Reminds of the Nazi narrative towards the end of WW2, Hitler kept telling everyone that they are winning the war despite progressive push back and loss of territories. ETH must think the fans are stupid
He calls this progress

Most of them don’t want him for another season, they want him to stay long enough to vindicate their belief in him. If it takes 10 years and the club is in the gutter during this time, it’s fine as long as we support the manager.
They think they're being clever and seeing something the rest of us don't by going against the popular opinion
Well, whatever the reason, it doesn't feel like they're putting the club first, does it? You can't be seeing anything on the pitch that indicates keeping him is the right move.

Any other manager and we would be relegated. It's only ETH that has us 8th. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to believe he is our manager. Please God, let this man be here for life.

Haha, what did I just read?

I am in my 30s ,I can understand Younger United fans who started watching us post 2010 and opposition fans supporting him.I don't understand anybody who watched us pre 2010 wanting ETH here next season.

This is why I have been calling for him to leave since Palace at home.

Losing games is fine, the odd poor performance is fine - but being consistently dominated and outplayed by inferior sides is unacceptable.

He hasn't even got "lost the dressing room" as an excuse. Our running stats are right up there.

Injuries...sure, they have an impact...but which players are missing today who'd make a major difference to us keeping the ball and building attacks?

This will be one of the longest weeks of my life. Can't wait to hammer the F5 key after the cup game regardless of result.

Didnt we sack van Gaal the day of the cup final? ETH should hopefully be sacked right after it at the press conference

Weren’t we being told by his fanboys we’d play incredibly progressive football once Martinez was back in?

We're mind numbingly dull to watch. It feels like Van Gaal all over again.

Whoever the next manager is, we really need positive attacking football at the top of their list of attributes.

What you typed makes sense, I love how you think becuase you typed it its correct.

Attacking transition, https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/att...l-tactics-explained-klopp-liverpool-mourinho/

Rio talking about one v one.

Anyway...

I know what an attacking transition is. It's just a phase, every complete sequence has 4 phases, the defensive setup, the attacking setup, the attacking transition and the defensive transition. The clarification that you mentioned isn't one especially when ETH told you what he wants during that specific transition, speed and surprise which as the link you shared suggest is the aim for teams that play counter attacking Football. So surely with the link that you shared you realize that ETH's goal isn't possession Football?

And Rio described his experience having to pick up Owen in 1v1 during a single transition. He isn't telling you that he was supposed to be in that situation, in fact he tells you that he wondered where was his teammates because 1v1 wasn't the plan.

And to be clear this is the context of that conversation:
The fact is we can play this way (counter), Eth knows how to play it. he is a professional football manager, but he has the balls to think "feck it, hah" he knows Casemiro and Evens don't have the legs to play 1v1, (by the way 1v1 is defending is the Utd way) this mad Dutch bastard still does it - again saying we play this way.

Here you stated that 1v1 was the Utd way, so don't tell me that you didn't mean that it was the default setup. And you also insinuated that it was something that ETH desired which is highly unlikely but if it was the case then he needs to be sacked because that's a genuinely stupid idea.

Its been a very forgettable season hasn't it? I mean we started slow, had some joy in Hojlund going on that lil scoring run, Mainoo emergence yet we were bottom of our CL group which was embarassing. Never really believed we could get top 4. Another FA cup run

Forgettable would be an improvement

It's been unforgettable for all the wrong reasons

Still missing Shaw.

Can’t realistically expect a manager of Manchester United who’s spent £400 million on transfers in two seasons to be able to play coherent attacking football against the 10th best team in the league without Luke Shaw.

Your expectations are ridiculous.

Man City are winning their 4th title in a row and we will finish 33 points ( 65 difference in GD) over us and yet we are somehow keeping our manager. There are levels to the gap between the two clubs now. Standards are in the gutter at United
This should be pinned on the homepage of Redcafe.net

How people are accepting all this kind of performance is a shocking..

Hard to forget the worst season I have ever witnessed. If by forgettable you mean hardly any, if any at all, memorable moments in the entire season, then I agree.

Surely everyone is able to see his god awful setup is the problem?

We are easy to play against. Opponents anticipate how he wants us to get touch tight in the middle and just use simple 1-2's to pull us apart like old rags. How can people watch this over and over and still want him to stay?

I don't think that resembles LvG team. Those days we were boring but could at least hold possession. This ETH team has NO CLUE how to move/keep the ball.

It's as bad as it has ever been.

A horrible and unacceptable season, no doubt, but for the next manager, it's probably not a bad thing that you only have 38 games plus the domestic cups. With the wage bill being significantly trimmed and an exodus of players (hopefully) next season might be a proper transformation season that a lot of fans have been after for years.

Just don't fall back on the defensive, counter attacking football to grind out results and don't hire Southgate please :(

The shocking thing is we have 28% fans voted to give him another year. Feck me. This world has gone crazy!

None of these teams have had worse injuries. I can only assume you've been looking at absolute numbers and not concentration of injuries in one area of the pitch.

Do you have the numbers so we can compare the defensive injuries between teams?

Weren’t we being told by his fanboys we’d play incredibly progressive football once Martinez was back in?

First, we were being told we need a progressive GK and Onana is the man.

Then, we need Martinez to play from the back.

Maybe we need to give him FDJ for another 80M and 700k p/w wages.

Interesting that the poster made no mention of you yet you’re the one that instantly responded to it.

I guess if the shoe fits..
Im against childish name calling on both sides. It's not hard to call immature posters out.
