A public review, or statements he was 100% sacked which came from one or two people and was just copy and pasted for clicks and reads. Of which most of those journos have since back tracked and changed their tone and wording.

If EtH stays, then it looks quiet simply like it was a storm in a teacup caused by the british press - not uncommon really.

If he is sacked then thats when it actually looks bad in Ineos, because actually the press was right but they didn't have the neck to do it as planned, so wanted to let water flow under the bridge first.
Even The Athletic are talking about this end of season review. I get it needs to happen and strong consideration needs to be made but they've had more than enough time make a decision. I think if he stays, it's a bit disappointing that the club didn't back him sooner, it's understandable but would feel like he would be going into next season with a short leash. Regardless of the decision they make allow this to drag on too long without clarity isn't good optics imo.

Disagree. If they‘ve decided to keep that could have been announced last Sunday. I just don’t believe they are only now debating the decision, given the season we’ve had and the data that was available to them prior to the Cup Final. There may be a split amongst the decision makers (whoever they are) but this should have been ironed out weeks ago. The big message this is sending, to me, is they do not have unanimous confidence in EtH - or they would have announced he was here for next season already.

Not going to happen.

No way they'd come out after all that press friday and say publicly "we are going to keep EtH" on sunday.

It would show a complete lack of confidence. The time to make such statements was friday else you act like it was all a load of bs and you ignore it.

To delay and then keep him doesn't display much confidence. And that's the outcome I expect, as I'm fully expecting them to bend to fans new will to keep him.

Only way this all makes sense is if they sack him, as it makes it look like they didn't take it lightly. If you're keeping him then you back him ASAP, as like others have said, the optics are terrible for Ten Hag. It makes you wonder what their relationship will be like going forward, and it won't be the most positive start to their tenure as the media will be all over it now.

I get you. But these same journo said a review happened a few weeks ago. EtH also said it happened.

I just feel some of this new review noise is journos covering their backside from the stories they wrote friday.

To delay over a week after already showing their hand couldnt be undermining him any more - if he's here next season.

They'd undermine him less if they'd sacked him and rehired him like Bayern almost did with Tuchel.

No chance that happens, ETH isn't stupid and it's not like Real Madrid are waiting until the CL final retire Ancelotti and bring in ETH.

Not stupid but there will be a lot fewer openings in another week or two although to clarify I do not think it is likely he will go voluntarily. I would not put it past INEOS to try and get him to quit though as austerity seems to be their watchword, I am just waiting for Jim to send another email demanding that staff reuse the toilet paper at Carrington at least 3 times before getting a new roll.

Jacobs mudded

If the decision is he's staying, you'd have thought this week would have been the best time to announce it. So Erik and the fans can know where we stand and everyone can enjoy the cup win and a break from football.

Still sticking with my original thoughts on the situation. If he was staying they would've came out and said it already.

I agree

Stay or Go, taking this long to make their decision is not a good look either way IMO

Even if they keep him, it’ll show that they don’t have much confidence in him. No idea why they’re taking this long.

With no timeframe for a decision either, it’s making me wonder if they literally are waiting for Berrada to start.

Sir Jim's team need to sort this quickly because its becoming highly embarrasing at this point and we cant even sign players because potential signings will want to know who would be their new manager if they joined.

Relax people, does it really matter if decision is made this week or next week? Not really.

Still failing to understand how people think that press conference/announcement goes without undermining EtH?

You surely don't making announcements you actually have decided to keep an employee.

I bet Ten Hag will be pissed off by it all. It won't be long till his agent has stories out there that he's looking at other clubs.

Hopefully tomorrow, so INEOS can finally pull the trigger and hire someone else.

I just want to ask you lot a serious question, when we see Antony doing the roundabout and we are exposed in the center of the pitch again and again next season, how long should we give this a go then?

You cant really say you are going to ask a serious question then precede to single out 1 player who has been unfairly critisised since he signed.

Could be they have offered the job to someone and they are deciding to take it or not. Potter, DeZerbi, Tuchel and Poch all unemployed at the moment, could be someone no one has considered and negotiations are ongoing. The mess with Ashworth could be the club keeping things really under wraps

I remember the games against Benfica; they were very difficult to play against, they are tactically very good.

It is not a shame to go out in two close games against a good opponent. Especially not after winning every group game.

There was a dip in performances but look, they still won the league so what is the problem?
Oh I had that discussion with many supporters both online as well as in the JCA,. Cool we won today but my rectum is tighter than a duck's butt because of the last 90 minutes I endured. Pretty much what United supporters learned last season.

If we are this inefficient then nothings really moved on from the Woodward days

Does it matter if the decision is made this week or next? A lot.

Every day of delay means one less day of planning for the upcoming season. Not to mention the more we delay, the more we risk one of our candidates accepting a role at another club.

Tomorrow, or when Ten Hag gets back from vacation - because INEOS are nice that way. Letting Ten Hag feel stressed through his entire holiday, then just when he comes home convinced he still has a job, they pounce and sack him - after everyone else have hired managers, obviously.

The planning at this club is so bad, it sounds almost unbelievable.
Several managers have already been let go and replaced, because clubs understand that the incoming manager needs to know which club he'll be working and will want a full pre-season.
At our club, we keep staff in the dark and have no plan.
We basically "react" to everything.

If I hadn't seen how badly we are run, I would not have believed it.

Fans like you and me understand this. But for some reason, the management doesn't.
Sometimes I wonder if they are trying to do a bad job managing the club. But I guess it's just incompetence.

It is possible, but if that's the case, they should inform ETH, so at least he can start speaking with other clubs.

You don't spend this long "doing a review" - the club clearly want to sack him and are just waiting for the right moment. If they wanted to keep him, they'd have said something by now. They'll already be sorting things out for the next manager behind the scenes, so leaving it a few more days won't matter.

People seem to have forgotten just how bad this season was. There was never a realistic prospect of him remaining in post when you have ruthless operators such as INEOS running things. He's failed.

'End of Season Review', translation: we are gonna sack him but he just won the FA Cup, so via review we can justify it on balance.

The story's of him getting sacked before the final are also suspect.

Get in De Zerbi.

The guys not bitter at all....

The guys an arse clown. No one knew what he really did under Fergie. Done f all after. Came back to give Ole some sort of merit with people still not knowing what he was doing and no one noticed him missing since.
Fckin hell! Some posters here really lose their sh!t when it becomes my team vs the other team in these matters.

You seriously think that the club would sack him and they haven't already made multiple talks with other potential managers? Which manager United have missed, Maresca and Kompany or who else? C'mon, they are not any obvious choices who are great candidates and available. Only maybe Tuchel.
They have time, seems like they don't want to sack the manager right after FA Cup win. It looks like a matter of time.

I'm little bit disappointed how it went for ETH, he had so much to deal with because of overall poor club management injuries and player power. Not that his is blameless, but I would have loved ETH to prove everyone wrong.
For me the decision is 50/50 and I really hope whatever the club decides, turns out to be the correct decision proved by the time.

I agree that it should have happened and can only hope it's a one-time thing that was caused by the fact we've not yet set ourselves up. Ashworth hasn't joined yet, Wilcox came on board about 40 days ago and they are supposed to be the two most important people when it comes to judging the manager and team (or choosing a replacement). Hopefully it's more a case of everyone being extra careful before making a bad move, knowing that they are still learning everything, and this isn't going to be the norm from now on.

I do think they should stop stringing him along if they've decided to sack him.

Bloke has an opinion on the manager that you don't like so you decide to get personal, nice. I thought the Ten Hag out brigade were supposed to be the classless ones.
