Disgusted with alot of delirious comments in this thread. Clearly so many posts are from non Utd fans who are playing Red Cafe.

Ten Hag is by far the best Utd manager since Fergie. You do not win 2 pieces of silverware in your first 2 seasons and having to put up with the chaos at Utd without having fantastic management skills.

I'm 100% behind him. Can you imagine what he'd do with decent backing in the boardroom and with proper football people around him.

Any wonder the ABUs and imposters on this forum are targeting him relentlessly.

Good god almighty, what absolute pish.

Mourinho won 2 trophies in his first season with United.

He also had better league finishes than ETH.

He was still sacked because we ended up being diabolical in the league.

And applaud the manager off the pitch after we’ve just lost 4-0 to Crystal fecking Palace.

One of the “secrets” of why we will never become successful like Real Madrid.

The fanbase prioritises sentiment and appearing classy over having expectations of excellence. In fact, many denounce such expectations as being “fair weathered” and “we have no right to keep on winning”.

Ronaldo might be a prick but he achieved more at this club than Ten Hag ever will.

We really fell off. Some years back United fans would have collectively cringed at this sort of stuff

flexing FA cups on a player that won titles and Champions League with United, and one that's currently still an employee of the club. All this for a random bald man from Holland that had us finish 8th with an overdraft in GD :(

Jose won 2 pieces of silverware too and arguably the more prestigious one. The league results under him was better than ETH’s. Even then, He was rightfully sacked.

Fantastic management skills don’t translate to an 8th place finish and a persistent negative GD.

Not having a full squad to choose from is not a problem that only affects ETH

Countless times over the years I've heard posters in here lecture others with statements like "we wouldn't want to be like those white handkerchief wavers at Madrid".

He has conducted himself with class throughout his time here especially on FA cup final day which is reportedly his last match in charge for us. He can be as arrogant as he wants for us this coming week I don’t give a rats ass. We last won English football’s biggest cup EIGHT years ago. This makes us the most successful club in English cup competition history. He can say he’s better than Pep all week and I’ll be fine with it. It doesn’t change the long term decision making process but in the moment feck all this pathetic negativity. Trophies are meant to be savoured.

Agreed and if you were him you would want to take pleasure in your victory and put pressure on United. Of course you would.

There is no denying that winning the FA cup gives ETH a huge boost.

I will say I've gone from must sack to I'd be okay seeing how he does with the last year of his contract.

His main flaws: Stubbornness, inability to make the right subs/tactical changes and bad talent recognition still remain though.

Finding a replacement is the issue for me.

Because there was no hope or belief of a new structure existing at that time? What a strange point to try and make.
What's strange is how all post SAF managers were responsible for their own signings until ten hag.

What?! That’s the biggest stick people use to beat Ten Hag with, he’s made awful signing that he shouldn’t have been allowed to make without oversight. From a lot of reporting he took on ownership because there was no structure, as did all of the managers preceding him bar the occasional Woodward special. Now there is maybe he can just be left to coaching.

Not that I know if he should stay or not, but I don’t see what you’re getting at there.

Whether or not he is a good or bad coach, the problem is not Ten Hag. The problem is an incoherent squad that can't play the same type of football from one area of the field to the next, purchased by a club with no footballing philosophy to guide them, appointing managers with huge leaps from one style to another, amid antiquated facilities. That's a recipe for failure no matter who the coach is because you end up starting over again and again. The negligence of the Glazers (who have not gone anywhere) will take years to reverse. We have barely started.

The club needs to choose a basic style of play before it appoints a new coach. And it seems to have not done that yet.

As we all hold our collective breath waiting for the fate of EtH, I just wanted to say... feck Ronaldo that insufferable narcissist who's probably guilty of serious crime. I will always maintain that he haphazardly found himself in the wrong sport, he should have played tennis where all the cameras and balls are for him

What makes you think that with the same players the team would have played a particularly high line? And before someone make that point would you say that the likes of Burns, Lascelle, Schar or Trippier are speed demons?
I see no one has replied to this. This is the checkmate. Horrible system last season.

Yeah, fuming here mate. Reminds me of the 80’s when we hired that Scottish loser. We were a top 4 team in all the previous 5 seasons before he came, and he took us to 11th, 2nd, 11t, 13th and 6th in his first 5 seasons, but had a couple of lucky cup runs so some people still defended him. Madness.
God. Please ban any Sir Alex Ferguson talk from this thread mods. You’re staining his great name.

Reported.

Why don’t you explain it?
I'm not too good with tactics, but I will do my best to explain it.

ETH relies on good ball playing CBs and FBs to progress the ball up the field. Due to the fact how Ole and Mourinho had us set up, our back line isn't up to scratch. Only Shaw can do that. That why ETH added Martinez to the mix as well and that's why he also wanted Timber. Both of these guys were injured and our build up from the back started to immediately suffer.

The other piece to his success was FDJ. He was like a target man of sorts in the middle. If he was pressed he could keep the ball and bypass the press. If the opposition chose to sit deep, then he would find a way to unlock the defense either by carrying and releasing the ball in a dangerous area or by finding someone in a more advanced position. His vision was the absolute key why his first Ajax team was so dangerous.

In our current team there is nobody who can play that role. Eriksen is somewhat competent, but his passing is not as good and his legs are almost gone.

As a result, our passing is very poor in the build up phase as well as in the middle of pitch. Something oppo teams have punished us on numerous occassions.

I think if we were to add Todibo, De Ligt and Caquaret. That would improve our ball retention immediately. We also need to add someone who is more creative/hard working than Rashford and a more experienced CF that can deputize with Hojlund and we might be on the up here. If only someone like Cavanni was available right now to mentor Hojlund, we would be in a very good position

Mourinho was far better than Ten Hag and we didn't hear nonsense like "he deserves a chance under a new structure".

There was no new structure underway back than.

Anyhow, my point is that being the best since Fergie is meaningless. Either you're really good or you're not.

Think the De Ligt ship sailed when he went to Bayern, there looks to be strong interest in Todibo but never seen anything concrete on Caqueret

I’m always embarrassed to read the posts suggesting that if you don’t agree with something, you must be an impostor, opposition fan or some ABU tool. Such a simplification that adds nothing to the discussion, imagine if people were telling you that you’re a closet Pool fan because you want us to continue with a manager that took a healthy 7-0 at Anfield. Childish and annoying

Erik just won a game someone go hand him a lifetime contract right now.

Yeah, he also won 4 previous rounds in the FA Cup including beating Klopps all conquering Liverpool. Also beat Newcastle in last year's League Cup final and spanked that small club namely Barcelona in European competition last season.

Must be out of his depth eh?

Good god almighty, what absolute pish.

No Premier League or Champions League though mate. Were you championing for his sack back then? Why not?

I hope they stick with their already completed audit and already made decision and then we'll see who has a problem.
Teeing up an excuse if they land on keeping him I see.

Just take the decision as is and don't bitch about it. Heads up.

Also lost 14 league games and got knocked out from CL from basically the easiest group we had. Let’s not pretend there are no reasons to doubt him.

Well at least now you're acknowledging the existence of the loons on the "manager out" side of the discussion now.

Always have mate, there's always a few nutters in every discussion. We've all probably been one of them at times.

No it's a fact mate if you think about it. Outside of possibly a few lunatics. If any United fan who thinks we should have a different manager it's because they don't think the manager we have is good enough, is the right man for this job or both.

indeed, seems to manage cup competitions really well. Wonder what Real would do to a manager that finished 8th with a negative goal difference though.

I imagine they'd conduct a weeks long season review to decide whether or not they were going to keep him on. With the majority of their fans hoping that they do.

All the same arguments going around in circles.
Ineos really need to get their act together and announce if he stays or goes.

Apologies if this viewpoint touches a nerve but I think I am right in my point of view.

Some of the posts on this forum and particularly in this thread are far removed from the significant majority viewpoint of many reds fans who support our manager and want him to stay at the helm.

Mocking his silverware collection in his first 2 seasons is just plain ridiculous particularly when the club failed to pick up any silverware in the preceding 5 years before he came.

For those using the lazy Mourinho argument of winning 2 trophies in his first season, what teams did Mourinho beat in the final when he won those 2 trophies? Yes, thats right, the heavyweights of European football Southampton and a rather abject Ajax. Certainly Mourinho did not face a treble winning team and all conquering manager in Pep, did he?

This over eagerness to ridicule our manager is becoming tiresome and there's clearly a strong argument for suspecting that some of these posters have alternative agendas.

Not that I know if he should stay or not, but I don’t see what you’re getting at there.

Or having that level of control was one of the things that made the job attractive to him. There are direct quotes after all that control over transfers was one of his requirements for taking the job.

It's not like he rocked up one day and was taken by surprise that United had no real footballing structure.

Easy to make these points without considering our chronic injury crisis during the season. How many centre back pairings again?
