Doubt it. Can't teach someone to be faster and less fridge-ike. He's only going to get more Maguiry as he gets older. We should sell in summer.
It would be nice to have another capable CB. If he can pair with Lisandro and Lindelof gets hurt (Jesus that’s scary), we really don’t have much in terms of options. A revitalized Maguire might mean we can actually sell him in the summer!

you might want to go back and check his record v the top 6.. we never got embarrassed under LVG by any top 6 side

0-3 vs Arsenal and Spurs. The Arsenal one was a demolition, all 3 in the first half I think. Don't remember the Spurs game at all.

There’s a definite plan in way we move the ball upfield and then block the passing lanes when we lose the ball. Don’t know when was the last time I felt that about this team.

I remember both those games, I think. Against Arsenal we pressed very high and got killed in three razorsharp counters. Carrick prepped the tactics for that game.

Against Tottenham we got behind after a sub came on and there was confusion about who was covering who, if I remember correctly.

But in general, we always looked organized against the big sides and frequently played them off the park.

Carrick was not coach under Van Gaal. We looked completely out of shape vs Arsenal and they killed us within 20 mins. Schweinsteiger was the one who tried to press and team was completely out of sync, he left too big of a gap in the midfield and it was easy game for Arsenal.

Spurs killed us all game, Fosu Mensah kept us in the game. He was injured in that game and we lost 3-0.

We looked organized in most of the big games but in these 2 games we weren't, same in the games against Liverpool in Europa league.

One thing that has really pleased me about ETH is that he's wanted to bring in players with the right character. Casemiro, Martinez and Antony are all the kind of fighters that you want in the team. United have too often been passive, or even too nice, at least since Jose left.

Since ETH is a manager who is clearly into the tactical and technical aspects of the game, its great to see that he also understands how import that fighting mentality is. My biggest worry about ETH before he joined us was whether he would struggle to turn the mentality of the club around, since every Premier League game can end up as a real battle. But with his purchases & team picks so far, I'm thinking he gets this just as much as the other stuff.

He pretty much said this after the Brighton and Brentford games, that he could sit here and talk about tactics all day but it doesn't really mean anything if the mentality isn't right. Really stuck with me because you can see how spot on it is, believe that is when they did the forced team run and he joined in.

There's been a noticeable step change in performances since the Everton game.

The games we won earlier in the season was almost through grit, but some of the football we've played recently had been quality

Eh? Carrick was still in the playing squad that season, and under Mourinho the season after as well.

Yeah, it's very noticeable, isn't it? the team has clicked in the last few games and its great to see...that's why I've not been as bothered about the draws against Newcastle and Chelsea, because the performance has been top notch.

I appreciate your compliments for the team's performance. But to my standard it has been decent, not top-notch yet.

Spurs was total domination...I loved it!

But yes, you are right, I am reaching (a little) and it would be closer to say, in parts of games, it has been very good (considering the last 10 years) outside of scoring the chances created haha.

Still a long way to go.

Carrick played in that game alongside Schweini and we had the slowest CM pair of all time. That Arsenal game was actually quite close over 90mins, they were just clinical and we, as ever under LVG, were not. That was also back when Sanchez was world class, nearly got 40 goals and assists across all comps that season.

The Spurs game was a rollicking though, that was when Young went on up front.

Big thanks for your support. I and the team will continue to work hard to reach the standards we all deserve.

In case you're real please tell that piece of shit to feck off. Thanks.
There is no "piece of shit" among our professional players. It's just a matter of priority: Their personal glories or the team's common goal. If a player prioritizes his own personal limelight, that is his right and we all respect that.

But my job is to make sure the team's common goal takes the utmost priority. So if a player's goal no longer aligns with the team, we bid him farewell on mutual agreement with no hard feelings. That's just how this business is, mate.

Very well said.

In five years time, Ten Hag will be away from United, and no one will talk about him at Man United,” said Souness. “I would have ironed it out with Ronaldo on day 1. I personally would use him very differently, I still think he’s got something to offer.

These pundits have lost the plot I swear. Ironed what out with Ronaldo? he wanted to leave and nobody wanted him. They talk like we had to convince him to stay then broke a promise

Do those who did everything in their power to belittle style of play and patterns of play now accept that we haven't had a proper football manager for years ?

Ten Hag has us looking like a cohesive unit after 2 months.

Yeah. Biggest signs that the players know what they're supposed to do out there are the reverse and blind passes they're constantly making these few weeks. It's been a breath of fresh air.

Souness gets it. And by gets it I mean that he KNOWS that Manchester United perform better and are more balanced WITHOUT Ronaldo in the team. Thats why he is proper shit stirring now by being pro-Ronaldo and against Ten Hag.

Also an issue with the pro-Ronaldo fans spamming every post the United page puts up on Insta or Twitter. Its gone from #GlazersOut to #FreeRonaldo.

This is such an insanely dumb take...its not like Ronaldo hasn't had chances to show his form. ETH has been more than inclusive to try and get him going and he's basically missed more gimmies this season than the last 5 combined. Is that ETH's fault? Has Souness actually watched these games? Madness.

oh the irony of a liverpool pundit bashing a United manager for how he's handling Ronaldo who threw a hissy fit not once but twice now for now being played and asked to come on in the last 10 minutes of a match

hell it only took what a week???

I don't know why people have to post this drivel from the guy who signed Ali Dia.

Seriously who gives a shit how would he use Ronaldo?

Souness is perfect for TalkSport

More than anything the Pogba memes are all I think of now when Souness is mentioned haha...if he wants to continue talking rubbish then good on him, keep picking up that payslip for a few daft quotes every week. Easy work.

Nothing to get worked up about

This whole "communicating" thing is an insane take when you look at it.

It's Like a conspiracy, invented to argue in Ronaldo favour, but reality is the manager has already spoke to him when he came back to training after no showing, and it's actually Ronaldo behaviour that is the problem from wanting to leave pre season, then to not even showing up in pre season, to leaving a match early pre season, to huffing and puffing once the season has started to then walking of the pitch and leaving the stadium early during our most dominating win this season because he refused to come on as a sub as it's beneath him........................but that is not the problem at the moment, it's nothing to do with Ronaldo, it's clearly Hag fault for not telling him hes not going to play every match, when he's actually played a lot of first team football already this season.

Actually laughable these ex pros and anyone preaching the same shite

Liverpool Sourness trying his best to create drama, what a shameless twat

Ronaldo and his agent started to leak the issue of his no CL paycut around January-February, he was already throwing tantrums and questioning managers last season with for example the tactics of Rangnick and the 4222. And then he was out for the entirety of the overseas preseason one would assume that it would have been a good time to get closer to the new manager and understand what was expected from him?

If United fans have any sense, we'd vociferously support ETH in the stadia as these numpties in punditry could colour perceptions about what fans think about this.

By fans I'm not talking about Ronaldo's army of followers on social media, I'm talking about United-first fans.

ETH is by far the best signing this club has made since Fergie and if this mob have their way, we'd let him slip away in favour of a petulant has-been (GOAT level has-been obviously, but a has-been all the same) which no doubt has a negative net impact on our team on and off the pitch.

The noise this is creating is enormous and regardless of how you try to play it down, Rio & Keane have a lot of respect in the game, and they're the ones I'm most disappointed with. Kudos to Gary for speaking truth here. Souness would love United to descend into chaos so I'm not entirely surprised that he'd have a take like this.

There has to be no doubt where self-respecting United fans stand on this.

This new nonsense about communication reeks of a leak by the Ronaldo camp.
