I will stand by my initial predictions although looks like De Jong may go for closer to £50M.@Fridge chutney which players can we get with that?
It was always a pipe dream to expect any more than that, but £120m doesn't get you that much in today's market particularly given how much work the squad needs. Even average players seem to cost us £50 million (see Fred, AWB etc.), we very rarely unearth a gem for a reasonable price, so you're looking at £120m bringing you 3 players at best. Maybe we can stretch to 4 players if we sell well for once but we always have trouble shipping players out.Nice size kitty
Sorry Dr. Dwayne
It was Nando's.
Basically this. We are going to loss Pogba, Matic, Greenwood, Cavani. £120m will barely get us enough players to replace this 4, let alone rebuild the whole big mess we are in.It was always a pipe dream to expect any more than that, but £120m doesn't get you that much in today's market particularly given how much work the squad needs. At the start of next season we'll realistically have just 3 senior attackers in Rashford, Sancho and Ronaldo (the rest being unestablished youth) - this is quite horrendous from both a quality and squad depth perspective. Midfield has been so bad for years and losing Pogba/Matic means we're in desperate need of 2 midfield signings. Defence has just shipped a record number of goals, major problems at full back and centre back.
Ole's 3 years of terror really have done a number on us, so many bad signings have left us with a major rebuild needed that we can't fix in 1 window.
It’s 140m euros plus outgoings. If we sell and buy well in instalments it’s more than enough to overhaul the squad. Some big decisions on outgoings to be made. This can’t be true, surely we’ll spend between 170 to 200 million considering we release a number of players.
Maybe 140 mil plus money from outgoings?
Really good interview with a Dutch journalist who know's Ten Hag better than any English journalist.
McKenna and Carrick leaving didn't actually help us. Look at who replaced them.Phelan? Is the club even considering whether he'd be a good match for an obsessive tactician? He wouldn't even be here if he wasn't renewed weeks before Ole got sacked. How often does the manager get sacked and his handpicked assistant he brought to the club stay behind. They failed together.
Club should pay his termination fee instead of trying to justify the cock up of a renewal. They should just be happy Mckenna and Carrick bailed them out by leaving on their own accord.
Add in Lingard, Mata who although they weren't very good at least you could say we had some senior players for depth. Both gone. Martial likely has to be sold although I suspect finding a buyer won't be easy.Basically this. Armas and Sharp are leaving. No clue about the psychiatrist. Ramsay is staying. Fletcher will only be coaching if ETH wants him to. Phelan's future is unclear. Will ETH bring his staff with him immediately or has there been any indication what happens to the people that Ralf brought in?

We don't even need to replace all the players we had this season. Our squad is bloated. 4-5 signings is enough with academy promotions into the first team squad supplementing it.Basically this. We will need to replace at least these 4 though because our midfield and attack are running very thin. McFred aren't going to play every games, neither should Ronaldo/Elanga. In fact, McFred and Elanga should be in bench. We need at least 3 first team DM/CM/RW and 1 backup FW, just to replace Pogba/Matic/Greenwood/Cavani. These 4 alone would cost well over £120m.We don't even need to replace all the players we had this season. That's where you're making the mistake. You're expecting a rebuild over 1 window. Listen to what Rangnick said, 2-3 windows. You're setting too lofty a goal.We will need to replace at least these 4 though because our midfield and attack are running very thin. But then our CB/RB/LB would still be very weak. We have no one from academy capable of supplementing those at the moment. We basically need to spend at least £250m this summer to have proper rebuild.
You can do good things with 140 million if you've done your due diligence with scouting and contacting the right people.
This rebuild wasn't going to happen overnight.
3 first team players with the right work ethic, ability and youth is all I expect regarding incomings in this window ,with a couple of talented youth players from the reserves getting integrated into the first team squad ofcourse.
Considering we still owe transfer fee which we had agreed as instalment payments + salaries of current player + payment of first year of transfer this season + new player salary, Club will most likely know what they can spend this season even if they spread it over several seasonIt's been common knowledge that no club has a transfer budget. It's just not how actual football accounting works. The payments are mostly spread over length of contract so saying we'll have a budget of 140, supplemented by sales in nonsense.

For a team that plays in Europe and expects to make deep runs in cup competitions you really want to be aiming for 2 senior players per position so a squad of 20 outfield players. Supplement that with youth on top. We'll be struggling to meet that requirement in midfield and attack given the outgoings.
Whilst depth isn't an issue in defence as it stands, quality certainly is so we'll have to ship some out to make room for signings. Any player we bring in will likely cost significantly more than the fee we'll receive for the player he's replacing.
Such awful management. Pogba should have been sold if this was going to be the outcome last year. You don't let an asset get to the final year of that's just asking to write off huge money. With that cash we could have taken the budget up to £170-200mBasically this. We are easily the worst club in terms of selling players.Such awful management. Pogba should have been sold if this was going to be the outcome last year.
