Do you want the ESL to happen?

By all accounts Chelsea were very hesitant to sign up in the first place but didn't want to be left behind so at least they have shown a modicum of restraint unlike our club.

Not surprising, they & City's owners are not in it for financial gain. Also their ability to outspend the rest of the Dirty Dozen would vanish almost overnight.

The ESL won't be too worried about the fans, unfortunately. The real money is in broadcasting rights.

According to Wikipedia (link) there 294 stadiums around the world which can host Association Football and have a capacity of over 50,000. Considering the fact that a 20 team league will have 380 matches over a season, there'd be lots of options to take the ESL on a world tour.

Super League won't happen. It'll be inevitable that UEFA will just pay the big teams a fat cheque and everyone will go play happy families again. Footy is saved! CL is back!

Unfortunately, you still won't see UEFA, FIFA, players, pundits, Boris, media etc go against the billionaire owners because they'll all be back being paid. We will be stuck with the Glazers.

That's just how this will end up.

Fans will be fans, owners will be owners. Hats off and ultimate respect to the chavs who took it to their hearts and then streets. We are the red devils, the red army. Hope we do our part. It is now or never to punish the leeches who have been sucking the clubs blood for 15 years.

Unlike the other clubs, I feel United are in deep with this.
Why? Id say all English clubs are in this less than the foreign clubs. Its always been rumoured that it was the clubs jealous of Englands tv deals that got behind it.
Id say all English sides out by the weekend.

They still shouldn't let the Chelsea board off scot-free at the end of the day whether they were 'bullied' by the other clubs or not they are still complicit in this mess.
First one to fall only gets deducted 10 points. Second one gets 20 and so on. Let's see how fast they come crawling back.

By the way, the football agents were in support of the Super League. Let's see what they come out with as this (hopefully) falls apart:

I would love to see it if Chelsea request to withdraw and Perez says no tough luck, then City follow and they fight amongst themselves.

Not kidding, all United fans in Manchester need to take to the streets now. Right now. Keep the pressure up.

Get the banners out
Get the placards out
And kick these leeches out right now
This really is the only opportunity we'll get

Well 4 of the 15 teams who were meant to be in this are now gone so they need to find enough clubs before they worry about where they're going to play these games.

Correction: 5

barcelona won't join unless the project is given the ok by club members

joan laporta included this requirement in the project

Is it a coincidence that the 2 clubs affected by 50 plus 1 collapsed right away?
Dont stop here Boris, drive it through

This is also my fear! Now would be the perfect time for investigations and reform! Sadly, I agree with your outcome.

I voted against this stupid league. But, the fecking hypocrisy of FIFA and UEFA, Where are they when Real and Barcelona gets 80% of the TV rights in Spain? where were they when the German and Italian leagues has been the same champion for 10 fecking years. I hope this league does not go through but I wish this storm shook these corrupted organisations a bit.

Suddenly this has gone from terrible to hilarious.

What an absolute botch-job of a coup.

It’s just going to be us, Juve, and Real playing each other 15 times a season isn’t it?

It's quite bizarre to see people react so positively to this latest Chelsea nonsense and take every bit of news about this literally, getting emotional and not thinking for two seconds.

This Super League was extremely unlikely to happen, at least in the coming two years. Which was blatantly obvious given how amateurish the news was brought into the world, how unprepared everyone involved is at the moment, other than a cheap website there was no infrastructure in place at all. Obviously a club like Chelsea knows this so they can now act like they're taking the moral highground after joining the plan first to put pressure on UEFA - they're a scummy club who owe their success to the ridiculous spending of a shady Russian billionaire. And distgustingly people on here are celebrating this and lapping it up like a bunch of sheep.

The whole Super League is more of a threat and a negotiation position than anything by the big clubs involved. Throw out a generic press release and an amateurish website in the week UEFA is introducing their new CL set-up, create a meda shit storm.

In the meanwhile the UEFA is now being forced to create a lot more funds for the new CL, there's talks of finding investment parters to pump 6-7 billion into the new Champions League.

https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2...-2bn-deal-with-centricus-to-halt-super-league

"UEFA is in discussions with Centricus Asset Management over a 6 billion-euro ($7.2 billion) financing package to overhaul its flagship soccer tournament and stop plans for a new breakaway Super League, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Switzerland-based sporting body is working with Centricus on a plan to fund a new-look UEFA Champions League tournament, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing confidential information."

Crazy that so much of the game has been handed to the super-rich and tweaked to suit their interests and yet they still want more. Shows what kind of people we've let into the game.

The backlash against this needs to become part of a massive course-correction for football. Those who have benefitted from the rampant commodification of the game (from players and pundits who benefit financially to fans of rich clubs who have seen their clubs prosper) need to keep up pressure once the Super League has been put to bed. The last thing we should be doing is allowing big clubs to hold the game hostage like this to get even more preferential treatment than they already get.

Manchester United and Real Madrid are the big ringleaders in this.

We'll be the last to pull out.

We'll be left with the disgrace.

I hope all 12 teams get docked points so that none are in the champions league next year
