Everton Ribeiro

"Everton Ribeiro has just been named the best player in Brazilian Football. Man United are interested in Everton Ribeiro.''

Weird that he's still in Brazil at 24 though, he'll be 25 before the season is over.

He seem's nippy and agile, but apart from that I can't see anything special to be fair.

A lot of Brazil based journo's are saying he's a decent player, but not good enough for us.

Yep! cos we have Young,Anderson and Cleverly

Tim Vckery:

He's been the star player in this year's Brazilian Championship, a left-footed attacking midfielder who has played a key role in his team coasting to the title.
He's had a strange career. He was Brazil's left-back in the 2009 South American Under-20 Championships. But he didn't do well, lost his place in the team and was left out of the squad altogether for the World Cup at that level later in the year. At the time he was with Corinthians, who loaned him out here and there, didn't seem to think much of him and let him go to Coritiba - where he reinvented himself as a midfielder.
I think he's one of those players who has benefited from the tactical switch to 4-2-3-1. He can search for space across the line of three, and then showcase his tight dribbling and ability to thread a pass. But after a couple of interesting campaigns with Coritiba, no-one really imagined that he was capable of being as decisive as he has proved with Cruzeiro - and some doubt that both he and his team will be able to sustain this year's form.
In terms of adaptation to English football, he would clearly find the intensity and reduced space of the game a challenge. But I think it's all academic. I can't see any basis on which he would be awarded a work permit.

Everton Ribeiro in talks over Manchester United transfer, reveals agent
Cruzeiro midfielder Everton Ribeiro has opened talks with Manchester United over a January transfer, his agent has revealed.
Ribeiro, who is rated as one of the rising stars in Brazil, has been strongly linked with a move to United in the last few weeks.
And despite Cruzeiro initially suggesting that the 24-year-old was not for sale, his agent has revealed that negotiations are already underway over a move to Old Trafford.
‘Manchester United want him,’ explained agent Robson Ferreira.
‘David Moyes has been impressed. I’ve already been to England and talked personally with them.
‘In United’s opinion, he is the complete midfielder.’
Any deal for Ribeiro would likely cost in excess of £15million, but United are keen to add at least one midfielder to their squad in Janaury, and have been following a number of targets.
Pesonally I think his agent is bullshitting, but we'll see in January.

"I already watch the Premier League games," Ribeiro told ESPN Brasil. "They are great teams that play in Europe. They are the dream of any player.

"I feel I am ready to play in any part of the world. If you play for Cruzeiro, you can play in any place.

"United have Kagawa, Rooney, De Gea is the goalkeeper. I know them very well because I play with them a lot in video games as they are a great team. You play it one day after the other and know the players even better.

"I would fit in any part of the midfield. I would do well as a playmaker to support the attack."

When asked if he will be playing alongside Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney, the midfielder said:

"It would be great.
"I let my agent and Cruzeiro talk about that. When they feel it's good for both parties, they will let me know. I'll see and we'll analyse everything."

Ribeiro added to Gazeta Esportiva: "There is always speculation after a great performance in a competition, but I am a Cruzeiro player.

"I'll rest a lot, enjoy the holidays with my family and return fully charged in January. I let Cruzeiro and my agent handle the negotiations."

:lol:that bolded quote made me laugh.

Don't know why as i'm not overly impressed with this guy and jokes about his name aside, but he really does seem like the type that we might actually buy.. Just a feeling..

Vickery has said that there is no chance that this guy's work permit application will be successful, so this one is a non-starter.

and he is right..no internationals rules him out of the initial application

The fact that is close to 25 rules him out as a special talent...

So no..unless he can conjure up a european passport - he will not get a work permit in the UK

Didn't Chelsea just get one for Willian who is a similar age?

City for Fernandinho too?

They had both played in Europe?
I don't think that matters with regards getting a UK work permit. As far as I can recall they both failed the initial application due to lack of international appearances, and only got in under the "special talent" banner. I could be wrong though, it's just a vague recollection.

I did have a quick Google search, but perhaps not the easiest thing to find, but I thought it was for several reasons:

- Exceptional Talent
- Played in at least 75% of int games in last 2 years
- Lived in Europe for 5 years

Obviously on this basis, I think Willian would have qualified as he was with Shakthar for a while, strange that we can't get him under exceptional talent if he's been labelled as this season's best in the league... There isn't much better talent out there clearly..

I still think the recent rumours are just his agent trying to stir things up and get a move for his client.

You could be right mate. I wasn't aware that time spent in Europe was one of the criteria so I couldn't possibly argue whether or not that's right.

God Know's, I'm sure someone will set us right  That's as I've always known it but I wouldn't be surprised if some of that is from FM or the rules have been changed

I think so too, players linked with us don't tend to be so open publicly about any potential move.

He is very good and skillful player, but this is his breakout season. Despite being boarderline brilliant this year, I'll wait and see for his development. It's way easier to turn out as a Damião, than as a Neymar. But he was unbelievable in this Brasileirão.

fecking hell, sign him. He knows all the players playing FIFA14, meaning he'll hit the ground running. It's on.

Left footed Brazillian midfielders are always a safe bet aren't they :nervous:

I'm assuming we don't have any avid followers of the Brazilian league who can tell us anything about him do we?

Paulo Freitas thinks he's a good player but doubts that he'll be good enough for us. A very knowledgeable guy when it comes to Brazilian and South American football. I take his word as golden.

I doubt we are even interested in him. We usually tell our transfer targets to keep it quiet until everything is finalized. This dude and his agent have been mouthing off to the media every other day.

Another Kleberson?

Who says that? I've read this a few times, but I'm not convinced it is true. Players will always speak in the press if they feel it is in their interests, and I think it varies from player to player. Of course, we like to conduct our business secretively, but this rule of 'if a player discusses a move to us, it's off' and conversely, no talk at times is seen as evidence that we are on.

I think we threw the baby out with the bath water on that one over the summer.

Wasn't he the drummer with Echo and The Bunnymen?

Who did we sign that we made noise about?.

Fellaini as kept pretty quiet until the last few hours, which was the same with Berbatov.

I am quite skeptical, but Thiago was never on IMO. Fabregas was just noise, and Herrera who knows what went on there.

Fabregas was just noise that our manager wanted to talk about at every given opportunity. We were more open last summer with transfers than we ever were under Fergie. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I think the days of "he's talking about us too much, we do things in secret, he isn't coming here" are gone.
