Does this mean we can sign Sancho, Haaland, Grealish, Varane and Ndidi in the same transfer window now?
Capitalism strikes again
Will not watch a single match of this Americanized bullshit. Football is dead. Feckers killed the one thing I enjoyed.
Cnuts
Sepp Blatter will be turning in his grave right now
Brave new world innit?Yeah, PSG and Bayern on their moral high ground.
Great yesCan we have a RIP Manchester United thread?
Forget all the NBA format nonsense for a second. Do you not want to watch the best teams in the world play each other? Regardless of how the format is?
Part of the incentive for clubs to focus on the league is placement that qualifies clubs for the Champions League. Being guaranteed a place in the contest removes that consideration. The focus will fall on the contest that awards the most money - The Super League

I actually still don't see it killing the spirit of domestic competitions. I just don't think that would happen, irrespective of this super league.
No we won’t / goodbye Glazer Unitedyou will though. I’m certain all clubs will play in their domestic leagues. I’m not saying it’s right, but we are creatures of habit, and we will continue to watch.
Kudos to Bayern Munich, Dortmund, and PSG for refusing to the invite (even if only just for now).
This thread is a live example of why we can't have nice things. We've not even got all the details yet and there's mass outrage. Why don't we just wait and see how it all unfolds?
I don't think alienating the rest of the smaller clubs is a good thing and the greed is ridiculous but....
Every year when it comes to champions league I'd hear people saying how good it would be if x team actually played x team whilst the teams are in their prime form but don't end up playing each other at all.
It would be refreshing to see the big guns actually battle it out each season to see who truly was the best out of a strong bunch but then when it comes to the actual winning of the cup it might be not that special because cup upsets by smaller teams are the best experience imo.
Bit like Leicester winning the prem.
90%Agree. I would say that 90% of fans from these clubs don't want this and actually want Premier League and UEFA to do some drastic moves, even if it means from tommorow.
Alright, we need to stop with this bollocks.I had us between 11 and 16 (so lower midtable given Bayern and PSG aren't currently in) and I doubt the club will now have any motivation to improve on that with no risk of losing CL money for not being in the top 4. I honestly won't be watching anyway if this happens but you seem excited, I guess this will largely succeed or fail on if there are enough people like you and fans who don't like it in theory but will watch anyway.
These clubs AND 5 clubs will be invited (id imagine it would be the one best performing team in each league). So if say Leicester said yes then West Ham would play in the CL. The race for top 4 would mean nothing. The CL hasn’t gone has it? These clubs just won’t be in it.
This one made me chuckle.Maybe the PL should have had a stricter fit-and-proper test.
I read that that Bayern will be added , I’m not sure if refusing at 1st and then joining it after will go down well either !Kudos to Bayern Munich, Dortmund, and PSG for refusing to the invite (even if only just for now).
Na, the sport being a Yank billionaire's plaything only became an issue this morning, when they realised it wouldn't be them making a cut of all the money anymore.Maybe the PL should have had a stricter fit-and-proper test.
Extra point attempts? With FIFA opposing, will that mean this super league will have jurisdiction to change certain rules as FIFA will no longer be the governing body?
Apparently Bayern are in but want to let the shitshow pass before joining, Dortmund weren't invited, its Leipzig (purely on footballing history like our goodselves at City) and Porto.
Isn’t that the case now with the Champions league? It’s the biggest, most prestigious European competition because of the money. If the super league doesn’t impact domestic competition, how will that be any different for clubs trying to qualify?Part of the incentive for clubs to focus on the league is placement that qualifies clubs for the Champions League. Being guaranteed a place in the contest removes that consideration. The focus will fall on the contest that awards the most money - The Super League
But arsenal are literally doing that now! Jose did it with us in his first season. These clubs AND 5 clubs will be invited (id imagine it would be the one best performing team in each league). So if say Leicester said yes then West Ham would play in the CL. The race for top 4 would mean nothing.
Like if you’re 5th with 6 games to go and you can’t win the league then there’s not really much to play for. You’d just rest all of your players for the SL games.
Could this be how United get shot of the Glazers? Start all over again

I reckon it’s a good chance it’s the other way round.
I've been wondering this. I've got a fair few questions I've not been able to really get any answer or at least discussion on.
This doesn't mean the CL and Europa stop, does it? The 'elite' wouldn't be in it and it may not be 'as' prestigious but could this not mean that different teams now make up those competitions?
Would a Southampton fan really hate the idea of a European night against Roma? Surely they would get increased TV and match day revenue. Maybe not to the extent the current CL clubs do but its still a European night isn't it?
There are Europa League teams who have never had a sniff at the CL but I'm sure it doesn't mean their fans haven't had some great trips and memories as part of that competition.
Could it potentially mean we have 3 European style competitions now and suddenly fans of a lot of clubs get the chance to start making European history of their own?
No you wouldn't, you won't destroy your career based on some loose information Sky pumped out this morning based on them losing the PL to something better. If you would, you're a moron, but you're obviously not.Well. If I was as rich as Pep and Klopp are, absolutely.
This isn't simply going to be a tournament. The guaranteed slot format means that motivation in domestic leagues goes out the window.
