European Super League

Do you want the ESL to happen?

So this will test my theory that once one team pulls out, the whole thing will come crashing down. I can't see how it doesn't, personally.

If this all now falls flat on its arse, the leading proponents (Perez, Glazers, FSG, maybe Kroenke and Levy) need to be gotten rid of.
Everybody in the 12 needs to go or be muzzled. No excuses, no bullshit PR narratives. All of them.

Was this all an elaborate ploy by Roman to gain favour with the UK government?? Fair fecks either way!

By all accounts Chelsea were very hesitant to sign up in the first place but didn't want to be left behind so at least they have shown a modicum of restraint unlike our club.

Not kidding, all United fans in Manchester need to take to the streets now. Right now. Keep the pressure up.

Well done to the Chelsea fans for actually making something happen. If it does fall apart, fully prepared for United to be the last English club to withdraw.

The fecking Yanks will be the last ones to pull out. They won't go out so easily because all they understand/know is NBA/MLB/NFL shit and that's what they want over here.

Can someone photoshop Luke Shaw's face on this?

It doesn't matter. They still went ahead with it.

But the Super League isn't about not participating in the PL anymore? It's replacing the CL for this select group of clubs.
Its very much about the participation in the PL - or the lack of it.
United v Barcelona midweek vs Away at Burnley on a Saturday? Who does the manager pick? Who will the board tell him to pick?
How will the scheduling work out? Are the PL going to allow the SL teams play weakened sides week in week out to keep their reserves warm?
Is there any real reason to compete in a PL?? What about the FA cup and League cup. How long until the big 6 pull out of one or both?

All of this threatens the very fabric of the PL when more that 1/4 of its teams are not interested anymore.
Open your mind to what this SL really is?

Do they extend Chelsea's invite to Everton now and we see them tear down those social media posts from earlier.

I will be accused of being lazy. I don't suppose you have a template?

I don't, but it is a good point you raise. An email of a few lines which is personalised is worth so much more than a template.

I shouldn't say this but Parliamentary Committees and Government Departments basically ignore anything which is done to a template as they assume (conveniently) that is it a bot, not a real person.

I honestly can't believe the fact Chelsea now seem to have higher morals than us.
It's not morals. It's something else we've known they have which we lack. Competence and ability to act quickly and decisively.

Roman has played a blinder! Now he's got the support of football fans globally

It's not enough. There needs to be changes here. Billionaire owners can't do as they please. If Chelsea do pull out, their fans should push even harder on government and top officials.

Only, the rest of fans need to follow. Start a nationwide brigade.

Absolutely the UK govt need to be pushed to move ahead with the reforms they were talking about regardless of the outcome.

Dont think Roman comes out smelling of roses, just better then Ed and the Glazer clan.

Oh well hope this means they sell up, I would rather take Saudi Prince then those American gold diggers.

I'm glad it's Chelsea and not one of the shitter clubs like Arsenal & Spurs pulling out first cause this has definitely had more of an impact.

All goes to prove how fecking shambolic this thing was. Built on sand. At the first hint of a protest, one of the members folds and tries to leave (obviously a good thing), which SHOULD bring the whole thing down.

Absolute fecking shambles.

Chelsea to withdraw from European Super League

Chelsea will no longer take part in a breakaway European Super League.

They are the first club of the 12 teams who announced plans to form a European Super League to walk away from the proposed tournament.

Chelsea’s decision to quit the plans leaves Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur as the five English teams still involved with the breakaway tournament.

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck had earlier met with players and staff to discuss the proposals while there were a series of fan protests outside Stamford Bridge ahead of the club’s Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night.

Fans in Manchester have got to organize and kick the Glazers out, wont get another opportunity. A full boycott has to be done now.

It's going to be us playing Real Madrid and Juventus in some three team league every year out of stubbornness.
