If this goes ahead, Bayern and PSG will be the absolute kings of any money left over. They're in a good position regardless, but at least they're doing the right thing.
Awful awful,
Have to say those in favour should give their heads a wobble. Just have a look at the fecking scum behind this. Couldn't give a toss about the fans and yes UEFA/Fifa are corrupt to the core and deserve to be fecked up the arse but not like this.
I guess they will be hoping to retain much of the TV audience in Europe/Asia that currently tunes in to the Premier League, el classico and the Champions League final stages. Anything they gain from the US will just be a bonus.
The main thing for these owners is doing away with relegation/qualification from top level football. With that gone, they don't have to worry about investing sufficiently to keep their sides competitive (or risk missing out on the big TV/sponsorship money) - instead they can now skim off the profits for themselves. That'll be the motivation for Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool and United, anyway.
The clubs are destroying their own domestic leagues and that will cripple the divisions below them, it's not about good and evil it's about the degrees of the latter, what these clubs are doing is so self centered it's indefensible on any level and worse than UEFA.
That's brilliant news, I hold Bayern stay firm.
They should start it with immediate effect
Ha, definitely probable, I only asked as I was doubting I’d seen it right myselfAh yes, so it isn't a leak then. Apologies thought it was. I still think its highly probable. Manchester, build us a new stadium or we will move to Athens who have a brand new stadium waiting for us.
Happens almost yearly in American sports.
I disagree that it's worse than UEFA.
The "solidarity grants" package for domestic competitions is up to 400 million euros. Which is a huge increase to what they currently receive from UEFA.
Whilst I don't really like the competitive part of it, UEFA has made their own bed for this by outgrowing themselves and going from being a controlling, independent organ concerned with the greater good of the game to a corrupt business entity concerned with lining their own pockets above anything.
Same with Asian audiences. They really are banking on Europe and also not being expelled from their own leagues. Here's what I don't get about all this. If the clubs are banking on a large American audience to help fund this it just isn't going to happen. Weekday games are in the middle of the work day and only the dedicated few are going to miss work or keep away from the score so they can watch it on reply. For goodness sakes, TBS/TNT backed out of showing the CL/EL last year because they were losing money. You now need to pay for something called Paramount+ to watch the games. The audience just won't be there.
When do the Manchester knicks play the Milan dolphins then?

How so?Bruno condemns it. Love the guy.
I think, in conjunction with a lot of things, the slave labour used to build the stadiums in Qatar, the clear bribery at the centre of awarding a summer tournament to a country that hits 50 degrees was the beginning of the end for me.And then you remember the next FIFA world cup is in Qatar and remember there is no good side here and the business side of the game is just depressing, no matter which way you look at it (Bundesliga excluded).
It is not a giant leap once this is in place and the billionaire owners of these clubs are literally the ones deciding the rules. NFL teams already play games in London. It is not a stretch to imagine United playing games abroad once this happens. Why does everyone think this will happen? It's a US style competition format, nothing else will change.
For now. If they wanna disrupt European football like this to maximize profits, you can't put it beyond them to relocate teams either and stuff like that. They're already showing they don't care one bit about the (local) fans. Why does everyone think this will happen? It's a US style competition format, nothing else will change.
The 8% need a slapBBC poll currently showing 92% opposed.
No that’s only transfer muppets. I think most people know where we are at.Do i think it means we are more likely to sign Haaland? No! but I think it means we may actually have the money to sign Haaland, if he wanted to come here. People seem to completely ignore the effect the pandemic has had on football and are still having paddies when clubs don't spend 100's of millions on the latest flavour of the week.
Remember, we're "legacy fans" now?For now. If they wanna disrupt European football like this to maximize profits, you can't put it beyond them to relocate teams either and stuff like that. They're already showing they don't care one bit about the (local) fans.

Sadly, I don't think that will work.
The most immediate effect would be to ruin FIFAs and UEFAs own tournaments, while to the breakout clubs it might even be considered beneficial, provided they're reasonably confident they won't lose many really, really top players over it.
Also, I don't see how it can actually be carried out. The players are under contract. How can they refuse to play for their clubs? And if they can't refuse to play for their clubs, how can you punish them for doing so? Is it even legally possible for them to walk away from their contracts? If not, it's not really their choice, is it. And after all, it's not their fault that the Super League was established.
Fair play by Bayern and PSG to turn it down. Wonder why PSG declined.
