blink to eye lids if we signed him except maybe he can be so and so's successor.

We offer more money, more prestige and more chance of success over anything more than the short term. He won't come in January but if he has a straight choice between Atletico or us in the summer he'll choose us. We're on a totally different level to them.

Our problem would be other suitors. The likes of Madrid, Barca and Bayern would be bigger draws and other clubs will offer more money or a better lifestyle. Having said that, every time we talk about signing a top player we say "he'll be off to Barca/Madrid/whoever". They can't sign everyone ffs.

Star of last season’s Brasileirão, Everton Ribeiro has once again reaffirmed his commitment to Cruzeiro and talked about the need to focus on the Copa Libertadores campaign coming up.
Raposa’s director of football Alexandre Mattos also confirmed there had been no offers for Ribeiro or any other Cruzeiro player.
Lance reported quotes from Ribeiro who said his focus is on his current team.
“I can not say I am leaving if you do not have anything concrete. My focus here is on Cruzeiro. The Libertadores is knocking on the door, we have to be well prepared for this competition.”
It was then the turn of Mattos to pour cold water on speculation, although he did admit there has been interest from two countries.
The director of football declared his boredom on the constant transfer talk and again stated there had been nothing concrete for the 24-year-old.
“We have nothing official, just boring and chatter. There is interest subject from Ukraine and Qatar but nothing official. This is not only for Everton but also with several other players.”
Cruzeiro will hope to keep hold of their star player for 2014 and the signs currently appear positive.

So no bids so far.

Kleberson would get into our current midfield :)

Kleberson was a good player but he needed to be in a midfield with other better midfielders. He reminds me of the Kagawa situation.

It sounds to me that its Ribeiro's camp that's trying to force through this deal rather than United.

The Cruzeiro duo have both been linked to the Old Trafford outfit since the close of the summer transfer window last year, and also hold hefty price-tags.
Reports in Brazil claim Dede and Ribeiro have been valued around £13m and would prove to be bigger than United's spending in the winter window last season, which saw Wilfried Zaha join the club for a deal thought to be worth around £10-£15m.
24-year-old Ribeiro was named player of the year in Brazil's top flight last term and has widely been linked to United, with the Red Devils proving to be weakest in the middle of the park.
Moyes meanwhile is still looking to land a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra in the January transfer window with the French ace expected to leave Old Trafford in the summer so he can finish his career in France.
His departure will leave Moyes with a huge void to fill and the United boss has identified Leighton Baines and Luke Shaw as his top targets to replace him, but may move his search further afield to Dede, having received fierce retaliation from Everton and Southampton over any transfer attempts.

“They will need to offer a lot of money to sign him”
Cruzeiro Club president Gilvan de Pinho Tavares
Cruzeiro Club president Gilvan de Pinho Tavares meanwhile is adamant is will take a big offer to lure the Ribeiro away.
Tavares said: "They will need to offer a lot of money to sign him.
"I can't ensure he will be at the club his whole life, but if an offer reaches what I want.
"I am good at keeping players at the club, so the fans can be calm as it won't be any offer that will be enough to sign Everton Ribeiro."

Still sounds like they're trying to sell.

South American player + interest from United = move to Porto for 1/3 of the original price quoted.

Everton Ribeiro has several proposals according to his agent Robson Ferreira, who also called for talks with the Cruzeiro board to happen soon.
Ribeiro enjoyed a sensational 2013 and as a result has been linked with several European teams including Manchester United.
His agent Ferreira told Lance that he has one offer from Germany, two from England and another, which remains undisclosed.
“Everton received official proposals to leave and his family are aware of this. Let’s first talk with Cruzeiro who owns the federative rights of the player. As the club president said himself, Everton is the ace of the team and was the player who improved the most last season.
“He was elected by all national sports critics as the best Brazilian player and received the Golden Ball. He appreciates that he reached new heights last season.”
Ferreira did state however that the 24-year-old is very settled at his current club and dreams of appearing in the Copa Libertadores.
He cunningly added that anything could happen in the current transfer window, to leave Ribeiro’s future uncertain.
“Everton likes Cruzeiro, he is happy in Belo Horizonte and has the dream of playing in the Libertadores.
“Cruzeiro is part of the project for the player but so is Europe. Let’s talk to the board of Cruzeiro to see what we all think and take it from there. Football is dynamic, a lot can happen until January 31st.”
Sounds like a buy him whilst you can warning.

From the same interview, apparently the offers were 1 from a German team, 2 from England and 1 undisclosed.

Lance reporting a 10 mil euro bid has been made by an English club in the champions league, which has been rejected straight away.

Spurs is the rumour, not sure about the CL club.

If it is then I'm surprised we've bid so low. £12 mil is believed to be the starting price. I'd give them £15 to wrap it up quick
